We can use this offer only in Squires Loft Subiaco and The Royal On The Waterfront in Perth.

    • I only get Squires, no Royal…

      • Prolly need to change the search to East Perth?

    • How budget is that! :(

  • does dimmi still have half price food at restaurants' deals?

  • +1

I'm guessing you can stack this with Amex shop small?

Daym what a deal. Dimmi are pretty good.

However, they've become less valuable ever since they changed their $50 voucher from requiring 8000 points to 10000 points. Then decreasing the $50 voucher to a $20 voucher.

So now you require 10000 points for a $20 voucher.

For a bit more background, you'll effectively get 2000 points per booking (1000 points for the booking itself, 1000 points for a really short easy review). So 5 bookings to get a $20 voucher ($4/booking).

Qantas Restaurants at 100pts/diner (currently 200pts until end of year) is possibly better.

But this offer swings the momentum back into Dimmi's hands.

Sorry this comment ended up being a lot longer than I expected..

TLDR: Good deal. If it weren't this deal, Qantas Restaurants would arguably better value (and they use the exact same reservation system).

    • $20 would surely be better than 400 qantas points.

IMO, Qantas points would only be worthwhile if you can't meet the $50 spend.

Edit: assuming it's a booking for 2 people. If you're booking for larger groups 6+ people then it may be more worthwhile going through Qantas Restaurants

      • Sorry I didn't mean you'd get 400 Qantas points in the same number of bookings as a $20 Dimmi voucher.

In fact, realistically you'd get a minimum of 1000 Qantas points (with no promotion) for the 5 bookings that you'd need to get a $20 Dimmi voucher. Qantas points are awarded at 100 points* per diner per booking.

*200 points during this promotional period.

        • also the $20 can only be used at a very select few restaurants, most aren't very good. id only eat there with a $50 voucher but not a $20 voucher

        • @chocfrogs456:

victoria has over 90 rewards restaurants, with many of them quite good and almost half accepting amex :)

        • @tonester: are the restaurants accepting amex same as the ones you can use this deal on though/

        • @tonester: Perhaps the only ones eligible for the cashback are the ones with the "Amex Offer" symbol, not the "Amex Welcome" symbol. Maybe someone can confirm this?

    • For a bit more background, you'll effectively get 2000 points per booking (1000 points for the booking itself, 1000 points for a really short easy review). So 5 bookings to get a $20 voucher ($4/booking).

some members have a 2.5x bonus rate on their account, such that 2 bookings+reviews = $20 voucher :)

  • Can you create multiple accounts, sync multiple AmEx, make one booking and then split payment using registered AmEx at the restaurant?

    • I think it would all depend on the point(s) of trigger.

The page where you type in your card details looks identical to all the other manual enrolment forms.

If this is like those, then all you'd require is splitting the payment at a participating restaurant. The form is making me wonder whether you'd even need to book via Dimmi at all.

      • No I guess there must be some sort of link between booking and amex because it says "This offer is limited to the first 25,000 bookings before 31 December 2016."

        • Yes that is the assumption based on wording of the deal and I agree.

But I am thinking that in practice, how would this really work?

If it's anything like gift card purchases via AMEX which are always excluded in T&Cs, yet it still works, then there's a chance that the wording may not hold true.

      • I think it would all depend on the point(s) of trigger.

I'm willing to bet the point of trigger is just the point-of-sale in the restaurant.

Having a 2nd trigger via Dimmi is just too complicated.

        • Having a 2nd trigger via Dimmi is just too complicated.

that seems to be the nature of the sync between dimmi accounts and amex cards :)

Dimmi Sync Program Terms and Conditions

          Effective Date: 28 November 2016

You will be identified as an American Express Card Member on your Dimmi profile.

An eligible Card Member may only sync one eligible Card per Dimmi account.

You can cancel your participation in this program at any time by disconnecting your synced Card by visiting your Dimmi Account online. You may also contact Dimmi's Customer Service.

        • @tonester:

that seems to be the nature of the sync between dimmi accounts and amex cards :)

My point was having a 3rd trigger point to make sure you completed a reservation, had a bill >$50 and paid with amex is complicated. There's too many exception cases where the restaurant forgets to report back to dimmi.

As someone else pointed out, the enrollment page is very similar to the manual enrollment link for other amex deals. I'm betting that once you've enrolled all your cards (through any number of dimmi accounts), the credit will trigger by simply by paying.

        • You can cancel your participation in this program at any time by disconnecting your synced Card by visiting your Dimmi Account online.

I am new to Dimmi, but nowhere in the account can I see a synced Card listed (having done the sync), or that I can disconnect the synced card. Would be nice to know.

        • +2

@bluesky: The deal is active now, you should be able to check your card sync at https://www.dimmi.com.au/my-profile/my-details and also unlink the card there if you want to change it.

        • @forumninja: Oh yes, indeed. Thank you very much :-)

  • +4

There are quite a few restaurants that are also on Entertainment Book, so stack those would give you some nice discounts.

    • +3

      forgot about that too.

Dimmi Amex Credit + Entertainment Book + Amex Shop small = A happy Ozbargainer

        Steer

Dimmi Amex + Ent Book + Shop Small. Great steaks.

        • +good food gift card :)

        • this is not part of the dimmi offer is it?

          @vvti85:

          Ah yeah, you are right.

Criniti's is in Entertainment Book plus on the list above. I went to their 2 for 1 drinks (soft drink is $5) and get unlimited pizza deal last month. Good place.

        • +1

          @tonester:

Can you combine EC with Good Food? I think that's combining 2 promotions.

        • @neil:

          some places allow it

also forgot you can also combine with a dimmi rewards voucher:

          $20 dimmi rewards + $20 amex dimmi + $10 amex shop small + 25% entbook + good food gc

  • Nice deal, though sadly only one restaurant up here supports the deal (and I've already used my Entertainment book voucher with them!)

  • Perhaps there is the possibility of a triple dip in Perth? (including shop small and entertainment book)

  • +2

Getting error 404 when clicking link. Offer ozbargained already?

  • 404

      Same. ;'(

Can someone post up Sydney restaurants? I don't really want to sign up to Dimmi unless it's worth it!

  • That link is dead.
Is it expected to go live on Nov 28?

Edit: Link in above comments works
    https://www.dimmi.com.au/links/amex-partnership

    • +1

Thats not for the offer though. The partnership will allow you to simply search for restaurants that accept amex - no cashback mentioned anywhere.

      • Yeah you're right, just realised.
I guess I'll see what turns up when the offer starts?

  • I think they released the website my mistake now instead of 28th and they have taken it offline. Check again on 28th

  • I just synced it and you don't have to wait until the 28th, got a confirmation email as well.

  • +1

    404

    Oops, Something went wrong!

    • must've gotten oz hammered

  • +3

    What is dimmi

  • good deal

  • The resturant list is tiny and pretty crap overall

    • +1

THIS! Only 2 restaurants in Brisbane and both put the average spend at $100/person. So it's more like $20 off $200 not $50.
Unless someone goes to a fancy restaurant by themselves and orders the sausages…

      • haha i just enrolled and had a look now. good news! there are now THREE restaurants in brisbane eligible! they're probably forcing the restaurants to cough up the entire discount. unlike shop small, which is basically free money for small businesses.

        • And now there is 4!
Including a moderately priced turkish place… nice.

  • few restaurants in newcastle.. now to wait for the rego to open

  • Can we only use the Amex welcome venues or is that not an accurate indication?

  • How do you "Sync your American Express Card to your Dimmi account"? I went to "My account page" in dimmi and couldn't find this option. Do you have to use the app?

  • +1

Is anybody able to use the link? https://www.dimmi.com.au/links/amex-offers

    • 404 for me.

    • Getting the usual '404' stuff…

  • 404

  • -2
    • I got Error 405 with that.

  • I get a page error

  • -1

I couldn't find where to sync but finally got to this link: https://dpui.americanexpress.com/AU/au/programme-Dimmi-ameri…

    • Yes directly opening the link says "Error 405: Request method 'GET' not supported"

  • Anyone have any luck with the links recently? Still coming up with errors for me…

    • Just tried to book and got 404 error…

  • If you've got a Dimmi account, just sign in and the promo page where you register for the deal will come up.

  • So I don't see any difference if you follow the link for participating restaurants which should say "Amex Offer" vs "Amex Welcome"?

    I'm in Melbourne.

  • One restaurant in Canberra…

    • The page is probably showing the restaurants that have reservations right now. Try changing the dates and you'll get heaps more. All the usual suspects AFAIK.

      • Thanks, there are two now :(

        • Haha you get an additional one and you give a sadface?

        • Sorry mate - my bad. I was looking at all Canberra restaurants.

You are correct that there's only two Canberra restaurants participating in the Amex offer.

Cancelling my Dimmi's account right now…..

  • No love for Adelaide and Hobart?

  • I'm not a dimmi memebr so the links in the OP are not working are there many restaurants participating in Perth?

    • +1

      Only the
      Squires Loft Subiaco

  • Can anyone post a list of restaurants? The website doesn't allow me to see the participating restaurants without linking my amex first.

  • does anyone know if we can claim the cashback for more than one reservations?

  • Limited to the first 25,000 bookings.

How are we going to know when 25,000 bookings have already been made…will end up spending $50 and just not get the $20 back??

    • This is a good question. Unlike the usual cashback offers, if limit is reached, you won't be able to register. And if you can register successfully, then the cashback is assured.

With this first 25,000 bookings, you won't know when limit is reached. I really hope it is not like that …

      • Does that mean that I can get multiple credit under one account and one card

        • Read the T&C a couple times - It is not clearly stated.

  • +2

  • I don't think I'm reading it in the T's & C's but can this offer be used more than once before the deal expires?

We used it last night and got confirmation of the credit going through, but can we do it again with another booking at another restaurant? Or is it a one-off?

    • Yeah, unlike other Amex deals, this one is not so clear. See discussion above. And even possibility that once 25000 bookings are reached, maybe cashback won't be given.

Personally, I think Amex won't do such a thing, it will only create unhappy customers, and so far in my experience, they have been exemplary, in terms of making customers happy.

  • Had dinner at Ribs and Rumps and just got a message from Dimmi saying that the restaurant did not quality Amex offer for $20 credit. TWAT.

Dimmi run such a confusing promo and wasted our $50 spend on the card..

only can blame on rushing to booking…

    • That sucks. Surprised they bothered to message you this restaurant did not qualify.

  • Has anyone successfully got their statement credits for this deal? Just had to speak to AMEX to see whats happening with my offer..

  • The list seems to be changing alot. On 30 nov, rengaya wasn't available.

  • I received an email saying my $50 spend was tracked and will receive credits within 5 days.

I went to crinitis and spent $70-$80 so with the entertainment app and the dimmi amex deal this should cost me around $35.

Do you think i can go back here and use this again? My girlfriend also has the entertainment app just wondering if my amex card can use the same dimmi deal twice?

    • I read it as first 25,000 bookings rather than first 25,000 cards to register. But you would want to confirm with AMEX and/or dimmi first.
