I dont see any discounts on site?

Of course not, the sale starts on the 11th when the current catalogue is finished. I've already listed a number of actual prices from the sale along with all the discount categories.

See the date details on the listing - "11–24 Aug In 3 days"

        Thanks

I have noticed that Masters are having quite a bit of these discounts in different departments. Does anyone know if they are restocking once they have sold these sale items, or is this all part of the closing down procedure?

They're just clearing out stock that doesn't sell well, unlike Bunnings who leave the rubbish on the shelves for years Masters have been clearing it out as they don't have the huge profits that Bunnings has which is why they are so lazy.

Woolworths said they are exiting the hardware business, not shutting down Masters. At this stage they are still in discussions with prospective purchasers.

      • +23

Hopefully masters remain to keep Bunnings in check. It'll be sad to see them go otherwise.

        • From my visits to each store. I've never seen either one stock the same brand item. So I've never seen a price war or competition between the two.

You can thank Bunnings for this as they drop suppliers the instant they supplier other companies.

You are wrong on the competition however there are plenty of examples where Masters has pushed prices down at Bunnings like the recent 25% off PVC fittings at Masters prompted Bunnings to do the same despite being different brands.

        • +1

          @guy incogneto:

We've seen so many times here on OzBargain, Masters has a special on their products (paint, ladder etc) and Bunnings will respond within the week.

      • +15

I hope they don't shut down. As I do find their service far superior to bunnings.

        • +1

I prefer the look and layout of their stores, too

        • +1

          @rorymeister:

True, I didn't like it at the start, but now I prefer it to Bunnings.

Going into Bunnings now it's so dimly lit, almost feels like a seedy warehouse lol

  • Thanks, I need to get some laminate flooring so if it is 25% off i could be saving about $250!

    • Cordless chainsaw kit is 459 atm. With 30% off that's 321.3

Catalogue clearly states $279 for the kit with a saving of $120. Just means a bigger bargain.

so 50% off all screws? perfect time to build a deck

  • Goddamn it I just bought screws from Bunnings!

    • I bought $30 worth of nuts and bolts from masters on friday.

      • +1

If you kept the receipt you're all good ;-))

    • You can always return itI

    • +1

Which department did you find those in? You should share - some people are lacking LOL

    • +1

Search for fastener suppliers, you'll probably find one fairly local. If you've got a big job (deck, fence etc.) then you can save a fortune. Both Bunnings and Masters charge an obscene mark-up on screws and bolts. I only buy from them if I need fasteners at the weekend.

      • Where do you buy them from during the week ?

  • looks like they are dumping the Triton Brand of tools. Wondering if its worth buying a discontinued line that you wont be able to get parts / accessories for ?

    • +2

3 year warranty is available if you register within 30 days at Triton Tools. In any event, I'd suggest that you give the tools a good test shortly after you buy them just in case you get a bad one so that you can exchange in store.

  • good deck deals ?
planning on getting a decking done.

  • +6

ahh i glanced at that and read 30% off LEGO :(

  • Sweet needing outdoor blinds.

  • Are the discounts already added to the price you've put up? Or deduct it when the sale starts on the 11th? So it will be 40% off $2.40 for the decking pine?

    • Are the discounts already added to the price you've put up? Or deduct it when the sale starts on the 11th? So it will be 40% off $2.40 for the decking pine?

The prices I listed are from the catalogue after the discount has been applied.

      • Hmmm, I purchased the decking pine a few months back at $2.35 a metre with no sale.

  • Which composite decking brand is better? Permatimber or futurewood?

    • +1

Which composite decking brand is better? Permatimber or futurewood?

Personally I would always use real timber (not pine) for decking, it's cheaper and arguably can last longer with the right care. It has other benefits as well as a better feel to it, better looking and it doesn't heat up as much in summer.

      • +1

Composite decking requires no maintenance though, good for the time poor

        • +1

Composite decking requires no maintenance though, good for the time poor

It still requires maintenance because of the underlying joists etc. The time to recoat a deck every year or two can be measured in the hours and you can always find matching timber to replace a board or two whereas with composite (plastic) decking this is likely to not be available when you need it.

I suspect that composite decks will end up as another short term fad.

        • duplicate.

      • Can't see myself oiling my deck every year…so composite unfortunately is the only way to go..The question now is how much to spend?

  • Is the Triton reciprocating saw also 40% off? Time to complete the collection if so…

    • Is the Triton reciprocating saw also 40% off? Time to complete the collection if so…

If it's available as a bare skin it's 40% off.

      • It is, so I guess it'll be $59.40.

        • Actually, it was $59. They also had a pendulum / orbital jigsaw there for $77 which wasn't listed on the website.

Not a bad collection of tools for under $500 with a 3 year warranty.

          Hammer drill / oscillating multi-tool / 1.5Ah battery / charger: $39.40
          Angle grinder / drill driver / LED work light / 2x 2Ah batteries / charger: $149.50
          Reciprocating saw: $59
          Circular saw: $89
          Impact driver: $77
          Pendulum jigsaw: $77

          Total: $491.10

  • just 30% off ego kits? Need a new charger and maybe a battery damn…

    • Picked up a blower kit. I stacked with 5% trade discount (must have ABN). Got 5% off from egift card as well, only 200 bucks worth though

So in the end picked it up for 244-5% = 231.8 minus 10 bucks = 221.8. Didn't bother with the price match as that store is only in QLD, i'm in VIC. Still happy because I needed a battery and charger, basically got the blower for free. I assume everything is going brushless that's why there's a discount.

  • I'd recommend picking up the anything you order. I ordered a few items for delivery over a week ago on 2 separate orders. They say that items will be shipped next day but both orders are still "order being processed"

  • Does anyone know if the closetmaid shelftrack wardrobe kits and systems etc are included in the 30% off price?

I have no idea what you are doing but I have checked at multiple locations and all show the discount. If your store does not show the discount they will manually apply it in store or call up the helpline for online orders.

  • +2

it states " 30% off ego kits excludes lawn mowers" Last time I checked my line trimmer was not a lawn mower. And the line timer is part of the ego kit.

        • OK, so you're after the brushless model - which is fine - but it's not on sale. That doesn't change the fact that there is another model available at 30% discount.

If you click through the banner on the Masters homepage, only the brushed models are listed as being on sale.

The catalogue itself only has the blower and chainsaw listed.

OP clearly stated that the bargain is '30% off EGO kits', not '30% off ALL EGO kits'. You haven't been misled.

        • @Nomadesque:

All is assumed as it indicates exclusions. It should have stated selected EGO kits, or excludes lawn mowers and line trimmers. The ones you linked to are no longer available.

        • @harryzee

Oh, but they are available at some Masters stores, as Maverick-au has already stated and screenshotted. I can C&C at Canberra Majura Park store, for example.

        • @Nomadesque:
Ok. But it's a discontinued model. All the more reason it should include the brushless range, The blower kit is included.

        • @harryzee:

I would go into store and ask for the discount or jump onto the online chat and ask them now.

Loctite for example says selected items and wardrobes says ALL so it's not clear if it's all EGO kits which is what I would assume.

        • @Maverick-au:
          Will do. Cheers

        • Tried live chat. Was told they were going to have a look and page refreshes with Chat no longer available. Tried again. and same thing. I guess lunchtime is more important. No wonder they are going under.

        • @harryzee:
I just bought the EGO brushless trimmer kit from the Chullora store at 30% off with the Manager's approval. Used wish cards for an additional 5% off. There is 1 more left.

I will pop around tomorrow. cheers

Bunnings rarely offer discounts, don't offer live chat (try ringing a store and see how many times you are hung up on), don't offer click and collect and don't offer online ordering unless you have a trade account (and this is limited with no stock availability) but they are not going under.

        • @Hitster:
Got the last one yesterday with 30% and wish cards 5%. Service was very good. Very friendly staff. Thanks for the heads up Hitster

  • Stainless steel decking screws are not on special. I was holding off buying from Bunnings, waited for nothing :(

    • Stainless steel decking screws are not on special. I was holding off buying from Bunnings, waited for nothing :(

Yes they are and why on earth would you buy from Bunnings or Masters anyway? Better product and value from http://stainlessstore.com.au/

      • I didn't know that site. I bought 500 pack for $28 from Masters and that site sells 1000 pack for $99. It's larger size and probably better quality but I definitely don't want to spend that much.

  • What a blow no delivery! lucky nothing i have to buy can not even find decent screws oh well maybe next time.

  • why aren't 302 stainless steel screw not on sale? are they not "screws"?? the 316 grades are on sale… surely it's a mistake?

You mean 304 stainless and they are on sale, sometimes the discount shows already on the item, sometimes it shows at checkout and sometimes a product has been missed and you need to ask them to correct it.

      • Nah 302 decking 10g 50mm 500 pack. It doesn't have the yellow tag under it. All the other screws has.

  • Merged from Loctite Pro Line Fast Grab Premium Adhesive 295ml 12pk - $12 (Was $113) @ Masters

Saw this in email from Masters about 2 hours ago. Look like a good deal to me.

Should I stock up a box? What do you think?

Edit: Also available as singles for $1 here

    • It wasn't $101, it was for $113.
      It says you save $101

Nice deal for those who use it..

      • LOL, yeah, you're right. I have corrected the title. Thanks

I purchased 6 boxes myself. Havent used thi product before but if its half as good as the selleys products Ill be happy at that price!

These are labelled to have a shelf life of 12 months. Couldn't figure out the code they used for manufactured date, ie. good if you are planning to use it soon.

      • Ah, that reminds me the most recent skin care product Priceline discount.

I bought this then realised it expires Nov 2016. Checked all stores in VIC and no store carry batch with later expiry date.

My fence in backyard was broken by the wind last night, maybe I can spam all glue :) (joking)

    • Thanks….just bought 2.
