Explain The Origin of Your Username

I had to make the title that wankery because "Explain your username" was 'too short'. Fascists.

Mine is simple: My first name is Justin, somewhere along the line people started calling me Juddy. English's retarded and so are my friends who turned "Justin" into "Juddy". It's two syllables and is fun to say so I will stick with it.

Your turn.

N.B. I've no relation to Chris Judd.

    Self explanatory : pyramid

    • +9

      Oracle would be self explanatory. pyramid, not so much.

    • +12

      pyramid;

      you have a pointy head?

    • +36

      You run a pyramid scheme?

    • +26

      You haven't been getting any for thousands of years, despite spending every moment with your wife under the same roof?

      You are the work of slavery?

    • +1

      All of the above?

  • +2

    Typed half of it… got distracted and ended up submitting without finishing it. At least it makes some good puns occasionally.

    • +36

      Half of what?

      Clearasil?
      Clearance?

      Clearly we're never gonna find out!

      • +1

        And I'm pretty sure someone messed up your keyboard :)

      • +4

        ClearlyADHD.

      • +5

        If Clear had a similar keyboard problem as Spackbace, and with only half the name, he might not ever have intentionally been a Clear, but instead could have been a:
        * Clarence
        * Larceny
        * Lance Link (Secret Chimp)

        Alternatively, sans Keyboard issues he could have been:
        * Clear As Mud
        * Clearance Clarence

        However being a little cheeky toward my esteemed fellow Ozbargainer, the Urban Dictionary says:
        * Clear = http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=clear&defid=1…
        * ;-)

        And I have just lived up to my username…

    • +3

      This is in no way crystal, Clear.

    • +1

      That's clear

    In the 90s I was a door bitch at a night club in queensberry st, melb for a club called "atomic". My name is Al for short so during a quiet period I altered all the club passes to say " altomic" and it stuck.

    • Epic.
      Did you give all the girls a hi-five as they went in, and a peck for the guys.

      (+1 to whomever knows the reference)

    In the 90s, saw this nickname on Napster, stole it and ran with it :) So much metadata out there for it too lol ah well

        • I'm a weibo user ;)

        • @Clear:

          You know what you need? A blue power bank :P

        • @Spackbace: I'm giving the CC to the SO now.

        • @Clear:

          Please, like you don't know the numbers off the top of your head…

          Also, do you think she's gonna spend less than $25? :P

        • +2

          @Spackbace: Crap. I'm out of options now.

      And here I was trying to figure out what made you want to rearrange "Backspace", lol.

      • It definitely makes it easy finding usernames :)

    • +3

      I've been saying your name as spaceback all these years 😩

      Back in the 90's I used to get called TTTA (triple T A)

      I was a DJ back then (vinyl only) and my other DJ mates would come in to the club and ask if they could mix a few songs, I always said no, so they started calling me a TurnTable Tight Arse, or TTTA for short..

      Nismo is something I've used online for >10 years
      = Nissan Motorsports

      Always been into cars.. Now have a Burmese cat named Nismo (and another Burmese cat named Gojira) ^_^

      • +5

        Why do all these stories start with "in the 90s"? Lol

        • +10

          Because those of us who lived through the 60's and 70's can't remember what we did or were called.

        • +3

          I reckon it may be because that's about when the internet was born (commercialised).

          And. Primary school nickname.

        • @pjetson: There's still the users from the 80's, but the drugs have wiped out their memory better than Will Smith's deneuralizer.

    I love collecting points and other rewards from supermarket loyalty programs and other member programs.

    • Isn't that a false economy?

      • +1

        If you are careful and thoughtful you can make money short term and long term.

        Some people do get carried away by points but if they are used in conjunction with other saving strategies, they can be very powerful and useful.

        Over the last 3 years the money I spent on groceries has gone down instead of up.

    Everyone things David jones
    But it's
    Dean jones the cricket, top score in one dayers 145 at the Gabba against England in 1990

    • Pity they didn't select him much for Test Match

      • He had a good run, was a bit outspoken which didn't help

        • I met him 2 yrs back at a community cricket club lunch event. DJ's speech was hilarious. Great memory.

    The digits of the captcha when I signed up.

    • +3

      creative "relating to or involving the use of the imagination or original ideas to create something."

      You were given it so….

      • +1

        Ha yeah I would have thought least creative would be more appropriate. Clever though

    • +5

      Damn, I've been thinking it was ur ATM pin. No wonder I couldn't get it to work.

  • It spells my name.

    • +1

      I don't get this.

      • +5

        My name is Coire - C0123.

        • 2 =/= R

          2 = Z

          R = ?
          (something between a 4, and a 9)
          C0123
          C0143
          C0193

        • @Kangal: 12 = R (or so I've convinced myself.

        • @C0123:
          Ah I see. Needs another 1.

          C01 12 3
          C01123

          Reminds me of Baskin Robbins.
          The "3 1" in the logo represents the "31 flavours" they offer. Or something like that.

    Had a Toyota Aristo / Lexus GS300 with the Supra 2JZ twin turbo engine. Was built up with bulk power but still a massive sleeper with fat tyres the only indicator, so I invented 2JZZZZ….

    • Sweet! Got a build thread floating around anywhere?

      • +1

        I was on jzs147.com but I sold the car a when ago. These Aristo were actually the first car with the 2JZGTE, was over $150k brand new.

        • how much did you spend on the build? What do you own now?

        • @hahaboy:

          I kept the twins beacuse I liked how nice the sequential was in a heavier, auto car. Fitting a shift kit in the auto was the best mod I ever did but the thing could drink like no tomorrow. I bought a MINES tuned ECU and it was awesome, but a $1000 risk for unknown tune on board. Removed speed limit, cruise control limit and had a safe tune to run 20PSI. You can even still email MINES with the serial number and they will reply with what the parameters of the tune are.

          Fav cosmetic mod was the interior dash. Bought a TRD dash and it'd had a LED and needle makeover, that alone brought the interior from a 1990s car, to be up with a late model car. Friends and family though the car was only a couple of years old.

          Haven't owned anything exciting after it, a new Yaris and now a new Triton. But I've bounced around of styles of cars. A LC GTR Torana, VK Brock, S14 200SX. Now I have a house and dogs haha

    • Always nice having a car with power which no one knows what it is. Now we just need to get tonyjzx here to see what he's got as well. My past two cars have been JZXs and I love them.

      • Ahhh, the lowly, little baby 1JZ haha

        • Correct. The little brother you don't invite anywhere.

  • +8

    I'm an old Aussie married to Bruce.

  • Two things that I am studying currently are often said to be "oversimplifying" the area of interest (and to some extent I agree). That said in my opinion, these are often based on "oversimplified" stereotypes based on old ideas and high school level & undergrad level stuff.

    I kinda liked the irony, so I tooked Oversimplified as the nickname.

  • +4

    My actual name. Parents had a sense of humour :)

    • +7

      I always get mistaken for you.

      • @JahjaMan, you should be so lucky ;)

    • +1

      I know someone with a middle name of Starship. You should meet.

      • +2

        My son's middle name is Jedi . Much to learn , he still has , my young padawan. But someday, I doubt not, a true Jedi , he will be.

    • +3

      Ok,I lied. My parents don't have a sense of humour.

      An ozbargainer had a huge crush on my wife who used to be an ozbargainer too. Her username was Wicket1120 and he proceeded to nickname me Jar Jar Binks, the most hated star wars character. I thought it was funny and I quite liked the username, so I adopted it. He also neg stalked me for a quite a while afterwards. He was my very first fan on ozbargain :) I wonder what happened to him.

      • Haha, that's hilarious :-)

        So…

        How's things?

        • How's things?

          In regards to? :)

          Edit: Are you the person who gave me that nickname? Got over your crush on wiki? :P

        • Never mind, bad joke that fell flat :-)

          Edit reply: Nah, sorry, I'm not really him. I don't know him but I know he's not me, nor am I he. You're you and I'm me.

          Wait, you call your wife wiki? That's …kinda awesome. How's she going? Say hi for me.

        • @3 Hyenas:

          Wait, you call your wife wiki?

          only during pillow-talks… and she calls me JJB ;)

          Some of the friends we've made on here call her Wiki, even though they know her real name. It's kind of become her nickname now even IRL.
