100th post! Congratulations!!! Thanks for all the posts and another great deal. Keep them coming.

  • +14

Good price but I'd rather pay the extra $1.08 and get it from Officeworks or The Good Guys deal for $340.20.

    • -1

Sure!, but here on OzBargain if we can save even the littlest bit…, we still do!

    • Is the OW/TGG version the dual sim version as well?

      • +3

Yeah looks all good, although I had to go on Whirlpool to confirm that OW/TGG/HN model is the same XT1642 Aus model and definitely has dual sim as none of those details were mentioned anywhere on their websites/listings. I think there may be some single sim XT1642 models in other countries? Someone mentioned specs for spain said only single SIM and also Kogan listed the 2nd sim for the 32GB version as 2G only but that is probably a website error.

        Comments off that thread:

Harvey Norman $399. The model is XT1642

Moto G4 plus this morning from Goodguys Capalaba. Have Aldi 4G and Telstra 3G SIMS running great

My Aussie retail model is the XT1642. Operations with both 4G and 3G SIMS seem to be without any bugs.

        • +1

Awesome! Yeah I had trouble figuring that out because it's not explicitly mentioned otherwise. Great option for a cheap travel phone!

    • +1

For sure, would be good if you can combine with TGG recent $25 voucher digital catalog deal.

If you can use two vouchers (which apparently you can) then it will make it $50 off $379, making it a $329 phone. Thats if the Price doesnt go back up to $399….

      • Nice idea but most likely it will be back at $399 by the time the vouchers arrived as TGG special is listed as ending tonight "As Advertised price ends 08 August 2016 extended to 16 August 2016".

        • Dam thought so, i guess it still makes it the same price as this deal if people miss out. I actually want to pay cash which is when these deals suck as no doubt if i walk into the store and say i want it for the same as i can get it online they will say No.

    No NFC; no deal

    • +1

Sorry I couldn't help you out there pat_mac

    • damn, yea if this phone had NFC it would tick all my boxes :(

  • +1

Wouldn't you rather get a zenfone 3 with that price.

  • Looks like this is 2G only on second sim, ie. useless in a few months.

Does anyone know of any dual sim phones without this problem?

    • +8

G4 is first Australian dual sim phone to support 4g simultaneously

      • Oh cool, thanks.

      • +8

        No that's incorrect. Sim1 4G sim2 3G I know this because I own this phone.

        • +4

Yeah 4G/3G. This is looking promising. Hopefully no issues with this phone.

        • +3

Sorry, I mean 4g and 3g simultaneously. Not 4g on both

        • Wow that's awesome!

If only some of the flagships (e.g. Nexus) came with dual sim, would be over the moon.

        • Whichever sim is set to data can use 4G; while the other sim will be dropped to 3G. Try switching your data to Sim 2 to test.

    • LG V10 but not Australian delivered. Can order from ebay. Nearly supports all LTE freq.globally but will need to software mod if you want all global LTE freq.

  • Cheers!

Moto g4: any bargains/recommendations for cases + tempered glass screen protectors ?

    • Ooohhh, sorry mate I dont know anything about this phone and what cases are good

But its good to know that it is gorilla glass for this model, scratch resistant, a little drop proof blah blah blah

    • Your choice of cases + tempered glass screen protectors http://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-nillkin-moto-g4-plus.h…

    • I just ordered cheap ones from Ebay from overseas.

    • +1

Can recommend the Ringke case and TAGG tempered glass. Both available from Brisbane based sellers on eBay.

  • have a g3 - had no idea that a g4 even came out! looks nice - the g3 camera is pants….

Ripper phone at a ripper price, don't miss out on this deal!

You sound like a you're trying to sell it lol.

  • Bugger, I bought the G4 Plus from Officeworks via Mobilecitiy pricematch last Saturday….Guess I will have to get another one and return my previous one…Does anyone know if they are cool with that?

  • How would this compare to a Nexus 5?

  • +2

No NFC, no interest. Prefer the recent LG Nexus 5X deal (which is also cheaper).

  • Well the Moto G series is no longer considered a low range model line by Motorola.

    • No NFC <> high range that's for sure.

  • How come they dont have the 32gb ones?? DAMMITTT

  • I'm quite new with this dual Sim phone idea, can someone please explain whether I can choose where the outgoing call is made from, as well as which Internet data to be used?

How about contacts? Will it be a combined contacts?

    • dual sims are great for kids, I set my sons up so he has his voice sim that people can call him on , but data is on a sim from my phone plan for data sharing , I can't use 10 GB month so we share that. he is 9 years old so,loves his data. if he calls his friends he skypes or tethers his iPad and face times.

      • Nice, do you need special app or this is configurable from stock android?

My plan is to use this dual Sim for work

        • You can select what sim to make calls, what sim to send messages, & what sim to use for data.
No special app is needed it comes as standard.

        • @chadiwrx: Fantastic, thanks for your help and effort uploading it to imgur :)

        • @chadiwrx: Hi chadiwrx, can you do me a favour to check whether call forwarding options can be customised on specific sim only?

This is the scenario I want to have:
          - Sim 1: Always forward the phone call to other number
          - Sim 2: call forwarding only when busy, unanswered and unreachable

          Thanks heaps!!

Also, are you using "Motorola Moto G4 Plus" phone or something else?

        • @televisi: Yes I'm using the G4 Plus & yes you can customize each sims call forwarding options.
          Network dependent of course.

        • @chadiwrx: Fantastic! thanks kindly!

  • Better than 3G then?

  • +1

Good deal. Shame, Motorola offers only 12 month warranty. Does anybody know how difficult/easy is it to claim the statutory warranty after 12 months ?

    • Buy with a decent creditcard and you'll receive additional 12 months warranty.
