  Picked up a TP-Link Archer C7 last night from Futu for only $124.
  It's perfect for those that don't need the additional features but still want a solid performer.

  2.4GHz 802.11N performance isn't as good as the AC68U, but it's more than adequate for a standard household that isn't doing network transfers or media streaming.

  Can someone recommend me a solid wifi router? I don't need super speeds, I just want something that has good signal. I know the ASUS is great but overkill for my purposes.

    I'm a computer tech. Honestly I've tried quite a few brands and models, the most recent a pretty decent Netgear and a very expensive and insect like DLink. Then I got the Asus router above and it is miles better - very strong and far reaching wifi. Great configuration settings. Ok so you could buy something around $100 but it'll be limited in either features, strength or both. For the sake of another $100 the Asus fixes so many troubles with wifi.

      Realised I only really need an AP (not router) so ended up buying the Ubiquiti AP. Less than $90 and miles ahead of anything consumer grade.

  Bought a DSL-AC68U from Futu during a recent 20% off ebay sale. Happy with it's performance so far and no longer need an extender upstairs for wifi coverage.
