Spotted this deal on a Facebook ad - basically open up an Access Advantage transaction account with ANZ and make three Visa debit purchases (in stores, online or over the phone, excludes reversals and ATM withdrawals) on the card that is linked to your ANZ Access Advantage account before 8 January 2017.

You'll then get a code to redeem a $100 Myer, Woolworths, JB Hi-Fi, David Jones, Woolworths Caltex, Coles, Flight Centre, Spa.com.au or Kmart gift card.

The account attracts a $5 monthly fee, but is waived if you deposit at least $2,000 per month into the account or meet other criteria (see below).

This offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers, who do not have an ANZ Access Advantage account as at 13 November 2016.


*No monthly account service fee on your new account if you deposit at least $2,000 a month. Otherwise, it's a $5 fee per month.

You can also apply to waive the monthly account service fee on one nominated ANZ Access Advantage account if you:

  • Are under 25 or aged 60 or over
  • Are a full-time student at an Australian educational institution
  • Receive a disability support pension or mobility allowance from Centrelink
  • Have an ANZ Home Loan, an ANZ Residential Investment Loan or an ANZ Portfolio Facility and have your salary paid into your account
  • Have a combined deposit balance of $50,000 in one or more of the following ANZ accounts: ANZ Access Advantage, Access Select, Premium Cash Management, Online Saver, Progress Saver, ANZ term deposits, V2 Plus, Passbook Savings, Premier Cheque.

Offer Terms:

  • The offer is limited to one unique Reward Code per customer that can be redeemed for a Digital Reward valued at $100. Joint accounts count as one customer and are only eligible for a single unique Reward Code; and

  • Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, an unique Reward Code will be emailed to an email address registered to the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 8 February 2017; and

  • ANZ can withdraw this offer at any time between 14 November and 18 December 2016.

    Anyone made 3 purchases and not received code yet?

    • I made 3 purchases on the weekend and I have not received my code. I suppose the transactions may not have settled yet since they were credit….

    • Completed 3 purchases on 19/12/16. Still no code yet.

      • Made 3 purchases on 7/12 using EFTPOS, then 3 on 22/12 using Paypass. Still no code. Thinking codes are sent out in batches and we'll receive it in the next round.

    Coles gift card seems to have been fixed. No longer receiving the error message when opening the email.

      • Yep but for those who now have their gift card and not intending on keeping the account I would recommend cancelling it ASAP.

    after my short use of anz, the separation of recent transactions from normal transactions in the internet banking really irks me. i have never encountered this before with other banks.

    and another thing, if i deposit money at a smart atm over the weekend it is only credited on monday. if i do the same using a suncorp atm, it appears in my account instantly

  • Hi guys, just wondering how long did it take you to get the voucher? I spent 0.20 for 3 times at woolies using self-checkout (yea yea i know…but still, i hope those count.) on the 19th. still waiting. haha

  • I don't recall when I opened the account but it was before the due date. I've spent 3 times but the last two transactions are still pending.

    When I went into the branch to show my ID, put the account on internet banking and to get a card, the bank manager did not know about this deal, and he changed the BSB from somewhere in NSW to my local one which seemed like a good idea at the time. Now I'm wondering if they'll use this as an excuse to avoid giving me the voucher…

  • Mine also says Access Cheque account. Did 3 purchase 10 days ago and still no voucher. How soon did people receive their voucher after the 3rd purchase. Btw, I used paypass in all 3 transactions.

    Despite applying through the promo web site and multiple phone calls to ANZ, I still haven't received my card. It is hard to imagine why a bank would advertise a debit card account, only to advise customers repeatedly that a debit card is not a standard feature of the account and that I should have applied for it separately. This is despite nominating a card type when applying for the account and spending nearly 40 minutes with a private banker doing ID verification (with the same ID that other banks have accepted). The reason the appointment took so long was that the banker tried to sell me every other conceivable financial service.
    Are others still waiting on their cards? Have others had the same experience of being told it must be in the mail one day, only to be advised a few days later that there is no record of the card ever having been ordered and putting a new order in, only to be told that there is no record of any previous card orders a few days later again?

    • My card arrived in the mail after applying online but couldn't use it unless I went to a branch for that 40min chat and activation.

    • Still waiting on my card. Had to go into a branch to verify my ID because their website is broken and ringing them is useless. Promo spend period ended yesterday.

      Going to call today to see if i can get any satisfaction regarding being sent a card and still be eligible for this promo. Think that call is going to end with me closing the account.

      Oddly enough I applied for a credit card at ANZ at the end of December and got the card within 7 days.

    No voucher here either.
    Spent 3 transactions on 8 Dec 2016 totaling $5. Now been hit with $5 account keeping fee.

    I'll give it another month and then cancel before being hit with another a/c keeping fee.

    Rubbish bank.

    If i don't get a resolution I'll Lodge a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service and report back.

  • My transactions finally cleared last Friday 06.01.17. Any one in the same boat as me? Is the voucher a system email, as in it comes automatically, or is there a waiting period guys?

      If you look back at the comments from last month, there were lots of reports that vouchers were received on the 19th (18th was the last day you could sign up for this offer), so it'll most likely be sent in a batch rather than individually.

    I think I cut it even finer than most of you here
    Made three transactions at 11:50pm on 8 January in a Coles self-checkout (Zafarelli Spaghetti for half price, $0.97)
    3 x $0.01 (the rest with Coles Myer Gift Card purchased from Myer/First Choice Liquor AMEX promo lol)

    • T&Cs say before 8 Jan. Wonder if that includes the day itself.

    • I made three transactions on Saturday, 7 January. However once the transactions were cleared it now lists them as Monday, 9 January being the next business day.

    There must be another batch going out because people had until Jan 8th to make their spend. I haven't received mine yet, but I complied with all the conditions.

  • Just a heads up if it hasn't been mentioned before. If you close your account in branch they try to charge you a pro rata monthly fee taken from your closing balance. For instance, the monthly fee is $5, so if you close the account mid month they charge you $2.50 if you haven't met the eligibility to have the monthly fee waived. Just make sure you have no funds in the account at time of closure.

    I would recommend transferring 2000 to prevent any fees prior to closing the account.

    I just spoke with ANZ customer service as I haven't received my voucher yet. They said all vouchers will be sent out by 8 Feb at the latest.

      Yea. It's called cheque account. as far as I'm aware, everyone has that as the product name on the internet banking. As long as you opened your account through the link, you should be fine.

    Ahh shit I was cutting it close and made my last transaction with payWave on the 6th but when I looked on internet banking the transaction went though as the 9th. Shiii what are the chances they will honour this?

    For every day that they delay sending them out, the outrage is going to be proportionately higher if they eventually don't send them out by the 8th.
