  • Nice find op!

  • -1

    Which ones have QC?

    • None QC out, the 2nd 20,000 QCs in

        • +15

I'm just sharing what I find cheap :)

Really, a neg for that? Wow

        • +1

you can go to Aliexpress app, theres a mobile deal that has xiaomi pro bank 10000mah qc both ways for $33.27

        • @roonaqdai:

          This one?
US$25.34 = ~AU$33.46 (though may be cheaper in app as you say)

And this is why I haven't shared any yet, roughly twice the price of a standard one just to have QC both ways :/

        • @Spackbace: yeh it is the one. haha, im so lazy to jump on desktop. get some cashback as well. not sure if its a great price for it

        • @roonaqdai:

          US$22.49

So nah. They're not as popular as the standard ones at the moment, so prices are still up there :/

  • Fast charge for Nexus 5x is 5V/3A, output of these is 5.1V/3.6A. Will it be able to fast charge the 5x or is it not as simple as comparing the input/output?

    • 5.1V/3.6A is across both ports. It won't do Type-C Fast Charge.

      • Thanks. Still a good anyway :)

    • Look up the tronsmart 12000mah, available on aliexpress. Type c 3.0 in and out, qc3.0 out via type a.

  • +2

I still got a regular 10 and 16k I got locally from mushato after being (profanity) around for a month on one of those cheap deals that turned out to be fake.

    • Which deal?

    • +1

+1 for never being (profanity) by Mushtato !

    • I thought Mush was meant to be confirmed reliable as far as fakes go?

      • I believe BargainKen is saying the Mushtato are real, but he bought some fake ones from another cheap deal which (profanity) him over. :p

        • +6

I see. Some punctuation would have made it more readable.

        • @lostn:

Yup basically. Sometimes the savings vs hassles just aren't worth it. Mushato was $10 more and I had the gear in 3 days all authentic too.

  • Will I get QC charging if I am charging the unit with an AC power strip's USB ports, or do I need a special charger? If the latter, is it included?

    • You need a QC charger.

    • Qualcomm QuickCharge requires that both the charger and the device being charged have QC capability.

So yes, you will need a charger with Quick Charge if you want that benefit. Otherwise, it would charge at a normal rate.

      Example (from a recent post):
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257536

      • The one you linked to, the only QC3 port is Type-C.

To charge the Xiaomi via that port you'd need a Type-C to Micro-USB cable. It's probably not going to be included.

        • You're right. Thanks for pointing that out. That was the first QC charger that came up when I did a quick search.

I bought one of these recently (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256550). This is a different brand from a different store. But it comes with a full sized USB port with QC 2.0. It also comes with a QC 2.0 compatible micro USB cable and an AU power plug. It might be a better match for you?

I haven't received my item yet so I can't comment on how well it works.

  • How safe is it to use a power ban?. I've heard reports of mobile phone dying because of these things.

  • +1

    Are these real or fakes?

    • Good question. Not sure if anyone will be able to tell until someone buys one and tests it. Of course it would take weeks to arrive.

    • No warranty and that's for sure.

  • How would these compare to another brand such as blitzwolf that has QC?

  • How does this compare to AUKEY posted recently???

    • The Aukey one (I think you mean this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257421) has Quick Charge 3.0 output. I don't believe it supports Quick Charge input though.

This Xiaomi one looks to be the opposite. It supports Quick Charge input but no Quick Charge output. That is, the power bank charges quickly, but your devices (phones, tablets, etc) will not.

      • Yeah just wondering whether it's worth it to get the AUKEY one instead, and quick charge of the battery pack is not a priority for me. Also do you know if you require a specific cable or just general MicroUSB cables for Quick Charge 3.0? Thanks in advance.

        • It's probably down to personal preference. I have a QC capable phone and I really value having this feature. So I bought the Aukey one. I know that cables make a difference, but a lot of cables are sold without telling you what it can/cannot do. I believe how much ampere it can support is an important attribute.

          Example:
          (Supports up to 2.1A) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256699
          (Supports up to 2.4A) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256697

The Aukey supports a maximum output of 2.4A. So it may be worth considering a cable that supports up to 2.4A. I'm not sure if you will notice a significant difference if you went with the 2.1A cable though.

        • @ihavok: Does Quickcharge charge faster with the same amount of Amps, or does it double the Amps to double the charge time?

        • @ihavok:

If that's the case, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 would it be worth it to get the AUKEY instead since input quick charge does not make a difference to me. But I don't believe S5 supports QC3.0 from what I understand. But would it be faster than normal charging in general?

        • @DAOtmc: S5 does not support QC. S6 supports QC2.0 and S7 supports 3.0.

Without it, it should be the same as normal charging.

        • +1

@lostn: In theory, Quick Charge works by allowing a larger current to be transferred during the charge. Both charger and device need to be QC compatible to allow this to happen. If you're an Android user you can test this by using a free battery app (i.e. Ampere or Battery Widget). Both can show you how many amps are being transferred during the charge. You will see a difference when you use a QC charger vs standard charger.

@DAOtmc: lostn is correct. Only the Japanese model of the S5 supports QC 2.0 (Reference Link - https://www.qualcomm.com/media/documents/files/quick-charge-…)

The benefit of the Aukey charger is that it features their propriety AiPower charging feature. Which they say charges most devices faster. I don't know how true that is or how much faster it will be for you. But they did advertise this for a similar product (http://goo.gl/hN6Cey).

        • Are you kidding me?! Aukey 30000mAh is a beast!! Dual input (4.8A) and QC3.0 output is so amazing! Especially for $15 per 10000mAh! Perfectly coupled to their dual QC3.0 adapters.

I was unfortunate to buy the Xiaomi 20000mAh too quickly. The only benefit the Xiaomi has is the silicone skin and smaller size (some people really don't want to carry a rucksack and want something small like a 13000mAh). Xiaomi Aliexpress deal will end soon, and another Aukey deal will start, and probably better. So if you missed out on the Aukey, just keep waiting for the next deal, I'm sure it will come.

        • @ihavok:

The benefit of the Aukey charger is that it features their propriety AiPower charging feature.

Not really proprietary as other brands use the same tech with a different name. All it does is charge up to 2.4a instead of the usual 2.1a.

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

Where did it say the Aukey could support 4.8A in through the micro and lightning port simultaneously? I assumed they meant it could support 2.4A in from micro usb OR lightning - not both

        • @Clear:

AiPower is proprietary tech. Aukey made it for their own products. Just like VoltIQ is proprietary tech of Tronsmart who also use it on their products.

They all market it differently. Aukey says theirs charges up to 2.4A. Tronsmart says they identify the ideal current then deliver power accordingly. How much benefit a user will see in one over the other is subjective. You might need to find a benchmark/comparison if you really want to pick one over the other. Personally, I am only concerned with QC 2.0 because of my phone. Everything other port I assume it is charging at a normal rate.

DAOtmc was comparing the Xiaomi power bank in this deal versus the other referenced Aukey product. The advantage that the Aukey one has over the Xiaomi is that it has AiPower. Xiaomi to my knowledge doesn't have any additional 'fast charge' like feature for power output in this specific product.

        • @northshore: Yeah dual input means 4.8A charging, couple to their 60W dual QC3.0 + quad-port 2.4A is the best out there. There is a 70W charging station that is two QC3.0 + octa-port, but it's not on special and the delivered power will suffer by the 6th port.

        • +1

          @lovepeoplenotmoney:
I'd be very surprised if the powerbank could sink 4.8A through two connectors at the same time.

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

I had a look at Aukey's 20000mah battery, which has the same dual input feature. All I could find on this was a question on Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx1FZIOIMXDKXRP/?source… questions pages) which gives two conflicting answers, but I doubt the battery would be able to take in 4.8A, and instead chooses one or the other input as the answer says.

        • @futaris: Nice surprise isn't it?

  • Any deals on cheap quality micro USB cables? Stupid mutt loves using all of mine as chew toys.

  • +2

OP Are you sure there are 2 models of the 20,000 mAh? I've always known it as there is one model which is QC in. Looking at description for both, there one supposedly non quick charging says quick charge compatible on the description.

    • Shit it does too :/ but they're all from the same seller

      • +2

Yeah I've looked all over the web and I'm pretty sure there is only one model of the 20,000mAh Powerbank. It has QC in not out, and 2 ports. Official page is here: http://item.mi.com/1154400042.html (page is in Chinese but confirms what I've said). In that case I'm the supposed 'non fast charge' model is $4 cheaper than its ever been.

      • How confident are you that this seller's goods are genuine?

        • All I have to go off are their feedback.
Plus they show you how to check if it's genuine or not (what site to use). Pretty sure a fake wouldn't show you how to prove that it's fake :)

        • @Spackbace: OK, based on your recommendation I went ahead.

That scratchy code for checking authenticity is not on every Xiaomi product I've purchased. Is it supposed to be? I have to hope it's on this one.

I've just gone mad. Today I purchased two power banks (AUkey 30Ah and Xiaomi 20Ah), as well as a 6 port USB charger ($30 USD) from AUkey.

I already have half a dozen power banks that I don't use all that much including a Xiaomi 16Ah. :/

        • @lostn:

Lol it'll be like Christmas :)

Let me know how you go. I'd hate to think I shared a deal for a dodgy seller

        • @lostn:

That scratchy code for checking authenticity is not on every Xiaomi product I've purchased. Is it supposed to be? I have to hope it's on this one.

For powerbanks - yes. For some phones and tables - no.

        • @lostn: The Aukey 30000mAh is the one you want unless it's too big. I would only buy this Xiaomi if I was desperate

  • +3

I bought two 16000's quite a few years ago from a deal I found on ozbargain. Wow, they really are amazing. Only really appreciating them now because of Pokemon Go. I can't believe how fast it charges my iPhone 6S.

    • I can't believe how fast that game drains a phone battery.

I wouldn't want to be lugging a heavy power bank around attached to the phone while playing a game.

  • I can't seem to use a mastercard, visa or amex to pay at the payment stage! The error I get is "Sorry, we don't support this type of card."

    Anybody else had this problem?

    • No but I'm stuck at the 'choose colour' stage. Tried I.E. and chrome but it just sits there with the 'waiting' thingy spinning around?

    • It works, don't use your browsers auto fill, that's what screws it up.

  • Can anyone recommend a fast charger for the quick charge power banks. Max charger I have is 1500mah @ 5v.

  • I'm hesitant to buy because it is not confirmed to be genuine.

  • +5

As mentioned on the previous deal for the 16000mAh power bank from this seller, I would not trust this seller. Here is a conversation I had with the seller in which they confirmed that the blue and black are not Xiaomi, even thought they are advertised as such.

Also note the feedback on the 10000mAh power bank. There is more positive than negative feedback, however there are 2 reviews that suggest the powerbank is fake. They both comment that the power bank does not work as it should and one has pictures that show the power bank packaged in clear plastic and darker grey writing on the bottom than Xiaomi uses (both indicators of a fake).

I would not buy from this seller. They may sell some genuine products, but at least some are fakes, by their own admission.

    • Bummer - Thanks for the heads up - I have a few on the way - fingers crossed theyre real..

    • Oh well. Here's hoping another deal for these comes up quickly. Need to fuel that poke-ddiciton.

    • 13/07 - I purchased the 20,000 mAh Xiaomi at $23.75 USD based on this earlier deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256497
      16/07 - Another OzB post with same one @ $23 USD - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257556
19/07 - Both listings above have been removed by the store seller on AliExpress and relisted cheaper once again, this time @ $21.85 - http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1488908?spm=2114.13010608.0.…
Gives me a slight feeling it could be a perpetual scam, but I'm hoping not =\

      • +2

I would hope the feedback people leave will still count towards their overall feedback, but by taking down the listings every month it would mean they don't usually have much feedback on their Xiaomi items. They haven't relisted the blue/black 16000mAh. The only reason I realised anything was wrong in the first place was that I went looking for other colours and couldn't find anything about a 16000mAh in any colour except silver on official Xiaomi sites or other reputable sellers. All of the pictures of blues and blacks that I found Googling seemed to be fakes.

It shouldn't be too hard to get your money back if it is a fake. I think the main problem is having to wait until it arrives, confirming if it is a fake, having to reorder elsewhere. The other thing is, sellers seem to be able to require you to post the item back before getting a refund, which puts you out of pocket a fair bit. Hopefully AliExpress will be understanding if people provide evidence it is not Xiaomi and because the AusPost postage costs are quite high to send it back, as it's clearly the seller being dodgy.

I mainly used this site to confirm my Xiaomi power banks from Everbuying were genuine, including checking the 20 digit number on the packaging (only on Chinese stock not international ones) to ensure I was the first person checking it. There are a number of sites that tell you how to detect a fake though.

I hope most of their items are genuine, I think a lot of people here have bought from them. If not, I hope the refunds go well and without too much hassle and it should deter the seller from continuing their dodgy practices.

  • These links aren't working for me anymore.

  • +2

I ordered the 10,000 (which was actually a 10,400) on 17 July, and it arrived today.

Didn't look right out of the package, and sure enough, turned out to be a fake.

Store is "In the Group" http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1488908 …………. see keepingtrack's comment just above mine.

Dispute entered, and full refund requested. I await further developments with anticipation.

    • I received a response to my dispute from the store, saying if I didn't like their product, I could send it back, and they would pay the charges.

Foolishly, I accepted this, without confirming how they would pay. I am now seemingly locked into a process whereby I must return the fake, and AliExpress will then refund my money. There is a time limit on this.

I have asked the store twice how they propose to pay the costs - not a dicky bird.

In the absence of any further response, I will not throw further good money after bad, which means I probably won't get the refund from AE.

In the meantime, I have ordered a new 10,000 from the far more reputable Banggood.

      • I have discovered my postal service won't allow me to send a battery device through the mail, so I cannot return it. Please advise.

  • +1

Hopefully this is where AE come into their own and help everyone get a full refund.

Sincere apologies to everyone, and I've asked mods to ban the seller to prevent future posts for them

  • Bought mine on 17th of July and item has not arrived yet, I saw on the website my item not even deliver out of origin country and no tracking order given. It is indeed a fake seller. My AUD35.58 money, I hope Aliexpress do something about this.

A week ago this is what seller asked me
    "Dear Ivanna xx
I am the seller of aliexpress
You bought the product in our store.
I have a project to meet you.
    OK?"

    Sound very dodgy and misleading.

I just want my refund now.

  • Received mine.. it's a fake. :(

  • received mine today, definitely fake! I am asking for full refund and hope Aliexpress will give my money back.

    • He replied to me. Said he sent the wrong item (yeah right), but will give full refund if I send it back. He says he will pay for the freight.

But I'm not falling for it. He'll just deny that he received it, and won't pay for my freight. How can he? There's no mechanism for that.

Never buying from Aliexpress again. There was some deal like this posted where my comment was, "good price, but it's Aliexpress" and I got downvoted to hell. This is why.

      • I have had a further online discussion with AE today.

Short version is that I will get back to them on 9 August - at which time I will hopefully be advised of a full refund

I won't/wouldn't write AE off yet - they are dealing with a variety of sellers, and if their processes can protect the buyer from a shonk, I will persist with them.

        • +1

          Online chat with AE today.

My confidence level has dropped alarmingly …………… appears to me to be an exercise in stringing things out, until they can say "sorry, you didn't meet the refund terms".

Which aligns with the experience of a bike-riding friend, who tells a dismal tale of seeking (reasonably) a refund from AE, and being stonewalled into submission.

For anyone reading this - DO NOT agree to return the goods, based on the promise of the seller to pay for return freight. If you do, you are locked into their (AE's) inflexible process.

        • @jackspratt:

Received an email from AliExpress to advise my dispute has been escalated by the seller (after I posted a "temporary" tracking code), and is now being handled by the Case Management Team.

          Wait and see time.

  • My 20,000mah one turned out to be fake too (surprise…not) Will try to get a full refund and will never buy stuff from non-official stores on AliExpress again! Time to go for some AUKEY ones. Hope all you buyers get your refunds too!

    • Ugh - still waiting for mine - 2x 20,000 and 1x 16,000

Not sure if I should assume they'll be fake and order another now or nor.

  • yea, mine arrived today, bought it for my sis. it's fake.
first time using aliexpress. I should've stuck with mushtato.
    :(

    • Seller's reply to me. word 4 word. haha couldn't even be bothered to write my name after Dear. ugh guess i'll wait till 18th when AE will step in.

      Dear

We can accept the refund of half your amount.
        So sorry
And then experienced an unpleasant shopping
But i wish you a happy life

now i just have to wait til 25/08 for Negotiation finished. Hoping for full refund :)

        • Looks like i'll be getting a full refund :)

  • I finally got my 2x20,000 - surprise surprise… fakes.

No 'mi' logo on the USB ports
Balance is weird - obviously the case is only half full of cells.
General poor quality of everything - shoddy USB cable, shoddy 'mi' logo, LEDs shine through the side wall.
    No verification code.
I think even the bubble wrap was counterfeit..

What is the best course of action?
Open a dispute, or contact the seller first?

EDIT: Lodged a dispute and within seconds got the standard message that nofighting got.

    http://imgur.com/a/gsbDy

    • Aliexpress's judgement came through today - they found in my favour - so it looks like I'll get a refund without having to return the banks.

Anyone caught up in this - I suggest you reject the seller's proposals and hold tight.
