Can anyone confirm if phone is fine?

    • +11

Due to extensive research done by the University of Queensland, phone has been confirmed as being fine. The research is as follows:

Pocket-protected scientists built a phone and downloaded an offer into it at 400 megabites per second and the phone was unharmed. They then built a panflet out of offers and tried to scan it with a phone at 400 scans an hour, and the offers were accepted just fine. They then presented a phone purchased with 400 individual offers, and there were no survivors.

I ran out of ideas. Phone is still fine though.

    • As above, android phone is fine :)

      • +1

only windows phone not fine :(

        • Didn't work on iPhone4. App developers getting really slack nowadays.

  • Dinner sorted for my friend and I! Thanks, mate!

    • +4

      *my friend and me

      • +1

*my friend and I is correct

        • +8

          Would you say:

          "Dinner sorted for me."

          or

          "Dinner sorted for I."

          ?

"Dinner sorted for my friend and me" is correct.

        • -4

          @Scrooge McDuck:
Lol, are you an expert on English to correct others? From a usage perspective it is far more polite to put others first hence the use of I. Anyway please refer to this article for a detailed discussion of the subject http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/1133/my-friends-a…

        • +3

          @Scrooge McDuck:
If anyone is interested, the actual correct English is:
"my friend and myself" when "me" becomes the object in a sentence.

  • I am full. Thanks OP!

  • -2

    Barely any locations.

  • Thanks OP, eating my free burrito as I type. FWIW tried ordering a $5 burrito for my partner after I received mine using the app . Didn't work, I must have to wait until tomorrow.

  • +1

Time to utilise the 20 optus sims I've got laying around. Free lunch for the week sorted

  • Tried to use their stupid god damn app, claimed my free burrito and when I went to place the order it crashed… now my free burrito is gone. I'm devo. :(

    • You don't need the app just show them the email confirmation.

      • Not in the store I went to

      • Didn't even get an email?

    • After several attempts at connecting to GYG, I finally got all the way through to PayPal to make the payment and the app failed on the way back in from that. No confirmation, no order, no free burrito today.

      • I ordered early today for a later pickup. No issues with payment. Free option was still there. Lunch sorted.

  • Lunch sorted for tomorrow!woo

  • my brightness shoots to max whenver i tap any top part of the screen

    • +5

That's to make it easier for the scanner to read your barcode.

    • Sounds like you need to stop tapping the top part of the screen.

  • Has anyone tried the fajitas? Are they worth getting over the burritos for an extra $1.50? From the menu all it says is that it's the same as a burrito, but includes sautéed veggies, vinaigrette and creme

    • If you're hungry, yes!

Otherwise, I usually find it difficult to just finish the regular burrito

    • +1

Fajita bowl is my pick at GYG, with brown rice. Dare you to be hungry afterwards!

  • +1

How long do I have to get this free burrito?

Got the app now, but not sure how soon I'll be able to make the trek up to a Guzman. (None down this way, sadly.)

  • +1

Ozbargainers beware! They are now charging you for lettuce as an extra. I don't know about you guys but I can't really support this. I'll take the free burrito though!

    • +1

i like lettuce and i'll contribute the fee since that is all i'm paying for. i wonder how many people go just for the free things and never actually buy from this business at other times. obviously their freebies generate a lot of good will.

      • +2

I just don't think it should be an option, I mean it's free everywhere else. Next they'll be charging us for the wrap!

    • How silly!

    • +2

are you for real! lettuce is cheap and a staple of pretty much every fast food.. what a stupid decision.

      • +1

Totally! I'd be giving out as much free lettuce as possible, it's always been there for filler imo!

    • Are you sure you are thinking of the right restaurant? Guzman and Gomez don't put lettuce in their burritos. That'd be gross..

      Allow me to illustrate http://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/af0874147977216e16e37a770…

      That green stuff is coriander

  • +3

THANKS OP!! Four friends just had an awesome Burrito and settlers of catan night!!! (I almost won :P)

  • -1

    Thanks OP.

Slightly off topic, when I went to pick it up the guy not only had zero idea what I was talking about, he couldn't understand anything I was saying.

Apparently "I'm very hard to understand". Oh sorry I have an Australian accent in Australia, how terrible of me. Think this guy normal works out back and not on the register.

    • +1

      Reason for the vote down?

  • Has anyone got the $5 burritos yet? I managed to get the free one yesterday after a bit of effort but I went to add one today and it is full price not $5.
It does say participating stores though and my local didn't participate in the Cinco De mayo $5 burritos…

    • +1

      Not working here either.

    • This is getting ozbargained, server error 500.

    • +1

      I can't find it…

    • +7

Windows Phone has less than 1% market share. Why would you expect companies to spend thousands of dollars developing Apps for a platform that basically no one owns. Stop being so self entitled, Gomez owes you nothing and has no obligation to cater for your niche phone choice. It certainly isn't discrimination.

      Neg reported.

    • +2

      someones mad

  • +1

anyway to find out the participating stores?

    • Start to place an order, get to the checkout screen and if you have an option to use your signup burrito it is a participating store and your account is setup.

      • cheers mate :)

  • This morning I opened the app, registered my mobile and then after about five minutes I got an option in the checkout screen to use my signup burrito. When I did, I got a $11.50 discount so free burrito. Looks like a bit of fiddling and a bit of patience is required. Hopefully this is lunch sorted.

  • Mine doesnt show any discount on check out. I havent input my card details, is that why?

    • You must verify your phone number, then on the check out screen there is a slider button for Special Offers

      • How can you tell if you've verified your phone number? (Can't remember if I did it during sign up)

        • I'm not sure sorry. I have already verified and claimed my burrito but if I go into the app now and select Verify Phone Number it still presents the prompt to enter in my number again.

  • +4

Server error code 500 anyone? Can't even look at the menu…

    • Same!

  • +3

it might be their server is ozbargained already… :'(

  • +4

Trying to order my lunch for the past 30 mins. The site is practically dead. Why isnt every on AWS with elastic computing?

      • -2

        Have a +.

Good work being on the ball.

  • +1

Bah, I've been trying to order mine for the past half hour. Site is swamped I'm guessing? I keep getting server error 500 and occasional bad internet connection and just the app is taking ages to load between screens. Should have ordered earlier!

  • Online ordering via their website is listed as unavailable.

The app tells me I have a bad internet connection (liars).

    • me too!! Missed the burrito boat I guess. Should've packed my lunch last night.

  • bloody hell…is their server broken?! Cant order & comes up with "Bad Internet Connection" I can't put my order through.
    Anyone got this?

    • +1

Did you look at the eight posts above yours?

      • +1

I was blind hahha at least for a few seconds!!

  • -1

Yep… Can't order. Evidently PHONE IS NOT FINE.

  • +1

  • spicy chicken was delish. one of the best burritos ive had

  • +2

ordered a burrito, was charged for a burrito. no option for a free burrito anywhere in checkout.

    • Did you verify your phone number with the app?

      • yes, there was a glitch in the system or something, they reset my account and i got one the next day.

  • Waited until later to get it since I figured the lines would be gone but it seems that the servers are too. :(

  • Works now. ordered a free one. sauteed vege one. Thanks.

  • Thanks for sharing OP, great find!

  • +2

You actually don't need to get a burrito. You can order what you like and then it just knocks $11.50/$12.50 off the price

  • App seems to be back up. Just collected.

  • Apparently the disc doesn't apply for the one in Westfield Sydney.. :(
    There goes my dinner tonight

    • it works

      • how did you do it?
I don't see the free burrito toggle in the cart?
        https://postimg.org/image/5qus4e95z/

While if I use other store, there's the free burrito toggle in the cart

        • +1

Didn't try Westfield but works for MLC centre.
Ps you need to charge your phone.

        • +1

          @tarken:
yeah, the one in MLC centre only opens until 4PM.
It wouldn't have been OK if their servers didn't crash during lunch time :P

thanks for the reminder, i'm planning to charge my phone later tonight

  • Online Ordering Service update:
We're so sorry about the issues you're experiencing with the app. It looks like everyone wants that free burrito..

Silly you… Who doesn't want free burritos

  • Thanks to the cool Asian girl at MLC food court today 1pm who was so persistent and spent a lot of time arguing due to server error.. I just stand nearby listening untill the manager allowed us to get free burrito without app.

Hopefully tomorrow when the server back online my free one is still there.

Two frees are better than one.

    • +1

my order at MLC went through, but didnt get an order number. The manager still said ok for the burrito. The discount burrito is still showing up, so I may get another one tomorrow if the server is not broken

    • +5

Shoulda put a ring on it. Imagine having someone doing all the arguing for you the rest of your days

      • i'll keep my distance from such person with such personality.

    • give me a break. arguing for the sake of free burrito. can't that girl accept the reality that you can't always get what you want? the manager just fed up dealing with this kind of customer i believe. shame..shame…

  • Anyone been able to order a $5 one yet?

    • +4

some of us are still trying out the free one..

    • +2

I managed to get the free burrito tonight, but when I went back in the app to order the $5 one it just displays as normal price?
