  • come on TPG, show us your new plan to beat this AAPT

  • Is 6am to 12pm means 6:00-12:00 or 6:00-24:00?

    • yeah, you are right, 6 am in the morning until 12pm = noon.

  • Speed reduced to 256kbps at all times if you exceed 20GB usage for ADSL2+ and 10GB usage for ADSL broadband in peak time.

errr. so if you use your peak up, then your off peak unlimited also gets shaped?

  • $69.95 set up cost, 12 months subscription, and the craziest thing: Speed reduced to 256kbps at all times if you exceed 20GB usage for ADSL2+ and 10GB usage for ADSL broadband in peak time.
In other words: it's only 20 Gb pick time and it will be unlimited off pick ONLY if you don't exceed 20Gb during pick time. Otherwise it will be shaped to a very slow speed. And the off pick is only 6 hours a day from 6 am to 12pm!
    So, it's really quite deceiving…
This offer certainly doesn't come even close to TPG!
Doesn't look like a bargain to me at all.

    • -1

I agree, not a bargain. And for ADSL customers, you only get 10GB/month to use from 12pm-6am, before it gets shaped. That's on average 333mb/day within 12pm-6am(which myself and probably alot of other people use most of their bandwidth)

      • show me similar price that offer unlimited where u can download unlimited then you can said this is not a bargain. otherwise your comment is bias.

      • read carefully on the subject of the post, did i promote ADSL? or ADSL2+? i do not endorse / promote aapt adsl, so your negative vote is not valid.

      • Am i allowed to compare it with TPG $39.99 deal or exetel $40 deal, or is it you who decides how much the difference can be?

Comparing it with buying a house for 150k more than you can afford is a bit different don’t you think. I believe some people can spare a few dollars more for much better value.

No other company has the all the EXACT same off-peak and on peak time frame, shaping speeds, and price that AAPT does. That doesn’t make that AAPT the best deal ever.

Couple other people put negs, but didn’t explain y, but they knew it wasn’t a bargain, they just couldn’t be bothered to explain. Only had 3 positives at the time. Why you may ask? Because everyone knows there are better deals out there.

        to answer ur question
exetel got two types of $40 plan
        1. with line rental bundle - peak 60gb, off peak unlimited
        2. without line rental - peak 10 gb, off peak unlimited

their line rental is $30/month, therefore minimum cost would be $70/month
if their first plan said without line rental, i have to agree with you that this exetel product has superior value of money than aapt products.

second about a few dollar. $5 different, a year would be $60 , 2 years would be $120. if this is once off $5, i can say yes this is value of money, but if on going cost. it is not about the value of $5 anymore. it will be the value of $5 * ~

some people who live under pension support, a few dollar can be have food or not food on their table. same with family that has monthly budget.

        • out of curiosity is $3 too much?

          • @ozhunter: remember as i said earlier, if the different is one off, it won't much, but if this on going fee, as i said before, some people wouldn't do it. budget is budget.
            like i said 1+1=2.

currently, i am working with a big company, in the past we got nice cookies in the office, in the last 6 months, my big boss has order my reception to change this nice cookies to be home brand/ coles brand only. i am sure $1-2 different only than the old brand. but the point is, some people got a budget. and recently my boss looking for something else where my boss can cut the office cost such as recycle the paper.

    • lets we do comparison with similar product from TPG

      Super Fast Basic /40GB
      $39.99
      40GB1 (20GB+20GB)
      256K/256K

with this current TPG $40 plan, every month i only able to download 60gb only.

if tpg, offer me similar product (this aapt $40 plan ), i believe i can download more than 60gb monthly.
you need to be aware, people that choose this plan should be aware about the peak and off peak allowance. if you need unlimited anytime, you shouldn't choose this plan.

tpg also capped the speed on their $40 plan, speed cap to 256/256 similar like this aapt $40 plan.

connection fee, aapt got $70 connection fee and tpg got $60 connection fee for 12 months contract. with $10 different you got unlimited off peak download with adsl2+ speed.

based on my past download history with tpg, during 6 hrs off peak, every hour normally i can download around 1 gb-2gb,
so if i switch from tpg to aapt, for 1 day i estimate that i can around 6 gb / day, within a month i can download around 180 gb. so this 180 gb off peak + 20 gb peak = 200 gb download.

comparing with my current $40 plan with tpg, i only able to download around 60 gb total in a month for peak and off peak.

now, can you show me your calculation, how this is not a bargain? as you said "This offer certainly doesn’t come even close to TPG!"

      don't comparing apple and orange.

  • Fail to see this as a bargain.

    • show me similar price that offer unlimited where u can download unlimited then you can said this is not a bargain. otherwise your comment is bias.

        generic comment much?

I think its good. If you were careful with your downloads and good at scheduling them appropriately you could extract a lot of value out of this plan. My partner is paying about 40/month for 12GB peak/12GB offpeak with adam, and this one is offering 20GB peak and unlimited offpeak for about the same price.

Leave a laptop running usenet each day during the off peak hours and you are laughing.

    • agree mate, those people that said this is not bargain, they don't do research in the first place, they should show me where you can get unlimited off peak for $40? thats why on my first post said come on tpg beat this appt plan.

  • This exact "bargain" is flogged on radio all the time, so I hardly see how it is a "bargain". It's just their standard product, which they are trying to promote to be really good value, when it's just average value.

    • it is bargain compare than similar price on the market. can you tell me which other isp that offer $40 that has off peak unlimited with adsl2+ speed?

sorry, i don't listen radio very frequent. i only listen radio during weekend only, when going out driving my car. in the office, i can not play radio, can use earphone. so, i never heard about this aapt promotion before, i never seen this ads in the tv or in the newspaper as well.

  • My understanding of a bargain is good value for money. The better the value for money the better the bargain is.
If one presents cheap or not too expensive low quality product - it doesn't necessarily constitute a bargain.
I would rather pay a bit more but get a quality product.

On this note: so called unlimited downloads on this AAPT plan are not unlimited.

You have only 18 Mb (ADSL)or 36 Mb (ADSL2+) per hour to use during 18 hours (from 12 noon to 6 am) each day of the month in order to qualify for so called unlimited downloads during just 6 hours a day from 6am to 12noon.

What does look more like a bargain?

TPG Super Fast plans. For only $10 more ($49.99) you can get:
    1. 130 GB (70+60) which is shaped to 1Mbps/1Mbps
    2. 180 GB(90GB+90GB) which is shaped to 1Mbps/1Mbps - uploads counted

Please also note that you get to use 70 GB or 90 GB of download from 8am to 2am, which is the time frame when you really need it either for business or pleasure.
On the other hand AAPT gives you only 10 or 20 GB to use (which is only 18 or 36 MB per hour) during the time when you mostly need downloads.

    Definitely not a bargain!

Not sure you can write it off so quickly. For example I'm a web developer on the net all day and with my business dependent on VoIP. Even so I rarely use more than 5GB per month. For me the issue would therefore be reliability quality of service and speed of access for my approx 5Gb. So if this is best offer for that data range then yes it might be a bargain. Personally, the quality of support is a key element for me, so if I only used my own personal criteria I would be doing same as you and saying TPG is "Definitely not a bargain".

I'm not criticising. Simply stating that we need to evaluate things more objectively - not just based on our own subjective criteria. I don't know whether this is a real bargain or not - I haven't researched the market in this $40 price range to see if someone offers something better. But I don't think that saying that someone else offers a different product at a more expensive price is basis for disqualifying this product from being a bargain within its price-range.

If my t-shirt size is medium and I like blue ones, then I'm not sure you're helping me by telling me to buy the 6XL sized pink one for only $2 more because it is a much better deal.

    • -1

as my prediction, bob - you just comparing something different. it is very obvious you just comparing orange and apple. find me $40 plan that offer unlimited adsl2+ off peak download. can't find? yes your negative vote is not valid. end of story.

i give you an example, a family - husband & wife and 5 kids, they went to car dealer that only selling 5 seats car. surely for this family they need a car that has 7 seats, as per they family needs.
if this family complaining that this 5 seats car is not enough for their family needs, they shouldn't come to this car dealer in the first place, he is coming to the wrong place, he need to find a car dealer that selling 7 seat cars then he can comment about that 7 seats car. comparing 5 seats car and 7 seats car, same as you just comparing apple and orange.

      • "yes your negative vote is not valid. end of story." - Haha, sorry but that's just so typical of a child to use it.
Also, why would use the analogy of an apple and an orange?
Use correct terms like different valued services, different tiers.
Get your mum to buy you a dictionary =D it might help with the vocabulary!
Nice grammar, how old are you kiddy?

        EDIT:
        Reason to neg:
        1.Setup fee for such a low-priced plan, that’s 1.75 x of the monthly payments!
2.“A generous 20GB download limit at other times” (12pm - 6am), there is a realistic 1.5 hours of usage time, if you’re in high school or you have a job? In other words, only mothers (they know jack about technology, and borrowing things off the internet) and little kids will benefit a little out of this plan. It’s not a bargain unless you’re a kid or a mother.

        • -1

how old am i? is there any problem how old i am? why?
do i need to buy a dictionary? hmm so far you can response this post, thats mean i don't need waste my money for buying dictionary.

hi bully boy, i guess you must be a bully person when u were at school before. hahaha
are u proud what as a bully person? hahah u just a jerk / a looser. thats why you want to show to other people that you are superior than other people
the fact is you are a looser.

give me $40 plan with 12 months contract that has identical or better features than this aapt plan with setup fee less than aapt. if you can't find. your vote is not valid. end of story.
no action just talk only. talk louder like the empty can, inside nothing. that is your brain.

you just make generalization that your situation is apply to other people. if i start work 8 am in the morning. i am not sitting in front of my computer between 6-8 am in the morning. wake up 6 am, shower, eat breakfast then go to work / school or somewhere else. except you got day off.
think before you type, that is typical kid at school that pretend he/she is the smartest and invisible kid in the world. hahaha
you just a joker kid. a looser.

          • @dragonrabit: lol that was funny to read.

"give me $40 plan with 12 months contract that has identical or better features" I don't think there is a plan identical to this one. Doesn't mean this is a good deal.
