there are more cheapers options, like the provider xL they do 19gb for rp80.000(equals to $9 aud)

    • sure. So $9 plus $4-$5 for sim card. that's 19gb for $15. No call credit to fall back on. Plus the hassle of getting a sim card. if you use more than 10 gb in your holiday, you probably do not enjoy it that much haha

      • $4 for sim? thats stupid. sims are only 50cents max. you get free sims if you go to the xl service centre in bali

  • anybody used this?

  • I always use Simpati in Bali. Great coverage and they always give free data and more and more free txt

    • Is this a good price though? I remember being in Bali 5 years ago and only paid about $12 or so..

      • it is a good price. Remember it comes with Rp 50.000 credit ( $5) . Also sim card will cost around $4-$5 if you buy it from the kiosk and the likes. Basically with this deal you're paying around $5 for 12gb.

        • Cool. Shall grab it then, if nothing but for the convenience of having it.

Is the 12Gb data on the 4G network? And is there a timing separation on the data eg x Gb midnight and the rest otherwise?
Looking to get one since Simpati is always the operator to go if reliable connection is what you are after

I'm leaving tomorrow guess that's to late to get a sim. I was just going to buy one over there from one of the stores anyway.

you will probably save $1 if any. Not worth the hassle.

I just pay those people with the glass cabinet standing out from of the K-Stores. They set it up and I given them $100k credit to put on (approx. AUD$10)

which will cost you around $15 all up. Sim card is not free in Indonesia. It will cost around $5

      • if you bought a sim card for $5 you just got scammed big time. theyre only worth 5k rupiah/50 cents max.. even on the airport they sell it for that price.

        • in bali maybe. the rest of the country will charge you $4-$5 in most cities

  • Yes, cheaper to buy the simcard in Indonesia. However, this may suit you if you need it prior to arrival

  • wow this is phenmonerally cheap

ive been to bali a fair few times and those glass stalls try to charge 80-100k for the smallest, 1-2gb if I recall (im a fairly good negotiator)
    and 100-200k for 2-4gb

we hired a driver and asked them to take us to a cheap local sim card shop, and on the way to the countryside we stopped at a small store with prices set, and we paid 70k odd

so 150k odd for 12gb is fantastic value

that is because you do it incorrectly. you should go to the kiosk and buy the sim card for $5 and then ask them to put $10 credit. Then use the credit to buy the data, which is priced differently depending on the provider or the promo period. Generally you can get 1 gb for $1 give or take.

      • well if I recall, all of the sim cards dont have any english written on them, even the main brands

blank sim for $5 seems expensive when considering local cost of living,

  • Bought a couple for me and the missus for our upcoming trip. Price seemed fine and even if I could get it for $5 cheaper why bother? This thing is ready to go as soon as we touchdown.

  • With the Thai sim, what does the speed drop down to after the first 1.5GB?

    • +1

it says 64kbps which is pretty slow

generally, its 195 on special up to 300baht so $13 for 1.5gb give or take
you can buy it at the airport kiosks

      this is what Ido

  • Certainly better than the last deal posted last month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/271020. Wondering if I wait another month will it be cheaper still?

  • Is it easy to activate it in Bali ? Assuming we need to supply id etc during registration for activation ?

    • read the post again

  • Ok, to get it right, we can put the sim into our phone once we arrive at Bali. Then if we travel to other Indonesian city afterwards, we can make phone call to anywhere domestically and internationally for up to Rp. 50K ?

  • when does this deal end OP? thx

  • Roughly how many minutes of calls does 50k get you?
