    • Get both. The coles card with better reward points and annual fee as your main card (everywhere possible), then get an AmEx with no annual fee and use it as backup card for cash back offers, shop small offers etc. Getting AmEx as your only card isn't really an option as it's not accepted everywhere - especially for larger bill payments etc.

      • But, since I will be using ING card for all sub $100 transactions, there's hardly any usage left for Coles card. :(. haha..

        • +1

Yeah ING made the value much less, although I still found enough usage with online purchases, bills, car registration, tax payments etc. where paywave wasn't possible + having a second card holder to split the annual fee with/get more use out of the card.

However that will be irrelevant, as ING Direct are ending 2% paywave as of 30th Sep so you'll be relying on a credit card more again.

  • I don't have a landline number at work or home and I can't apply for the card online. How funny! It seems one landline number is compulsory. In 2016? :-(

    • That is fine, I don't have a landline number either and got the card aprove. Just use the landline number they give as an example I think is something like 0312341234.. If they want to contact you they will call your mobile. :-)

  • Very quick. Applied on Tuesday, got the card on Friday.

Went for the rewards card. For the spending we do, the points will easily outweigh the annual fee.

  • We're sorry to inform you that based on the information you have provided us, we are unable to offer you a Coles MasterCard at this time.

You're welcome to reapply after 3 months should your circumstances change.

If you would like to discuss the outcome of your application, please call us on 1300 669 062.

    Yours sincerely,

    • better check your credit rating from Veda

    • Well I applied last week. Got approved instantly.

Got the email saying it's coming :D

Yeah better check your details (anything incorrect?) or credit rating.

      Something is wrong.

      • thanks LoveBargain15 & plasmoske

a Veda report arranged yesterday while i still cannot believe they refuse my offer! had CBA and ANZ black previously never had a single issue, very disappointing with Coles's credit-card system.

        • How many credit cards do you currently hole/current total credit limit?

        • @tomsco:

          2 cards with 12000 total

        • @nicwinner: Yeh, don't see that being the problem. I already had one card with $5k, but also have a mortgage (which is secured, so not like Coles could go after that).

  • Got my card but no bonus flybuys points? Also, anyone know if a second card holder card is sent out at the same time or do you have to activate the primary card before the additional card gets sent out? I added the additional card holder while signing up, so just assumed they'd both come in the mail at the same time.

      1) gotta make a purchase before you get the points.

      2) I also did the 2nd cardholder in the application. Called a few days after getting my card and they had no record of it, so had to go online to request the 2nd card again. Maybe try giving them a call, would be interested to see if yours was stuffed up as well.

      • Yes, I saw the online option. I'll call and find out. Not surprised if I have to do it again. Thanks. Will report back when I find out.

      • Contacted support and they managed to find the additional card holder in my online claim during signup. Apparently a letter will be sent out and the cardholder needs to verify their ID at Australia Post. Will know more when I get that letter.

        • +1

Funnily enough I found that in the post today. Still unsure why they couldn't find it online.

Anyway, if the 2nd cardholder can't be assed going to the post office, then do the online option - they can verify their ID online.

  • received my credit card, thanks

  • Received my FF 20,000 pts. Fantastic service!!

    • Can I ask when your first purchase was?

      • 28/7

        • Interesting… will have to give them a call.

  • Card arrived quickly.
    Single purchase made.
    Points received 2 days later.
Cashed in for value of Flybuys $100.
    Soon to close account.

    • Would this look bad on your credit history because you closed it so soon

    • Is there minimum purchase requirement ?

  • is there any minimum spend to get this 20pts?
spend $10 lastweek and still havent receive it yet

  • I'm a bit confused. I just got approved. But it didn't let me choose which card (Fee Free vs Rewards) I am getting.

Do I get to choose when I get my letter in the mail? I only want the Fee-Free card. There was no initial link to select one card or the other…

  • apparently the eligible purchase needs to be at a participating flybuys store, and the back of the card needs to be scanned at the time.

    • I did a purchase at Aldi and it worked without an issue.

  • Seems like this deal has been scrapped before the announced end date.

    • Probably can't afford the $100 given away on each new card.. lol

  • Where does it say wll recieve 20000 points on the application ? I entered the promo code and it just says promo code accepted

    • I'm still chasing for this points to get in. I called FB they say 6 weeks. TT

      Hopefully, finger crossed

  • Just got this for 2 years price protection used promo4 which came to my email, will reduce my 28 degrees credit limit as I will only use that for foreign transaction from now on.

    • Once you use the promo code does it tell you what offer you are receiving ?

      • nope just said the promo code accepted like yours

      • I just called up because I wanted to make sure that I received the no annual fee' card. The call centre chap said that I needed to use 'promo4' as 'promo3' would get me the rewards card.

  • Took a week or so, but got my points! =D

  • Thanks for having the brochure posted. I still haven't received my 20k of points, so shot them a message. After looking into it, they said it didn't apply to the Rewards card. Needless to say, I sent them the picture of the brochure. Hopefully that gets it fixed quick smart.

On another note, I also queried that the points on the statement don't match up with the amount spent. I would assume if I spend $1000, it should show 2000 points. It does not (even taking into consideration rounding down and taking out the annual fee). She mentioned there is a delay of transferring to my Flybuys account, maybe they should say points accrued and points transferred then. I don't have much faith in them at the moment.

    • Who did you contact? I havent received my points either and would like to follow it up. Do you have a phone/email contact?

      • I contacted them via The Facebook chat system. Might take a little longer overall, but at least that way I don't have to sit on the phone to them explaining their terms and conditions of their promotion.

  • +1

No points yet.. called and they're going to investigate this with flybuys

  • I haven't had any luck getting my points awarded. Jumped through all the hoops and been waiting since the beginning of August. When I contacted them I was told I wouldn't be receiving the points as it was a targeted offer and a letter followed. Link attached. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii66/sr50/flybuys.jpg. There was no mention on the leaflet about it being targeted. Can't be bothered taking it further, but just thought I'd let fellow Ozbargainers know before you go to the trouble of applying using one of these offers in the future.

  • finally received by 20,000 points.

though I did have to call up about a week ago.
