Unblock USA Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer - 3 Months Access For $6 (Save $2.25) @ uFlix

ob3m

Hi everyone,

So, we have managed to yet again stay ahead of the blocks. We love OzBargain and we are aware of the lengths Netflix is going to keep Australian's out of the USA. We normally run 12 month unblocking specials for you guys, but we have decided to try something new. We are doing a special for 3 months for $6 to gain access to USA Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer. This is a non-recurring deal (it is a once-off purchase) and is not stackable if you are an existing uFlix customer. We have kept the duration and price low for users. This is primarily targeted towards users who are locked out of the USA. If you are happy with the service you can purchase a subscription with us or switch over to us after the 3 month period ends.

Here is some extra information that you guys may want to know -

  1. This is not guaranteed to work for ALL users and devices (due to a multitude of variables to do with Netflix). We allow a 3 day free trial for you to test the service. Please note, if your device is having difficulties getting through to USA Netflix, please read https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update/ before submitting a support ticket.

  2. We can not provide support on OzBargain or through PM. Please submit a support ticket at http://uflix.com.au in order to get support.

  3. At the time of this post we support USA Netflix alone. We are working on a different unblocking method to see if we can again gain access to other countries, however, due to the large cost of each region and the complexity of it, only USA is supported for the time being. USA will always be our #1 priority when it comes to Netflix regions.

  4. No, you do not need a uRouter in most cases. DNS alone should work for 90% of you. The uRouter is for VPN's and should be a last resort if DNS alone fails. Please test our service and ask questions before purchasing a router.

  5. We will always try our best to unblock USA Netflix, even with their crazy aggression. We can not guarantee that there will be zero downtime for everyone. It all depends how quickly we can work around their blocks - so far the longest period of time we have been down for has been 6 hours.

The deal will end on Sunday, 26th @ 12:00pm - All purchases must be made before this time.

If you guys have any other questions please feel free to post them here and we will reply as soon as we can.

Thanks.

    Is Xbox One working again?

That's the main reason I stopped using uFlix.
    Cheers.

Edit: Does it work without the need for a CFW router?

    • Same question but with Apple TV thanks rep

      • +1

        Hi,

For Apple TV you will need to add static routes to the router ( https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update/ ) as suggested in the description. This should fix the Apple TV and work without issue. The Xbox is a hit or miss device, and there is a chance static routes may also fix the issue there.

        Thanks.

  • stopped working on the WiiU a while ago and can't get any service to work on it :( until i get a Chromecast it's no use unfortuantely

    • +1

      Hi,

Unfortunately we provide no support for the WiiU as there were hardly any customers using it. The Chromecast can work, but requires a workaround as posted on https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update/

      Thanks.

Hola is a great choice if you don't mind your home network being used as an exit node for who knows what. If you are happy to take on that risk, then Hola is absolutely a great solution.

If you prefer your privacy and security, a good company with a privacy policy outlining what they do is a better option, but costs money.

      Thanks.

    • +5

If you did use Hola you would know it got blocked by Netflix months ago and no fix ever since.

any plans for other regions like Canada or UK?

    • +2

      read the post

      • +2

        I did,
"3. At the time of this post we support USA Netflix alone. We are working on a different unblocking method to see if we can again gain access to other countries,
        "

Sounds like they're "working on other regions." Hence the Question about if Canada & UK are on the agenda.

        • Sounds like they answered it.

        • @Jake D: 3 posts down they certainly did!
"Canada, Germany and UK will be the first 3 we hit"

That's the info I wanted to know, so I'll sign up & see how they go.

      Hi,

As outlined in the description, we are focusing all our efforts on USA as USA is the primary region people use. If we manage to unblock other regions we will, but due to the complexity and costs (and time) we are focusing on USA for the time being.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks, I did read your post, and my question came from your #3 comment We are working on a different unblocking method to see if we can again gain access to other countries,
are Canada & UK on the radar, or is it other regions?

        • +2

          Hi,

If it proves to be successful, we will add whatever we can get our hands on. Canada, Germany and UK will be the first 3 we hit - but no promises.

          Thanks.

      • we are focusing all our efforts on USA as USA is the primary region people use

Perhaps diverting some of that focus on getting the Canada and UK regions as well.

The US library has the size, but the UK library has the most recent series of shows that haven't been released to syndication yet in the US.

  • Will it work on Roku/Telstra TV?

    • +1

      Hi,

Yes, it should work on those devices, but static routes may be needed. You can read about them at https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update/

      Thanks.

  • +1

I also would like to point out that if anyone has any questions regarding the state of Geoblocking in general (not uFlix specific), please feel free to post your questions on this thread and I will answer them as best I can.

    Thanks.

    • +2

Do you guys have one method that is working, or continuously trying to stay ahead of Netflix? What would happen if say half way through the subscription your method gets blocked (perhaps as yor service gets a huge influx of users through the deal)
Also thanks for the great deal.

      • +4

        Hi,

The method we are currently using is working. We have also stayed ahead of the bans. The longest we have been down for since Netflix got extremely aggressive was 6 hours, and then we were online again.

If we get blocked we get blocked, and we just need to work around the blocks as per usual. This is not a surprise attack. All VPN and smartDNS providers are facing the exact same issue and it is nothing new. We regularly get our networks banned and it is just part of the game. We just work and come up with ways to get unbanned. But like I said, the longest we were down for was 6 hours, and then services were restored.

I hope this answers your question.

        Thanks.

        • Further to pfits comment, if per chance your service gets a "permanent" ban, would subscribers receive a refund on the unused portion of their subscription?

        • +3

          @Maz78:

          Hi,

In the unlikely chance it gets permanent banned, no, no refunds will be issued as users know how these types of services work. We will however (regardless) be adding other things in place of Netflix which will not cost the user extra.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix:

          Cheers for the info.

    • Is the game of cat and mouse completely IP address based, or are there some other techniques that are used to implement blocks? For example, how (and how come) are some types of devices blocked?

      • +4

This is an extremely difficult question but I will try and answer it the best I can.

We can not say with certainty exactly how they are flagging it. We do know for certainty that they are banning IP addresses and entire IP pools (extremely large ones at that).

The devices are app based. Some apps will have a fix for them by adding static routes, but it will cause other apps to break on different devices by using static routes. This is clever, because it means there is randomness with the devices. To put it simply, it is a huge pain in the arse for the end user to have to choose between one device and another, thus persuading the user to give up on unblocking and stick to their own region.

        Thanks.

        • Thanks for the candid response!

So it's kinda like Netflix themselves are building in "phone home" capabilities into their apps to get around geoblocking, hence static routes. Certainly explains the mobile apps ("Bug fixes" indeed)

At least with the IP addresses, it's been suggested that unblocking services should try and find a residential ISP to partner with, so that the pool of IP addresses used can't be blocked without affecting legitimate users. Other than lack of co-operation from ISPs, is there any technical reason why this couldn't be pursued an option?

        • +3

          @zzyss:

          You're welcome.

The phone-home is a simple way to put it. Google's DNS use to be able to be blocked and that would fix the issue. Now some of the apps (notice I say SOME) will fail if Google's DNS is blocked. This means the only way around it is by modifying IP Tables. Very few routers can do this, so for the most part the user is stuck.

That is why we released the uRouter - a nice cheap router which allows you to piggyback from your main network. This is a good solution, however, again, it is not guaranteed to work. But for $30 odd, it is a good device to have laying around regardless.

I can't really give an answer to the rest of your question unfortunately. Sorry.

Is UK working yet? itching to watch the ITV Isle of man coverage but your UK server has been down for ages.

    • +1

      Hi,

As outlined in the description, we are focusing all our efforts on USA as USA is the primary region people use. We are currently working on a different angle of attack for the unblocking, and if it proves to work as we are hoping it will, then UK will come back online as soon as we can. Right now we are working hard to stay ahead of the regular blocks Netflix is putting in place, and USA is the priority.

      Thanks.

      • Yeah but this is just for regular UK vpn so I can use ITV hub, not netflix. Do you have an ETA of when the UK server will be online? The Isle of man is only on ITV hub for 1 more week.

        • +1

          Hi,

Sorry, I misread what you wrote. We do not unblock ITV. We unblock USA Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer.

          Thanks.

        • +1

have a crack with dns4me.net I get BBC, ITV, Ch4, Ch5, etc but I suspect it's mainland, not Isle of Man, do you have to be located on IoM to get ITV content there? (Does it get say Football or something different to the mainland?)

        • @supabrudda:
Thank I'll try that. Its the Isle of man TT coverage, which is on the normal UK itv4 channel. So as long as it thinks I'm in the UK I'm good to go.

  • Hey rep,
I had a ticket going about WD Live device which isn't working. Any news on this before I muck around with the free trial again?

    • +1

      Hi,

WD is a problematic device. Some users have it working without issue, some need static routes in order to get it to work, and some will not work at all. We are still looking into what can be done to fix this issue in the simplest way possible. Downgrading the firmware for the WD player seems to do the trick though, but we can not provide assistance for that as you can damage your device if something goes wrong.

      Thanks.

  • Just curious how much is it usually?
    If I like the service?

    • +2

      Hi,

$27.50 AUD per 12 months or $2.75 AUD per month.

      Thanks.

      • So instead of $2.75 - this deal makes it $2. And reverts back to $2.75 after 3 months. Whole lot of $2.25 saving which is not even 1 month free.

        • +4

It is nearly a 30% discount off of the normal price.

The pricing will not revert. It is a single purchase. At the end of 3 months you will need to manually make another purchase.

          Thanks.

        • and you're not paying for 12 months up front for a service which has a real potential to fail within that 12 months. A lot of people were pissed when smartflix charged them all for 12 months up front then shut up shop when it chasing Netflix's changes hard.

  • Can we register multiple IP addresses?

    • +3

      Hi,

No, only 1 IP is allowed. For the price we think that is fair, as unblocking Netflix is extremely expensive. Users sharing accounts to save $2.75 per month will quickly put us out of business.

      Thanks.

      • If i go travelling abroad, do i just need to register my new IP address with uFlix?

My knowledge of IT is pretty limited at this point, but when you mention that it's not guaranteed to work on all devices due to multiple variables, would one of them be the actual network you are on? (i.e. one hotel i travel to might work when i supply the new IP address with uFlix, but the next destination/hotel might not work?)

        Thanks

        • +1

          Hi,

Generally yes, you just login to the uFlix website and your IP will be updated. However, there is a catch. Some Hotels and 3G/4G networks will highjack your DNS, meaning our service will not work on those networks.

          Thanks.

  • Does this work for the ps3 Netflix interface?

    • +2

      Hi,

      It should work.

Please take advantage of the free 3 day trial and test it. If it does not work, please try adding static routes ( https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update ) and see if that helps. Failing that, please submit a support ticket.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks for the reply. Will test it out and will report back.

  • Hey Rep, will this work on the following devices:

    • LG Smart UHD TV's with Netflix built in
    • Nvidia Shield TV with Netflix & Hulu TV android apps?

    Thanks!

    • android apps will have issues.

    • +2

      Hi,

      It should work.

Please take advantage of the free 3 day trial and test it. If it does not work, please try adding static routes and/or IP Tables ( https://uflix.com.au/netflix-update ) and see if that helps. Failing that, please submit a support ticket.

      Thanks.

  • has anyone been successful with Uflix on XB1?

    • Didn't work for me. Added IP tables as well.

Video loads to 25%, gets stuck and then says "An error has occurred, please try again later" or something like that.

  • +7

Netflix was so much better before they expanded their service to Australia :(

  • +1

Working alright for me on PS3 (added static routes to my router). Will be buying a membership once the trial is over!

  • It generally works on my LG TV. It was a bit hit a miss at first, so I got a uRouter, which seems to help. The added benefit of the uRouter is that I was able to apply an AdBlock script to stop Youtube adverts.

  • Any issues for PS4? Currently with dns4me but they've been found out by netflix :(

    • Hi,

It should work on PS4. Please try it and see how you go. You should be okay.

      Thanks.

  • Great to see you guys (uFlix) having some success. Might be time to sign up again!
I assume it's still just a DNS redirect, based on the iptables rule, and no need for a full VPN connection?
And are the static routes just to blackhole Google DNS & Netflix(??) servers?
    Thanks

    • Hi,

Yes, for the moment it is DNS alone. Static Routes are for Netflix, IP Tables for Google.

      Thanks.

  • Ta, will give it a shot

    • Will he, though?

      • +1

Nah, there is no cash rewards available! Also there is a comma

  • Apple TV again - based on your answer to the earlier question, we need to set static routes at the router level. What effect does this have on regular non-uFlix-related traffic?

    • Hi,

It has no affect on non-Netflix traffic at all.

      Thanks.

  • If I purchase this will it have to be activated on purchase? I would like to try this out when my Stan sub runs out, which will be at the end of August.

    • -1

Yeah just need to go to My Account and select the USA region :)

    • +1

Your membership period starts when you sign up. AFAIK, you can't postpone it.

    • +1

      Hi,

As soon as you make the purchase it is activated. But please note, you must make the purchase before Sunday or the coupon code will no longer work.

      Thanks.

  • Does your service support smart tvs? How would I programming this?

    • +1

Change the DNS in your TV's network settings.

      • Thanks

    • +1

      Hi,

You can either change the DNS in the TV itself, or directly in your router if your TV does not have that option. It should then unblock USA Netflix for you.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks

  • +3

Feedback for those interested in this:

I signed up to give it a go as a first time user trying to access US Netflix. Signup was quick and easy and there is a range of info on setting up devices on the uFlix website. First time registrations will give you 3 days of free access to trial.

Within 10 minutes I was accessing the US content on my ipad without any problem but failed in being able to cast it to Chromecast. Couple of hours of trying things and following the steps on uFlix I still wasn't able to.

Haven't tried any other service but this one so far is worth the cost they are charging.

    • Hi,

For the Chromecast you may need to setup IP Tables if the DNS fails by blocking it as described in https://uflix.com.au/troubleshooting/

If blocking Google's DNS still fails then unfortunately IP Tables is the next step, and most routers will not support them.

      Thanks.

      • Yep, thanks. Tried IP Tables in my DDWRT and still no go :(

        • Hi,

Please submit a support ticket and someone from support may be able to help you out.

          Thanks.

  • What happens if I test it out (for the 3 days) on one computer but actually want to use it on another?

Will i have issues because of the IP?

    • Hi,

On another computer in the house? It will be fine. If you want to use it elsewhere, you must login to uFlix from that location to update your IP address, then it will work.

      Thanks.

      • different house

  • Thanks for the deal OP, I'm happy to try you guys out!

  • After taking a break from netflix US after the recent exclusions, I'm back with uflix, and it's good to see a proper catalog again. Thanks uflix.

  • Still working as of tonight.
