    posting my experience, might help some people…
    got 2 bulbs, used android app and followed the instructions and light1 connected flawlessly. i followed the exact same instructions for light2 - i could connect to the light's wifi signal, but then when i used the app to "connect light" (to connect it to my actual internet wifi), i could see the light in the next menu but after i clicked on it, app took a while then eventually said "Oops, that didn't work…" and said to try again after turning off for 1 second. I did this multiple times. Then i hard reset the bulb and tried to connect, a number of times, still didn't work. tried closer to router, same message.. changed router channel from 6 to 1, same message. hard reset again, same message. then i used my gf's iphone to try to connect it to my wifi, still didn't work. then weirdly i tried my android app again with the same settings, and voila it worked!

    then i did the firmware update for both bulbs using the mac desktop updater (read on here using android can be annoying), i started it at 9pm and it finished at 9am the next morning. got stuck at 32.07% at one point, had to exit out of the updater and start it again (progress is saved so you don't have to go back to 0%, i would try not to stop the update unless i had to though given how long it was taking!). had exit/start once more near the end, and again after it got to 100%, to make it finalise properly.

    despite the issues, these lights are AWESOME and now working flawlessly. Having heaps of fun with them. You may need to be persistent and google what worked for other people, try ios, android, desktop etc to see what works for you. (or maybe it will be flawless like my light1, i hope so!). Good luck!

    Just wanted to get your thoughts on enclosed light fittings. Reading above about some of the heat it generates, do you think it will have any issues in an enclosure such as this will cause any heat issues. The enclosure is tall enough for the globe to fit in.

    • Is it completely sealed up the top? If so then I'm guessing it's going to cause problems sooner or later.

      Even if it's not, without any openings in the bottom for cool air to enter, it's not going to be able to dissipate the heat very fast.

      Should be ok. The bulbs will shut themselves down if they overheat. I have mine in similar fixtures and they have been connected and running for over 12 months without issue.

    100% recommended. purchased 1st light… installing no problem

    purchased 2nd light a week after receiving my 1st one…
    got problem with connection issue… email support, received reply in less than 15 mins [and it is sunday in melbourne]

    advising me to update the firmware via the desktop [altough i have done it on mobile]

    after updating via macbook… it is working 100% fine…

    absolutely recommended… great customer service, great product… and also, i am someone who really lazy to write review and advise people.. but, i'd really want to write this message to recommend people…

    Received my 4 today. All set up via ipad no issues at all. Controlling via my galaxy s7 and absolutely loving them. About to order more

  • I actually had to change my router to work with these globes, though it was pretty old. They don't like WEP it seems, have been ok since switching to a WPA router and updating one at a time. Bit finicky to get working and annoying when one globe drops off the control panel and has to be powercycled to reappear, but they are cool and the colours are nice, I bought a few more. It would be good if there was a refresh/reconnect button in the App that could find previously connected globes without having to reboot them. Also finding it difficult to save scenes, the option to save a scene isn't appearing in the app where the instructions say it should be (and it is up to date).

    • Consider the bulbs to have done you a favour.. Long overdue to move away from WEP ;)
