      • Yeah I'll get behind you on that too.

      • Vodafone have gotten rid off their 10 countries unlimited calls just over 2 weeks ago I believe. Its 1000 minutes to selected countries and 120 to a few more countries!

For someone who has the unlimited calls (like me), I dont think I would make over 1000 minutes (16hours of talk time) of calls a month anyway!

    • match Vodafone's "90 standard international minutes to selected countries." and you may well have my business

  • Great, this looks good, especially for tablet data, this would win hands down if there was a $25 for 3GB. Good stuff OP.

    • thanks. Yeah a few people have suggested this is the sweet spot thanks.

  • Just wondering if I get mobile plan and mobile broadband plan if I can link it and share data across like Optus ?

    • Only reason staying with Optus because of the data share and premier league for next season.

    • no not yet sorry

  • +1

Is data usage on your mobile broadband plans (and I guess the question goes for mobile too) counted in kB increments or MB?

    • I want to know ,too

      • KB guys

  • Nice! Optus! I'm currently with optus at 18gigs for $100 per month… Why now Ovo!!! Optus 4G is phenomenal too! Can't say for everyone but I do easily get faster than NBN speeds.

  • any chance of a higher tablet plan? ie. $70/month for 75GB data? I'll be first to hop on.

quick q. If i put this on a mobile and tether across other home devices - i don't suppose there's any issue here? though i should really look at a dongle - yes.

    • thanks for the feedback - will channel into our marketing folks.

No problems with tethering, but as you say better if you get a purpose built mobile broadband device.

      • brilliant - take this up a notch and I'm with you

won't be surprised if you see ppl in my same shoe. and then, you're really going against the home broadband guys!

  • This deal isn't of interest to me, but the simple presentation and tackling of the main dodgy issues used by other providers is much appreciated.

Maybe you could teach sellingoutsoon how to write a post and respond to comments :p

    • +1

Hey thanks a million for saying so!

  • +3

    Is this owned by Drake?

    • I hope they use: "You used to call me on your cell phone…" as their slogan.

  • This better not be you Ben(Vaya)

    • +1

fill us in; who\what are you suggesting? lol

  • Website fixed yet?

    • Hey Rickas its working for 50%. We suspect its a load balancing issue. You mind having a go?

      • +1

just take the broken machine out :P jeez!! ;-D

      • Just tried, no luck getting it to work. It got to the registration page, then went back to the select plan page and loops.

Update: Just managed to order online. 50GB data sim

        • Rickas this is sorted now, thanks for the patience

  • +3

100gb data sim on month to month at a reasonable price…….

And you`d have lots of customers.

Not being locked into a 24 month contract, no set up (modem or line connection) fees and no long waiting period for connection.
, no fixed home line rental………

  • +1

Will be getting the $59.95 50GB! Thanks, and good bye to Vividwireless!

  • +1

    website still down :(

      Cheers

    • +1

      all sorted now semice

How does my plans compare with this:

I sit here with my $18 plan, and 1.5GB Data
$24.95 2GB, UNLIMITED CALLS & SMS in OZ
$34.95 8GB, UNLIMITED CALLS & SMS in OZ
I sit here: $40 for 10GB and unlimited calls + $300 international calls.
$44.95 12 GB, UNLIMITED CALLS & SMS in OZ

    Data SIM's:
And here again with $9 for 1GB data only.
    $29.95 13GB
    $44.95 25GB
    $59.95 50GB

    It's a no-go for me then.

    • I'm on Vaya with those same prices. Doesnt sound like the aforementioned deal would beat current vaya.

  • Looks like a great deal, but the completely non-functional signup page doesn't make a great first impression.

    • Ill cop that. you are right. apologies, but we have sorted it now.

      • +1

I ended up signing up regardless of the issues, primarily due to your efforts responding to people on here. Good work!

        • +1

          made my night! Cheers

  • +1

Would be interested if NBN wasn't being rolled out in my area… Great price for the data sims!

  • +1

Just want to thank everyone for their patience - site is now sorted. Looking forward to welcoming you to OVO :)

  • +2

We've got rep of the year over here!
Great customer service , very proactive!

    "Top seller, highly recommended%#!#%!^! A+++"

    • +1

      Cheers for that

I have tried to acquire a Huawei 4g modem from Officeworks but they are all out of stock and completely useless insofar as ordering one in for me. Does anyone have any other affordable hardware options to go along with this plan?

  • +2

any recommendations for 4g modem that handles lots of devices lots of multimedia usage (iphones, ipads, laptops, desktops, steaming devices)

  • Hi Rep,

Any smaller data only plans for budget users $10-$15 with decent data?

    Regards

    • +4

Work in progress. Stay tuned. Note you can always move to any plan at any time.

      • +1

Thanks and + vote for a quick reply.

  • Just signed up. Regularly using over 30gb with telstra so this plan is a god send. Only issue I have with it is I have already been charged and I haven't even gotten my SIM yet. So am I being charged for a few days usage without being able to use it?

Also do we have any means of checking data usage?

    • +1

The first 30 days starts from when you activate. So nope no days wasted.

You certainly can. Once activated log into the My Account. The login is on the top right of Ovo.com.au

  • +1

I'm considering ditching TPG unlimited ADSL2+ for this.. but have no idea how much data I actually use per month since TPG doesn't show that.

Is there any way of finding out the past usage with TPG?

    • +1

My Account > Check your account usage > Display usage for the period…

Looks like you'll have to calculate it manually, though.

      • Bummer, I assume I get this because I'm on the unlimited plan.

Usage not collected for the period 2016-08-03 to 2016-09-02
Usage not collected for the period 2016-07-03 to 2016-08-03
Usage not collected for the period 2016-06-03 to 2016-07-03

    • +3

Don't forget mobile internet count both upload and download. Normal ADSL2+ usually only count download towards their quota.

  • +1

So if I have a dual sim phone, can I put one of the data sims in the extra slot and use it on my phone for data?

    • +2

Sorry I can't confidently comment on this one

    • +1

Yes depending on your phone of course. Does your phone support 4g frequencies? Is the second card slot 4g or just 3g?

  • After a long time of a bad taste in my mouth with Vaya, I'm happy to be churning away with the $34.95 deal. Hope I don't regret it!

    Thanks OVO! :)

    • +1

      Great! Welcome to OVO

  • $35 plan seems like a good deal. I barely call or text anymore, just want a decent amount of data so I can stream Spotify without concern. Any other pre paid, non lock in plans comparable to this?

    • +2

Biting my tounge over here because of the announcements coming up from OVO regarding music. Anyway I agree go with a good data plan regardless

  • +3

Op, any future plans for 100gb plans?

    • +2

Not yet. But feedback here really helps us understand the demand.

      • Yes please! There are many of us unable to get ADSL but with great mobile coverage. I'd buy a 100GB plan in an instant!

      • +1

        100Gb+1

  • +9

I think you should change the name of the "Tablet" plan to "Data" plan. Tablet seems to be confusing too many people. Doesn't help that Telstra have/had some iPad only plans.

Sound like you should offer a 100GB data plan (or $99 data plan), although I am not sure how much better price per GB could be done compared to your current 50GB plan.

  • +3

Don't need it at all but giving this deal a +1 because companies like this make the market more competitive. Hopefully others follow. First mover advantage takes the cream.. errr $$.

  • +2

Are your data plans measured in kb or mb? I can't find an answer in the Critical Information Summary.

    • I asked same question through service chat but he did not give me the answer.
Just say to look the website.
I would wait to sign up until they answer clearly.

      • Hey there. Sorry to hear that.

If you wouldn't mind emailing [email protected] Im keen to investigate that further + of course Ill make sure you are looked after.

      • Actually just re-read your question sorry.

        Answer: We rate at 1024KB = 1MB

        • +6

I have a feeling he's asking if usage is counted in KB or MB. i.e. if you use 80KB in a connection session, does that count as 80KB, or 1MB?

        • +2

I hope you're not avoiding this question. Makes a huge difference

        • +3

          @eug: 80KB

        • +4

@toughen: not at all we 100% calculate at KB level :)

and fyi we are on a 30 day cycle, not 28 days like many :)

  • Do you have a data sim that is prepaid (i.e. no plan) with long term or no expiry? Only need it occasionally

    • +3

All our DATA SIMS's are prepaid. Data expires every 30 days. We will introduce a longer expiry plan soon.

  • Can't really use it at these data levels, but if a 100Gb or 200Gb plan came out, would be all over it. +1 though

    • +6

      Just get two 50GB?

  • Seems rather buggy… I tried to sign up with an email address with a plus (+) in it, and kept getting "order failed". Had to use an address without the plus.

Now I just hope those extra pending charges from the failed orders go away.

Also, when I try to view my info under my account, it all comes up blank?

    https://i.imgur.com/64Pfzyg.png

    500 internal server error?

    https://i.imgur.com/QFdBNvQ.png

And I never got the verification email link mentioned at the bottom of the page.

    This wasn't a great first impression :(

    • Hmm hang in there - massive day for us. thank you for the feedback we are flat out adding resouces

      • Reminds me of when Telstra somehow managed to add someone else's home broadband to my mobile account and then switched my account to his name (keeping my login details). That was a "fun" one to sort out. Actually, I think they're still using his name in emails but I'm too lazy to try to get them to fix that.

Your site's holding up pretty well to the traffic, actually. It's not gone down completely! I suppose my main concern is what cleanup I'll need to do later - do I need to come back and fix up my info, etc..

  • Hi OP,

Is it possible to use the 50gb for two sim cards and share the 50gb monthly? Similar to Vodafone family plan.

    • we dont have sharing yet im afraid. but to be honest you could optimise between the plans at your discretion we dont lock you in to any plan or contracts. But i understand - data sharing would be cool

      • Thanks for being upfront. I figured getting more bang out of my buck I can share 25gb of my data to my wife. Would be saving more here.

  • Good job! Very good rate for the phone plans! If I wasn't stuck with Telstra MX+ plan for 6 more months, I would have switched over!

I guess in 6 months I will see you again!

    • +1

you might check what the exit fees are - they are in the 24x7 app I did when we launched ovo :)

      • +1

Apparently, I think they got rid of that section. I vaguely remembered that it was in the app. But now I can't find it any more so it will be manual tracking….

        • +1

oh so they upgraded the app to be less transparent?

          :)

  • Signed up. If works out will ditch my pathetic Belong adsl.

  • Can you please answer the question above about whether data is metered by KB or by MB.

i.e: if I use 400kb of data, is it counted at 400kb, or as 1MB ?

    • +2

      100% KB charging

      1024 = 1MB

      • +1

I just spoke to your online rep Brenton who said it is per MB charging. Please update your website so we consumers can make an informed decision on your service based on this information.

  • how is 50gb for $50 possible?

    • +2

$60. because we are here to disrupt and, frankly not to be like every other telco

  • I like how you're out to disrupt the mobile industry. My wife and I are on TPG's T4G A plan for the generous included value that can be used on international calls. If you were able to offer plans with similar value in relation to international calls then you could count us as customers :)

    • +1

great feedback and thanks. Ive got a list of items you guys have all shared that we will brainstorm internally - as soon as everyone has some sleep after todays bull rush! :)

  • +1

can someone recommend a good 4G modem suitable for a fixed house setup? i.e. ADSL replacement.
