Is Hong Kong a part of China?

    • +15

It depends on who you ask. lol.
Politically speaking Hong Kong is governed by China.
However geographically speaking, Hong Kong isn't apart of China as it is classified as a "Special Administrative Region" which is why when you look on the map its called "Hong Kong SAR" not "Hong Kong, China"

For HK indepentant supporter, they reckon HK isn't part of China.

Is Tasmania a part of Australia

        • +23

Judging by availability of deals, sometimes I even think Perth isn't part of Australia :P

        • @montorola: Your flights to Bali are always cheaper though…

That's like asking someone is England in the UK

    • From a traveller's point of view, no. It has its own government, legal system, currency and visa requirements.

    • Why vote neg to me! I was just asking!

      • Why reply to yourself! No one is gonna know you replied!

      • Because you ask. :0

  • Wohooo. Thanks Op

Same prices from SYD and BNE as well.

Slightly cheaper with other OTAs of course, seeing $619 for SYD-HKG rt through sta travel.

Roughly 90,000 FF points for anyone wondering
(cheapest I found SYD - HK around April 2017 was $681 return, was 90,200 FF)

  • Got one for $727. Not too bad compare to Cathay Pacific for almost $1000 at the same travel date.

  • is 2200 from syd for 2 adult and 1 child a good price?

Trip booked for Hong Kong return during Term 1 school holiday for $704 return for adults.

  • Well I believe "pick your own seat" cost $30 per person per flight for this Qantas discount fee.

So if you travel in pack and picking your seat is impoartant then CX may offers a better deal.
