Was posted a while back, but thanks OP!

    • +22

Don’t know why people still using this as most of the dishes I looked are over 30% dearer than the actual store, is it just because the free delivery?

      • +12

Agree. DoorDash, even with discounted GC has been the most expensive. Have not used them in over a year.

        • +3

I use it solely for Costco with the 20% discounted giftcard

          • @alo1234: You can Doordash order from Costco??

            • @kickling: Yep and prices are close to in-store if you link your membership

              • @nategasm: Is this for food at the restaurant? Costco do delivery themselves for other stuff.

                • @tenpercent: There's actually no food from the restaurant/kiosk available. It's all their other stuff, a Doordash person goes to the store and shops for you (like for Coles/Woolies). They have most things available, even things that Costco don't deliver themselves like the fresh food. But some notable things are missing like the roast chicken :(

                  • @nategasm: Oof. I've never been to my Costco without waiting in queue for 10+ minutes

                    • @jonathonsunshine: Hence why Doordash is awesome for Costco, someone else can deal with the crowds while also paying less (with gift cards). Only downside is there is no live stock levels so you don't know if the popular stuff will be in stock

      • Yeah couldn't agree more. We also found with DoorDash they combine 4 to 5 deliveries and as a result, the food would be ice cold by the times it was received.
We have Prime but still wouldn't use them!

        • +2

the food would be ice cold by the times it was received.

Unless of course you order an ice cold drink

          • +3

@montorola: In which case it ends up melted by the heat of all the intially hot orders inside the same delivery bag.

            • @tenpercent: Ah, welcome to OzExaggerate, where we must use extremeities to describe situations just to get our point across!

      • Got plenty of offers past 6 months spend 25$ and get 40% off

      • +1

I use it exclusively for a good nearby burger shop that, surprisingly, has their normal menu prices on DoorDash. After free DashPass and service fees, we usually end up paying ~$2 for delivery, which is a fair deal. But yeah, unless you can find a unicorn restaurant, it's still not worth it.

      • +1

I only use them when there is a 35/40% discount, which is quite often.

Agreed that it's about 20% dearer on average, but after discounts it's close to or cheaper than in-store. Plus it's delivered so that's fuel saved as well.

  • Been done

  • +10

nearly forgot to put in my calendar to cancel in 2 years time lol thanks for reminder

    • +1

      Same

    • Just went to do the same thing and got distracted by the pictures. I now have a pizza on the way. FML

      • So you get pickup prices with free delivery?

        • 40% off a loaded supreme from dominos ~$16.50 (40% off) and a $4 service fee.

          • @Froot Loops: You paid $20 for a dominoes pizza is all I'm seeing. What deal?

            • @Lucidium: Something like that. $6 or $7 extra.
Also beats walking up and down the hills around Coogee at 11pm to pick it up. Most places in my area (being a tourist spot) also charge a fair amount more for takeaway than elsewhere. Last time I had a beer at the Coogee bay, it was $17, just to show how bad prices are around here. Won't be going back there.

  • +1

Lol didn't even realise I accepted this in November 2024

  • +2

I didn't know as I just reacquired Prime, so thank you.

  • gentle!!

    • +1

      Why so mad?

      • +2

try to understand that I do want you as a store fan

  • +2

After I accidentally canceled my DashPass, I haven’t been able to reactivate it. My Amazon account says: “Your DashPass is now active.”

    • +1

This happened to me as well, gotta call DoorDash & they give you a link that sends you to a reactivation page

      • Thanks, I’ll call them tomorrow.

  • Any chance of getting prime renewal below $79 please?

    • Buy discount Amazon gift card first for Amazon Prime subscription.

  • +2

I keep getting this (even though I have an active Prime membership and have had for years) :

    Not eligible for offer
This offer is only eligible for Amazon Prime members. Subscribe to Amazon Prime to redeem this offer.

    Any ideas?

    • Maybe make sure both accounts (Prime & Doordash) are under the same name.

  • +4

I signed up long ago, and haven't used it ever. Can I cancel now and I remains active for the balance of the 2 years, just in case?

    • +1

Sadly it ends immediately - set a diary reminder for 2 years time

    • The moment your prime isn't active you have to activate it again

      • I cancelled prime long ago and still have the Dashpass

        • that's odd,

my prime is monthly and occasionally it's cancelled so i have to reconnect it each time i sign up again.

well nice that you still have it then i guess? you sure it's from amazon/prime and it's not charging any of your cards?

          • @AeymothSky: Billing History
This is your billing history for DashPass and does not include costs associated with other orders you've placed
            November 13, 2024
            A$0.00
For service from November 13, 2024 to November 13, 2026

          • @AeymothSky: The only thing I can think of is I changed the email address once. Maybe that meant the original Amazon and Dash link got broken.

  • +4

    Note you can't cancel early

  • +8

Maybe make people aware that the restaurants often jack prices up 15-30% on the meal overall is even if it includes "free delivery" from doordash. The restaurant may have delivery services in house that have better offers. It might be an okay compromise for someone who uses it however the terms should be clear.

    • +2

That is why I always look for buy one get one free deal, but the problem is both the same.

  • +1

I claimed back when previous deal was posted… I've still never used it

  • +4

If you cancel your Prime, then DoorDash is also cancelled btw

    • Good detail to know.

    • +1

I did not renew prime and doordash has been cancelled too

      • Was in the same boat however this week got an email from Amazon AU indicating the following and took them up on the free 12 months of Prime. Took about 3 business days to receive the confirmation once selected. Not sure if DD Pass will resume of if it can be applied again though.

Last year, in May 2024, we notified members about the introduction of limited advertising to Prime Video movies and TV shows starting 2 July 2024. We understand this change may have impacted your Prime membership experience.

As a valued customer, we noticed you recently cancelled your annual Prime membership and we would like to offer you one of the following options:
        1. Receive a pro-rated refund of $39.82 for your past annual Prime membership, calculated based on your cancellation date and time remaining in your annual plan as of 2 July 2024.
        2. Receive 12-months of Prime for free (valued at $79) to continue enjoying benefits.

  • Thanks

      • +2

Hey mate, just behave yourself, not today but always.

  • How do you get this to work? It just goes around and around, Get Your Free Dashpass > Allow > Get Your Free Dashpass > Get Your Free Dashpass > Allow

    I tried Firefox and Chrome

    • +1

I had the same problem. I’m struggling to remember but I think it had actually applied. Just close everything and then check if you have the pass in doordash.

  • +3

One thing i found out about this is if you cancel your Prime membership then the 2 year free DashPass is also cancelled. You've got to keep paying for the Prime membership for the entire 2 years.

  • +1

I literally posted this 7 days ago and it was deleted by mods.

Somehow I had never seen the original post.

    • Mods don’t like you 🤪

    • This was an error on our part for failing to realize the previous post was over the 6 month mark. We apologize for the mistake.

  • This is insanely frustrating. It says it’s active and I click through and then DoorDash says dash pass is inactive.

Try to find a help messaging for DoorDash and it’s all automated article bullshit.

  • +1

wow i'm on a free trial for prime and managed to scoop this up, huge value

    • +3

when the trial ends, if you don't renew your prime sub it will end immidiately :D

      • ahh damm worth a crack at least

  • +2

I have had dashpass from this offer for about a year and had 0 use so far.

I guess these deals are good to see whether subscription to their service would benefit you

  • +4

Took advantage of this offer a while ago, first order made had 2 out of 5 items missing. including the main item. Dasher ignored direct messages. Made claim through door dash and was denied any sort of refund or compensation. appealed decision and they upheld it. Ended up making a PayPal claim and got a full refund, door dash account deleted. FU door dash.

  • +1

I find DoorDash/Uber is very popular in the 18-25 year segment, I have a brother still living at home with old folks, there’s food every day free and ready, he still orders from these services and he tells me a lot of his mates are the same.

Keep telling him to save his money or at least get off his arse and go to the place at least, but he’s too ‘busy’, gaming.

  • +2

I took the offer last year, first order and the driver most likely took the food and said it was delivered. I had to message and call support that took a while to investigate, most likely forced the restaurant to prepare it again. A second driver was assigned, then cancelled the delivery, then a third driver was assigned and the food was eventually delivered almost 2 hours later, cold.

    NEVER USING DOORDASH AGAIN!

    • I've had something happen like that before (albeit with UberEats).

I've since figured out to only order from restaurants either within my suburb or a neighbouring one. The further out you order the less chance the delivery rider makes an effort to deliver it. Then you have to go through the refund rigmarole while going hungry which is not fun at all.

  • Not available on my area… Outer Melbourne

  • I haven't used it once since the original post. Peak 40% off (up to $5…) "deals". This is quickly cancelled out by the various fees.

  • I'm getting request error 400

  • +1

I signed up for this earlier in the year, it's still more expensive than Uber even with free shipping, high service cost.. drivers tend to deliver them later and get lost more often. At best you can get it delivered with GC discount for similar price to uber eats …. Pretty meh. Hardly use it now

  • Thanks OP, Added to my doordash.

  • +1

There’s deals to be found. The regular change fast food places are overpriced even with deals. However a lot of the local takeaway places can be similar to in store prices. Thus can be a good deal with the a good discount. Same as Menulog.

  • +1

I know this is free but Doordash is probably the worst food delivery business available. Orders are either very late, as in 45mins to 8 hours late or not delivered at all.

  • The previous one when you go to [Manage Dashpass] says the following, is this one the same? (as in there is a min spend of $20/35)

    "Status
    Free Trial
Enjoy $0 delivery fee on eligible orders you place over A$20 or A$35 on grocery.
    • Enrolled: 11/15/24
•Your DashPass is free until 11/14/26"
