    delusional = well said.

    • Stock won't last = heaps of stock + couple more container ships incoming

  • -1

    do they have webber qs?

    • yeah but my local was sold out of them already at 10%off….

      • +16

They were always 10% off. Stupid people, I'm surprised Masters couldn't advertise properly to get these stupid people through their doors earlier.

        • +56

I miss the masters of old. Full range, no customers and cheaper prices. Now the stores are full of people, limited range and more expensive.

Australian consumers never cease to amaze.

        • +3

          @skimmermilk:

Couldn't have said it better. I found it funny that Box Hill the other day to see people at awe of the lighting at 30% off. Throughout this year it's been 40% with click and collect available and a decent returns policy.

It's so ironic even in the tools too. Shame to see it go

        • +1

          @skimmermilk:
I wonder how many people were there scoping out prices but not actually buying anything. I visit my masters around three times a week on the way home from work and see the same customers! Must be a fellow ozbargainer

        • +1

Their items are overpriced, their closing down sales is a scam, only dumb people will fall for that joke.

      • +2

Yeah I don't understand ppl who was loading up on the power tools at 10% off. You could get that everyday practically before

    • +1

Haha everyone flocked and sucked them all up at 10% off. All good accessories are gone too. Im hearing some places have Nat gas 2000s and 3100s but either way 1000s 2000s and 3100s are crap. You want the 1200 2200 and 3200.

Yes, i work as an authorised weber dealer.

      • Why is the 3100 Ng crap? I was a bit interested but when I ran a search on ozb its been much cheaper during eBay sales. I'll stick to my everdure neo esee 5 burner for now, I do like open hood cooking.

        • +3

The 1000, 2000, 3100 is what weber uses for freebies flybys etc uses it too.

3100 has the pietzo ignition is hard to get started after a while.

The 3200(premium dealer only model) has battery ignition similar to a gas stove - 100x easier to light. The height of the lid is taller - excellent for fitting a chicken under the hood and larger cuts for roasting.
The 3200 also has a temp gauge, an accurate temp probe would be like a maverick et-733 or et-735. Around $110 - $155. The thermometer pays for itself and isnt available on the modela at Myer, Good Guys, Masters etc.

How can you roast without knowing the temp under the hood?

The 1200, 2200, 3200 will also be available in red as of October 1st, low lid models will not get these colours. These are strictly limited edition!!!

        • +1

@neofelis: Special models (2200 or 3200) are not on sale. Weber Q are on special with 20% discount frequently. That makes big amount and not everyone roasts the BIG chicken or turkey to have high lid. Also you can get other wireless thermometers for temperature.

Pietzo Ignition on standard ones work fine. I have used different models and they all are amazing. So your statement of them being crap is inaccurate.

    • +1

I was waiting as well and was almost shocked to see all sold out online ( not sure physically in stores) with 10% or a little more discount.
Myer had 20% off on weber last week. Before that it was BCF with 20% off. So not sure what these guys were thinking. They had better sales before closing down. Looks like the people responsible for closing down dont get it. Same thing happened with Dick Smith closing. Looks like it is the same team.

      • Well it couldn't be the same team because Woolies didn't close Dick Smith, but the sales do look similar to when Woolies was offloading Dick Smith to Anchorage.

        • Yea, but discounts are horrendous. They are releasing them so slow. They had much better 40-50% discounts few months ago. Closing down should be much better. Sorry to say that I purchased many items from Bunnings, Good guys, Myer, etc. and prices there were cheaper. Sad how few people are sucked in to buy more when it is written big outside closing down sale.

  • This is more than it was Mon/Tues.

Friday 30th Sept is a public holiday in Vic for the AFL grand final…

    • Not everyone in Australia follows the Queen's true birthday of a Monday in late September haha.

      • +2

Yep for some reason, here in WA we just had one. You know because reasons :/

    • Masters Day

  • +3

They already started this up to 50% from this Monday.

    • +2

Yeah 'up to'. Hawthorn East Masters was generally 10% off for most things, a couple of lines were 20% off, but all of it was still more expensive than Bunnings. At least they actually had some customers in there getting ripped off.

      • +1

Yeah I was blown away when I went, place was packed as shit, car park almost full, complete (profanity) chaos. Had my hopes set high because of this but nope only 10% off most things.

Managed to snag 50% off a lot of fasteners though.

  • +2

bbq have increased to 20% off from 15% on monday at my local (heatherbrae)however in saying that you got an additional 10% = math..on mon/tues so overall the flat 20% is worse off

    • +2

Yep, an example of treating people like idiots.

  • +1

Seems like you can't look up prices on the website anymore. The end is coming.

    • Yes, that changed sometime today.

    • +4

I thought the coming was the end?

  • Planning to get outdoor tiles, hoping they come down abit!

  • +1

When does it start? Saturday or Friday?

  • Timber is also 25%

Just bought Merbau decking at 3.73/mtr

    • I need some screening, do that have that too? I haven't even investigated what is cheap

      • Yes they do
        Running out fast

Saw a tradie scoring 1400m of decking

        • Do they have floor boards for the house? Not that flows sting stuff but the real stuff? Could you use a high quality decking for that?

        • @Jackson: didn't see many left.

Decking can be used inside as well

        • @curryblender:

Decking can be used inside as well

Only if you're an idiot, you need tongue and groove boards.

  • Need to find a cached Google version of the site to compare prices

    • always asked for postcode b4 giving prices so cached copy might b hard to find.

some stores have virtually nothing of 1 item while another has 30 so its worth ringing around

      • +3

Can't ring around anymore, all phone numbers just have a recorded message saying go into a store.

        • +1

And remember to purchase some orange drink. For the long drive home.

        • +1

go to one store and ask them to call and find out if they have stock.

Did that today and bought 300m of decking

        • +1

@curryblender: They wont call as all lines are cut. Best they can do is look up stock level.

        • @Frozensage: they did for me at the williamslanding Masters, checked the stock and sent me to burnside

  • +2

    MEGALO MEGALO MEGALO GRAND SALE

    • +1

MEGALO MEGALO MEGALO XEPOULIMA, if I remember correctly.

  • They removed the item search on the site!

    • +3

that went on sale 50% off too..lol

    • Was very inaccurate anyway.

Are the power tools only 20% off rrp?

      • You actually got more discount on Monday and Tuesday's. All power tools were already 15% and the 10% extra meant you get 23.5% off in the end. Of course I don't expect most idiots who just rock up to be aware of this on the weekend

  • Master stores are usually disorganised. I have been to a few stores recently, one store have an item for 20% off while another store has the same item for 30% off but they won't price match. Ridiculous!

    • I think some of the category discounts are done by store. Each one has GA reps that work there and I think they may change depending on what level of stock is left

  • +3

Had a look around no big savings not like a year ago i got a tpe self propelled honda motor on clearance for $574 And a 22 inch rover self propelled for $375 also on clearance.

  • No real bargains until just before they close down.

  • +6

gates were 50% off the last week b4 the closing down sale started… now its only 30% off and flying off the shelf

    • So called specialists have taken on the closing and declaring strange prices and discounts.

      • And the stuff is selling now for more than it was so you cant really blame them.

        • True. It is same like the few ebay listings where the bidding prices or buy it now are higher compared to most of the stores.
Few people just make the perception that it is cheaper without checking.

  • +2

I would be lucky for the so called "discounts" to cover my petrol bill just to get my ass down there & back.

  • Need some decking oil so might be worth the trip.

  • Aldi have an Aldi Q on sale Saturday. Looks kinda similar?

  • Can I still buy product from the Masters website? Although the website will remain active, online purchases are no longer available.

Cant even see any products now online !!!!

  • Any one has a screenshot of the email please?
    for CC price protection.

  • +2

Masters are really starting to annoy me,, like many others I hoped they would be a viable alternative to the ugly green sheds, where they play a variant of "hide from the customer".
Simply pure management and hopeless range choice. The staff are generally great at Masters, I would always go there first hoping to buy what I needed there. Invariably forced to go to Bunnings,, for price and range,, NOT the service.
There specials and clearance prices should be reported to the ACCC, as many others have noticed thieir prices are same/more than 3months ago.

    • There specials and clearance prices should be reported to the ACCC, as many others have noticed thieir prices are same/more than 3months ago.

The ACCC really don't care that prices aren't as good as they use to be - that's not their job.

    • +2

Blame Messrs Luscombe and O'Brien. The whole Masters idea, strategy and execution was their idea.

How you can stuff up a big box hardware retailer during the biggest property boom in history is beyond me.

      • +2

How can you stuff up a supermarket chain with a virtual monopoly when people have to eat?

Raise prices so high that retailers from around the world go ' I can undercut, move in, take market share, expand ' as long as the greedy bastards keep their prices high.

        • When celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver is paid in millions for his appearances in WW ads. No wonder they would be losing money.

  • Any leathermans?

  • -1

LOL yet another pointless discussion on OZB. Noone's entitled to anything. As ozb'ers you know a bargain when you see one. Just wait for the REAL sales towards the end and hope to grab a few items. Other than that let the uneducated purchase whatever they like at whatever price a business wants to charge.

    • Mate we're all just excited to have another carcass to pick over

Remember dick smith last Christmas, oh the fond memories, it was raining eneloops

By the last month there were just ribs sticking up out of the grass
      The odd shell shocked employee
negotiating a price on the fixtures

  • +2

I had high hopes for Masters, the buildings were I'm my opinion better than Bunnings, they biggest problem they had was the items they stocked and prices were completely misjudged, which I think could have been fixed, bizarrely they were very light on actual hardware, the type of hardware a tradesman buys, like dressed timber, plumbing parts etc, they didn't try to clone Bunnings and do it better, they tried to create a hybrid of lots of shops that appealed to few. What's more strange was when they had invested all that money, they just threw hands in air and said we have no idea how to fix it and we're closing, which makes you wonder about the other divisions of the company.
The appliance section the carpet/flooring, the kitchens, the artwork/craft section, the tiles, the garden furniture, the high spec electrical switches. All nonsense, could have put real hardware and attract tradesmen on weekdays, sell more volume decrease margins, get more DIYers on weekends.

    • They should have a handful of successfull pilot stores before expanding. It is a case of expanding too quick.

  • Trade electrical is now40% off if that's what you're in to. Just picked up the Fluke 114 multimeter for $144 (or there about) so if you can find that in stores it is a decent price. None in Dandenong (VIC), and i just got the last one from Knoxfield, as everything at masters it may be tricky to find stock.

  • Is it worth going ? or pretty much the same selective very average (hard to call) bargains its been so far ? Already been twice, with the latest visit 2 weeks ago.. didnt really find anything appealing.

    • +2

      Just be patient
This sale hasn't even started yet

      • Thought so. To date only purchased a tin of paint which is hard to get brand/type and normal price was already good. I'll keep on waiting.
