    • Sorry wrong link, fixed now thanks.

  • no red colour for plantronic?

    • It doesn't seem so.

I'm still waiting for my 64 USB flash drive from the last pc byte
Deal from the 19 September no delivery as yet and I only live 25 mins from their location

    • +1

I've tried buying a 16GB RAM from PC.Byte but they never send it after a month of waiting. And when I called them, they said "oh we ran out of stock". So I just took my money back and probably won't buy from them ever again.

    • +1

I received my order within a few days during the previous sale.

  • Nice one - a bit of future proofing my storage for the nexus :-)

  • +1

I just placed order for 64GB OTG and the Plantronics earphone…

I have the same 64GB OTG from before, it seems to get hot quickly but works fine…

  • Can anyone recommend any other options for good high speed usb 3.0 OTG flash drives that don't overheat?

Quick google search brought up some concerning reports of SanDisk USB 3.0 flash drives overheating to the point of frying a USB 3.0 port on some laptops. People also report burning their fingers when taking them out, with SanDisk advising some users to wait 30 seconds after shutdown before removing them carefully.

Good point brought up here but I've only found reports of overheating regarding the Ultra Fit model, nothing on this Ultra Dual OTG though.

Looking at the design of the Ultra Fit I suppose that might be the reason for the overheating, compared to the more "conservative" design of the Ultra Dual.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-64GB-OTG-Micro-USB-3-0-Fl…

These are pretty solid, no moving parts so they aren't going to fall apart compared to the sandisk one. This was my main concern because i planned on throwing it onto my keychain. If you look on amazon, there's a fair amount of people who have had their sandisk otg fall apart. I definitely haven't had any issues with the samsung overheating, so it's a good recommendation from me.

My only issue (and i'm guessing this probably applies to this too), is that if you are using a case on your phone it's very likely that the case will obstruct the usb.

      • I suppose as long as the microUSB port is long enough? I can't really tell from the photos haha

        • The microUSB seems to be a pretty standard length, but it's the girth of the USB itself that's getting in the way of the case and preventing the microUSB from docking =P

        • @Hunga:

The microusb connection on the sandisk is actually ridiculously long, I didn't expect it to work with my case, but it connected with no issues.

Cheers Hunga, $8 more for a drive that lasts and doesn't overheat sounds good to me!

Mine didn't overhead but the plastic housing did fall to pieces within a few weeks of usage (Hanging from my keychain) not to mention the design allows the metal bit to detach! So I almost lost it a few times. It still works but now a ghetto drive wrapped in tape with no plastic housing.

      • +3

Happened to mine as well, plastic housing fell to pieces within weeks. Still works but can't attach it to anything.

Don't buy if you plan to keep it on a key chain…

  • Interestingly, the description page for the Ultra Dual OTG has no mention of warranty at all, compared to the description page of the same thing by Wireless 1, although at a slightly higher price: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/282126994832

Also, on SanDisk's website for the Ultra Dual on where to buy in Australia, I found Wireless 1 on the list but not PC Byte: https://www.sandisk.com/home/mobile-device-storage/ultra-dua…

And seeing from a few comments here about previous customers of PC Byte not receiving their goods, I say be wary.

    • Its funny because the wireless1 page still says $25 in the description.
Terrible job of hiding their price jacking.

Wouldnt recommend the SanDisk Ultra Dual OTG USB 3.0 Flash Drive. The plastic housing fell apart within weeks of using it. Also the little metal part intended to hang from your keychain detaches! I found it floating in my pocket about 5 or 6 times before the housing fell apart. Get something solid if you want a keychain drive.

    • I've been lucky then. I've been carrying one on my keys for about a year now, and it's still in good condition. I have mine on a separate split ring attached to my house keys and car key with a carabiner.

  • I'm confused and have a really dumb question…."The Flash Drive for your Android based device and computer"

I can use this just like a normal flash drive right i.e. just transfer files from my computer to this 128gb flash drive? It doesn't have to be from an android phone or something like that?

    • +2

It has two heads. One is a regular usb 3.0 for you to plug into your computer, the other is a micro usb for you to plug into your phone.

It's just for the convenience of being able to access files on your usb through your comp or phone

  • basically its a tf card reader

  • On a quick FYI whoever may be interested, works well on my lumia 950. Just bought a generic. Adaptor cable to connect USB to type C.

I transferred files no issues between my nexus tablet and lumia phone. Faster than Bluetooth when transferring videos.

  • Are these same and cheaper? Don't know what "bulk" references to but in case anyone wants cheaper alternative…

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plantronics-BackBeat-Go-2-Wireles…

    • Yeah that seller was discussed here last time, probably not fake as such but overseas stock with overseas charger disguised as Aus stock. Notice that postage time is up to 3 weeks by a local courier which doesn't make sense, up to you if you want to give it a go. You are at least covered by PayPal initially but not sure how warranty would work if any issues long term.

      • Yeah makes sense for their listed price, they have non-aus charger in the picture so it isn't a really disguised but yeah 3 weeks just doesn't make sense for item located in sydney. Either way it's personal choice I guess.

  • Sandisk ultra 128gb is $36 delivered I got one of them instead

    • Went with Samsung's. The design seems much better and performance benchmarks are about the same as SanDisk's.

Edit: However, I only needed 64 GB and got it from futu (link is somewhere in the comment thread above) which was about $27 after discount, close to SanDisk's 64 GB. Looks like the current price for Samsung's 128 GB is just a bit too pricey at about $56, compared to SanDisk's 128 GB. You might as well buy 2 Samsung 64 GB so not to put all your eggs in one basket.

  • Great deal! I paid around double that for my 64GB drive last year. Mine doesn't get used heavily but is always on my keys and is holding up well.

  • Anyone's OTG USB sent yet?
