Both these offers showed up on my DJs American Express :)

Just before the gift card crew asks, no can't get gift cards as it redirects you to Everyday Gift Cards instead.

  • +20

Doesn't appear in the exclusions, so could you get the Bridgestone buy 3 get 1 free on this deal?

    http://www.bobjane.com.au/tyres/bridgestone/potenza-adrenali…

    • +7

If so that's a pretty nice saving on a set of new tyres

    • +1

Very nice. Unfortunately I already bought 4 new tyres earlier this year. (on buy 3 get 1 free deal) but this would have been the icing on the cake!

    • +5

Woohoo. Buying 5 Hankook Dynapro 265/75/16 (as per catalogue) and buy 3 get 4 deal as well.

      $229 each - so 5 tyres is 4x$229 = $916.

Registered both mine and my wife's card. So I'll pay $450 on one card, and $466 on the other. Total discount = $250.

Total cost of 5 tyres =
      Pay 4 = $916
      less AMEX credit $250 (2x125)
      Total = $666
      Cost per tyre = $133.20 for a $230 tyre!

      • +1

But if you buy through giftvouchers.com, Amex may not track this as a Bob Jane sale?

        • Yep, if u buy from the 3rd party it wont work. So thus oh well!!

        • Ah. Sorry dudes. Maybe you can buy in store.

        • @OldBugger:

in-store only at Bob Jane T-Mart

Perhaps, needs to be an instore purchase anyway to satisfy the terms.

        • @Jad: We need someone to take one for the team and try to buy a Bob Jane gift card 'in-store'!!

        • +1

@Peck: Works! Im gonna try it today! For the points!

        • @Turd: Any update on this Turd? My tyres still have about a year left, would be handy if we can get gift card. Thanks before

        • @hanofee: Was raining yesterday arvo I didnt go. Im not feeling too well today so I dont think I will go. A bit depressed, life issues.

        • @Turd: That's ok, thanks for the update mate, and hope things work out better soon for you :)

        • @hanofee:

Has anyone tried to buy gift card from Bob Jane to get the $125 credit?

        • Hi, were you able to get Amex credit through gift card?

  • -4

    Do either sell vpay?

  • -1

BWS sell ciggys so if you smoke maybe it can give you cheap stuff?

    • Couldn't find a single BWS store in Brisbane that shows any stock online…

    • +22

if you smoke maybe it can give you cheap stuff?

      Cancer?

      • +2

        One of the most expensive.

  • +4

And if you hold a CBA AMEX, Bob Jane is a bonus partner until 3 December (1 bonus point per dollar).

  • +1

Dam, I just got new tyres.

    • +1

      Buy another set?

    • +1

      Roger that, same here :(

    • +1

      • +1

i literally just bought a new set on friday 18th.. DAMMIT!!

    • +1

Same, this would've been a great saving.

Can you return a set of slightly driven on tyres?

  • Does BWS sell telstra pre-paid mobile recharge?

    • In store would but this is online so I doubt it.

  • Just replaced set Tyers from them. Sugar

  • +7

Thanks OP, i can continue to fuel my rampant alcoholism

  • Cool! A couple of bailey gift packs make good Xmas presents

  • +5

For the Bob Jane one, just note a couple of stores are excluded from the promotion, including the main store in Canberra (Fyshwick).

    • +10

To save the hassle for others

Aust Wide it excludes Bundaberg, Fyshwick, Macgregor & Morayfield locations.

      • Thanks, was too hard to copy on my phone.

      • Thanks JB1, was about to book into Macgregor actually lol

    • but Belconnen is fine go figure

      • I know, very odd. I am booked in there for tomorrow.

  • Excludes online purchases. Offer valid at Australian locations only.

  • +1

Dumb question but if I sign up for an AE credit card, would I be eligible for these offers?

    • You can sign up via the manual links if the offers don't appear automatically in your account.

    • Yes you are if you use the manual link.

    • +1

Yep and make sure you use a referral link to get loads of velocity points when signing up and score some for the referer:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/american_express_referrals

      • +3

        EC, is that you?

      • Might be another dumb question, but what's the etiquette for selecting who's referral to use? I just used the last person on the list but I couldn't see a link for a random referral like you get down the bottom of a post sometimes

    • I just got a Essential card last week and went through the referral wiki. Pretty good so far, no annual card fee and have been enrolling in all the offers that appeal to me. Trying to use it for most things now as my Vida card doesn't offer any reward points.

  • Guys I have no clue about tyres, but would the Bridgestone Potenza Re003 be ok for honda civic?

    • +1

I am also getting Re003 - saw few comments/review and they are pretty good.

    • +1

Honestly, all you need is to match the diameter, width and aspect ratios of the new tyre with your old ones. Usually comes in the form of "175/55R15" printed on your tyres, with 175 being diameter, 55 being aspect and R15 being width. Since its a honda civic, you won't really need to worry yourself about load weights and such. Re003 are nice tyres, might be a bit pricey but with these two promotions should be a bargin.

    • +1

RE003 are a "high performance" sport tyre. not really aimed at city run-about cars or drivers. They will have a higher wear rate than your standard bridgestone family car tyre. Having said that they are super grippy tyres so go for it if you want a quality sport tyre.

      • +1

Thanks for your input everyone, much appreciated =)

I know these are overkill for a honda but 4 tyres for 275 is a steal!

        Only issue I have now is, 3 tyres x 129 = $387, which is under 400.

        A few questions:
        - does anyone know if bob jane fix scratches on the rims (I scraped the passenger side rims last week trying to park)
-I hear you have to get the tyres rotated and aligned every 6mths? Is this usually free if you buy the tyres from them or is this something you pay for?

I'm trying to get over 400 so might try one of the above…

        • +2

Add wheel alignment is the most useful. It's usually additional (balance is free) for a promo/entry level product like this (you can always try to negotiate cheaper price, but I doubt they'd throw it free for such set).

        • @hanofee:

Ok so dumb question, if they're going to be changing all 4 tyres, they don't do a wheel alignment then?

I always thought wheel alignment and balance was the same thing.. :/

        • +1

@montorola: They're different. And I believe alignment is necessary when putting new set of tyres (balance is always included for free). Google "wheel balance vs alignment" :). And oh, as far as I can remember, Bob Jane will give free aligment on the first service (for next time), it's part of buying a set with them, where a place like Bridgestone only gives free check/balance.

        • @hanofee:

Thanks for the clarification hanofee! :D

Yes, I shall google now haha

        • +1

They've given us a booklet for various future services, eg free rotation after (i think) 3 month/5,000km.

        • @hanofee:

Whilst a wheel alignment is good, they do not need to be done at every tyre change. Sure, if you want to/can no worries, but unless you hit gutters everywhere you go, the wheels will not be out of alignment.

    • I just put RE003s on my Subaru last week. They're amazing. Highly recommended from reviews and tyre shops. Noticeable difference with grip.

      • I take it you have a WRX?

        • +1

Forester so obviously sell performance but still noticeable

        • @Bargearse:
Ahh cool, did you get a wheel alignment done at the same time?

        • +1

@montorola: I had only done one recently so it wasn't required but usually it's recommended. About another $70 but will improve wear on the tyre. Kmart will price beat so shop around quotes and see if they'll beat them. They do tyre rotation free every 10000km

        • +1

          @Bargearse:

Thanks for your help, will look into getting one done sinec I can't remember the last time I did one :D

  • Shame BWS deal is online only.

    • do they have more/better stuff in store? or did you just wanted to get a woolies gift card?

    • Shop online, collect in-store for free.

      • Ah I didn't know you could do this!

  • +1

Dows Bob Jane sells gc in store ?

  • +1

Does jane bob sell gift cards?

  • Can someone recommend some tyres for a Mazda 3 that is getting on in years, that only goes back and forth from nearby shopping centres with the very occasional longer trip to the coast? Don't care about performance but interested in fuel saving. TIA

    • Just go with the Bridgestone Potenza :)

    • Yokohama BluEarth AE01

    • I'd just get the Potenza's simply because of the combined amex deal and 4-for-price-of-3 deal.

      • Edit: to YOTR

I am getting RE003s for my 2006 SP23, but understand they may be overkill for you.

Try reading through this thread to get some ideas.

I think Ecopia might be more up your alley.

        • What's the tyre size for your SP23? I'd like to get the RE003 but they don't have the size 195/65R15 for my Mazda 3 Neo (2012). So my options are:
          1. Potenza RE003 195/60R15
          2. Potenza RE003 205/55R15
          3. Ecopia EP150 195/65R15

Which one would you recommend, and whether there's a noticeable difference between Ecopia and Potenza? Considering the Potenza size is smaller than the standard ones which could mean more fuel consumption. TIA!

        • @tukanglistrik: 205/50R17

It depends what you are after - I havent had either as yet, but RE003s are a sports tyre (so good grip but shorter life) whereas Ecopia are an economy tyre (long life, less grip).

I would go with something that is the right size first of all - can you try any other Bob Janes or look at other tyres which might be on sale?

  • +5

How did Amex know that I was going to buy a full new set of tyres today? LOL.

    • +1

Was it going to be from Bob Jane?

      • +2

Not necessarily, but after doing a price comparison we ended up going with Bob Jane. Plus it was fairly close to home. Got 4 Bridgestones ("for the price of 3"), and the much-needed (post-bingle) wheel alignment brought the cost to $402. The $125 cashback notification from Amex was in my email inbox by the time I got home. $277 for a complete new set seems ok to me.

P.S. Thanks to you and the other OzBargainers who contributed info to this post. I learnt something!

        • Which set of Bridgestones did you get? $402 is a very good price

  • +1

Thank you OP. registered for both.

    • -1

Hi There, if you live in Sydney and are not going to use the bobjane offer and would like to give away please let me know. thanks

  • +1

Thank you OP. registered for both.
    A couple of points:
    - Chrome didnt work for me. So had to use IE.
    - Looks like it's to spend $60, not $50. Got an email after I spend over that amount so it didnt bother me as much. If I go with my orignal plan to get that $50 whisky I would be caught out. Not sure what happened here and too lazy to re-log-in…..

  • Guys just be aware that they charge 15$ fitting fee for the 4th free tyre (assuming you're getting the buy 3 get 1 free Bridgestone deal)

    • How much you were quoted and what tyres/size?

      • Apologies, disregard what I said, I realised I was looking at jax tyres website and not bob jane!

  • +1

    excellent, thanks

I find bob-j are already extremely competitive for tyres and batteries.

  • Block of VB is $57 at BWS which is obviously a bit of a rip but after $15 back is a very reasonable $42. Nice!

  • +2

    Chivas regal for $40.

    Will also get the potenzas.

    225/45/r17 normally about $185 each.

    $185 * 4 = $740

Buy 3 get one free means

    $185 * 3 = $555

    $125 off

    $555 - $125 = $430

    $740 - $430 = $310 discount

    ($310/$740)*100 = 42% off

    • +1

      Very nice.

Just booked in to get my tyres done.

      $139 for Potenzas x 3 = $417
      + $55 wheel alignment
      $472
      - 125CR
      $347

equates to about $86.75 per tyre, with alignment.

Thanks for your help everyone, and thanks OP for the deal :D

  • A carton of Oettinger 500ml tins is $44. Add something else cheap and that's a whole lot of beer for less than 40 bucks. Thanks American Express!
