I think for $170 more, the 55" he mentioned is worth the extra money (link)

8 bit colour isn't really HDR, need 10bit.

    • Just wonder how did you get a 10bit, the next one I thought would be 15/16 bit, on PC it's 24 bit for a while.

      • +7

10bit per channel. So 30bit all up. Standard for PC is 8bit per channel, hence the 24bit.

        • Thanks for clearing thing up.

  • Anyone know if this has FreeView Plus? Specs on EBay say yes, but not listed on the Freeview Plus website.

Yes it does. I bought one yesterday.

any thoughts which one is better

    1. NEW LG 55UH652T 55"(139cm) UHD LED LCD Smart TV ($1436 after 15% discount)
    2. NEW Samsung UA55KU6000W 55"(140cm) UHD LED LCD Smart TV ($1185 after 15% discount)

had a look at Samsung UA55KU6000W last weekend at TGG, but was not quite happy with the display (picture quality was blur) compared to LG 55UH652T

    any recommendations ?

    Cheers

    • Def the LG, The Samsung doesn't offer the full ability of HDR & is only 50Hz but it's could still be a good TV

    • The LG55UH652T is only $1488 online ($1264.80 after 15% discount) for me on ebay site

How can they be claiming HDR when it's only 8-bit? I thought it might have been an incorrect spec, but all over the web it says HDR and only 8-bit…

  • Does anyone have any information regarding the "Foxtel Play" app for this TV? Apparently it was removed from all Samsung App stores (old TV's included), does anyone have any inside info on when it will be re-released? I have a feeling it will probably not be until December when Foxtel Play undergoes it's plan pricing restructure. Not a big deal as this is still an amazing TV for the price (especially the 55" version) and there is always a Mini-PC hooked up for Foxtel Play until then.

    • Wish they would put on telstra tv or chromcast compatible

sigh paid more than this for a 55 inch 4K sony which doesnt have HDR :(

  • Very tempting, but must hold for my Sony 70" 4K TV this Xmas.

  • I went into JB HiFi yesterday and they were able to price match this exact TV.

    • +1

      Proof of purchase please

      • I chose not to buy it as I didn't like the picture on standard definition. Just thought it would be helpful to know that JB will price match. The guy looked up the deal on eBay and confirmed he could match it plus delivery.

  • with the ebay deal? how about interest free

  • Anyone has an opinion how this compares to the Panasonic deal? (Panasonic TH-50DX700A 50" UHD Smart 3D LED 200hz TV $1189 @ The Good Guys eBay)

    • The Panasonic TH-50DX700A 50" UHD for $1189 is by far the best of this trio.

can you please elaborate? thanks.I am also tossing between the 2 now. I was leaning toward panasonic until the guy at GG told me that samsung is a better built tv and interface is better than firefox OS. I have no clue…….

        • Samsung interface better than firefox? lol

        • @Colombian:
i guess you said it all. I have no clue! I don't own a smart tv. This is my first time looking for one. He just said that panasonic hasn't changed their interface for ages….

        • Compare the spec sheets of each TV. The TH-50DX700A is a premium model within this size range. The Samsung and LG models quoted here cannot match the Panasonics specs IMHO.

  • Can u use plex on it?

    • Yes, there's a Plex app in the Smart Hub.

      • good, good. This pleases me.

Though i prob need at least a 60" if im gona get it for the lounge… 65-70 would be ideal for under $1500

OP, delivery is based on postcode and varies depending on buyer's location.

I'm no expert on TV's; I used to have some knowledge but a lot of technology has changed.

If you're looking at the Samsung be aware that it's only 50hz, which is to say that the TV's on board software won't insert more frames to make motion smoother. IIRC, most LCD panels without motion interpolation achieve around 300 lines of motion resolution, which means you're likely to see some blur. Depending on the type of panel it is could make it this better or worse.

Here is a copy of the Panasonic review that someone was asking about (this review comes from UK, but AFAIK it should be applicable), https://www.avforums.com/review/panasonic-dx700-tx-58dx700b-…

Haven't looked for reviews of the Samsung but if you go to AVForums and and look for it you may find something applicable.

  • Anyone know if a delivery date can be set if purchased from eBay?

  • is TGG offering this discounted price in store ? any proof JB matching this price ?
