      Not with .id.au.

      Also check with auDA for eligibility. IIRC for .com.au/.net.au you'll need either ABN, ACN, state registered business number or an IP Australia issued trade mark number. So no, you don't really need an ABN, but it's probably the easiest way to get a .com.au domain.

        any workaround to getting this without ABN? (talking about .com.au). Or can I purchase this and register the name once I get my ABN. Was planning on lodging it this weekend but will probably take 2-3 weeks to come through

          Unfortunately the majority of .au domain names come with an eligibility requirement or two (for good reason!). 

          @Drifta - If you're interested in picking up a .com.au domain name sometime soon and are left waiting for your ABN to be provisioned (missing the sale!), we recommend contacting our management team by emailing [email protected] so that we can look after you. :)

    We use VentaIP to host our Athletics Club website and email. We had a self inflicted problem with both that they quickly solved on our behalf even though it was not their issue. 5 Stars for customer service!

      Agreed. My sporting club used to host on Servers Australia when they were bought by VentraIP. I had a slight tech issue and VentraIP's customer service was so quick to fix it I hardly had time to finish describing the problem. Local Aussie staff too.

      We are also a NFP and they have promised to look after us with very favourable costs when our renewal comes up.

      10/10.

    Extra benefit: VentraIP have one-click Let's Encrypt SSL certificates which auto-renew every 90 days. Working perfectly on my four sites. Makes it very easy to have SSL.

    I've had good experiences with VentraIP. I like their domain dashboard. I noticed there's even a preset for Google Apps for Work now. I recommended them to a friend during Customer Appreciation Week last November and they got heaps off for domain registration and hosting, and were able to consolidate services from several suppliers which were costing much more (mostly due to their not paying attention to who was providing what and at what cost).
