  • Hopthief is ok at this price.. Marginally cheaper than the usual deals on squires cases

pity it's the new hop mix and not the galaxy. that beer was the bomb.

      • +1

I did love the old one, but have also come to love the new one. Great price for a sixy of this quality IMO.

      • I didn't notice it was Series 8 before I ordered. I'm not sure I've tried it but I did like the Galaxy recipe.

      • +3

WHAT?!? They changed the mix?? Nooooooooooooooooooo… !

I have a dozen Galaxy mix left… now each time i crack one open it will feel like star going supernova.. boooo

New one is okay, no where near as good as the old one.

      • To each their own, I like this quite a lot more than 7 but neither of the two most recent are as good as 6 was.

  • Can anybody comment on the Steersman?

    • tried their Blonde….tasted similar to Pure Blonde for me…even the bottle looks the same…

Woolworths branded beers. Would recommend you to stick with Arch Vally (yes another Woolworths branded beer but has decent taste and only 30$ per slap) if you are in budget.

      • Hollandia is good too, although not a WW branded beer it's exclusive to them, bws and uncle Dan's.

        • Both from Nederlands, I believe.

  • Yay, the hop theif is back!!!

  • +2

Wasn't Hop Thief $10 last time. I'm sure it was.

    • Yes it was. I caned that almost every day for the 3 I could grab.

An awesome beer for the price.

There was a liquorland voucher for $10 for the James Squire 6 packs, which included Hop Thief, it's possible you're remembering that.

      • +6

One of the very first member offers that DM did was for the original Hop Thief at $10. That was probably the best ever deal they offered and was jumped all over by the OzB fraternity.

Since then there have been numerous references to it when Uncle Dan sends out his monthly offers and they have fallen somewhat short.

        • Since then there have been numerous references to it when Uncle Dan sends out his monthly offers

Uhh, that'd probably be jv. Every. Single. Month.

        • That's probably where I'm remembering it from. Cheers

Oranjeboom cider is value for money on a pure $/std drink basis.

    • Is it ok? Sweet vs dry?

      • Haven't actually tried it, but the reviews sound promising

Why oh why can't a dark beer/ale go on sale? I really should have stocked up on Montieth's Black Beer when I had the chance.

    • indeed that Black Beer was much better than I expected…

      • Not sure if it's still on sale but James Squires Porter was 2x6packs for $32 at First Choice last week. Might be a monthly special so still have a few days.

        • It wasn't on sale at that price last Friday when I went to First Choice [Vic]. :((

EDIT: It is also down the list of the dark beers I drink. Pretty unmemorable. But it is available everywhere…

      • Indeed it was, and at its regular price it is still cheapest out of the other quality dark ales like white rabbit, lord nelson, etc.

It has become my go to since I can't get McLaren Vale DRK on tap anymore. :(

    • The current members dark beer is ok.
I drank both and Coopers side by side, all on par. I still like Coopers slightly better
Also tried Lindt 90% chocolate together. Not I'd recommend tho

    • Isn't the asahi black on special?

      • My bad, it's a free delivery offer

  • Does anyone actually buy pacific radler? I picked up a couple of free 6 packs on a promo about 6 months ago. Still have 10 in the fridge. Pretty ordinary stuff… 6 are being gifted to my boss as a Christmas present this year.

    • +6

You looking for a new job in the New Year then???

      • +1

Maybe his boss is German, or a cyclist?

        • Beer drinking cyclist here. I would fire him.

        • +1

          @Fappo: but are you German?

    • +2

Good for camping on a hot summer day, when you are too hungover to have full strength beer for breakfast.

    • They will smell a rat about your generosity if he/she checks the best before date.

  • Pacific Radler 6pk is $8. Please fix the title. Thank you.

      Oops, my bad!

  • Sol with a bag of Chips seems like a good deal to me. Does anyone notice a difference between Sol and Corona?

    • +7

To me Sol tastes like 'flat' Corona… like its been left out open in the sun for too long. Some people don't seem to mind it though.

      • Thanks! I can let customers know of other people's experiences.

    • I used to like Sol until it changed where it's brewed for the Aussie market…now i don't even bother with it..not as nice.

  • What's the Yalumba Persuader normally go for? And what is it like?

  • +3

The offers are getting even crapper.

  • +3

If you're a pale ale fan I wouldn't bother with the Yenda, wasn't impressed in the slightest. It's just Coca Cola's new beer arm attempting to steamroller into the 'craft beer' market.

    • Yep, the craft beer equivalent of milquetoast

    • I agree, I didn't like any of the Yenda beers.

    • Wife loves it..I just can't stand the stuff. I think it's a beer for people who don't normally drink beer.

  • Sick.. Oranjeboom Apple Cider Cans 500mL $36 is a good price

  • +1

Carton of Hop thief for $45 at First Choice (assume you use $10 voucher that has been published here). Compare to $48 at Dans (4x$12=$48).

    • Even better: price match at First Choice and get a carton for $42.90 with the voucher.

      • +1

Or Coles $10 James Squires six pack voucher, recycle 4 times for $40

        • Touché, you win the hunt for the cheapest Squires!
