          @cwongtech: My mate won a Resistance Fury 1080 laptop in a competition recently. I bought it off him for 2.5k. Has a 1080 and states it is future upgradable for sli.

          Sorry for the comment above mate. I thought you were having a bit of a bait but turns out you have a serious bit of gear there and using it in a case where it's one of the only examples where an additional 1080 to SLI in a laptop is actually something to look in to.

          Upgrading MXM solutions are expensive compared to desktop cards ($1500 sounds about right for a 1080 MXM as it's the top of the niche) and not easy to install. A lot of laptops even though they have MXM cards and/or SLI ready can have different mounting, PCI pin configurations, proprietary dimensions and custom cooling solutions between manufactures.

          I'm trying to find out the relevant information on that specific laptop but a few minutes on Google isn't turning up anything.

          I'd be interested to know when you do find out though. That's a beast of a machine.

It is difficult finding good information on it, I think I found the equivelent clevo model which had the same specs all around which may be the answer. Maybe the price will drop if a 1080ti mxm card is announced. Understandable with thinking its bait, the retail on these things are ridiculous, but for half that priceand 2 years warranty I was willing to bite.

          @ruddiger7: How good is the heat solution on this laptop? I know it says it supports two-way SLI - but if its ability to remove heat from the system isn't pretty amazing, you might find that thermal throttling diminishes your returns even more quickly than a regular SLI setup.

      I too ponder the very same question. But in the end you can only wait so long before a deal comes up (like this one) where you're just like "screw it, now's as good a time as any". Think in terms of how much value you can get out of the card. I've had my 970 since late 2014 and if I get this now (or another 1080 in the near future) I'll have gotten 2 years of value + $200-250 (the current going rate for 970s) which would make the cost of this for me just over $500 (I paid a little less than that for the 970). Truly great value for the performance you get.

      The only other reason I'm holding back is because my current card can still handle most of the games I play and I'm slowly transitioning to consoles due to many of my friends being on Xbox and some pretty good deals on console games (the Target one on Friday for example). Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a recently released game that brings many GPUs to their knees on Ultra (the 1080 barely manages 60fps at 1080p) so I've have to fork out the money for this card + the game (or lower the settings? Blasphemy!) or just grab the PS4 copy for $35. Truly first world problems.

        Im in the same boat mate, paid $550 for my Asus GTX970. Prob only get $240 for it now. Never been a fan of gigabyte and evga 1080s have heat issues. Only leaves Asus and MSI
