I saw the deal too late, already sold out (sigh). I've just been reading on another forum that the Samsung drives arrived poorly packed, I hope they do a better job with Seagates that don't even come in a clam shell pack!

    • Yeah I picked up my Sammy at lunch and it wasn't packed brilliantly…

Love the prices, the fun of finding out the deal, and the amusing forum participation.
Don't like the website acting like COTD, and the packaging could be improved.

until pricesengines write a proper code for their shopping cart, they will receive lots of neg votes on ozbargain.

      • +9

And as long as they have great prices they will continue to sell out of all their stock and the fact that they're being neg'd won't affect their business at all.

        • +1

Exactly. more chance for the people who actually do appreciate PRicesengines offers even though they are limited stock. Some people need to grow some balls.

      Web development costs money.
More money spent on a site means higher prices

I'm happy I got one this time around and the new server seems much faster now too.
I think pricesengine are great and trying to do a good job, they post some great deals and delivery is very fast.

Just trying to help from my observations,
When I ordered mine at 12 the site indicated stock but took me 6 tries to get it, each failed attempt was the expired session notice others are getting after the paypal login (I was in paypal less than a minute each time).
As minniewu(does deserve a lunch break btw so does all their staff) has indicated stock is reserved even if it is not confirmed until 10min or manually released.
So my attempts actually reserved 5 items that others could have bought, assuming this situation has been happening to others then, it is easily foreseeable that stock will sell out fast, but in reality only a handful are completed. E.G. out of 100 stock only 16 are actually really sold.

My point is pricesengine need to figure out whats causing these "expired" sessions. Also possibly lower the 10 min to maybe 5?

    Thanks

man you love to whinge whinge whinge
Have you seen sites like 1day, catchoftheday when they have good sales? they perform much worse. But i'm sure you'd be on there whinging as well because you were too slow, impatient or unlucky to get anything :)

I missed out on this deal as well, but i'm not going to blame them for having too good a deal to satisfy everyone that wants it.

  • -4

Get your sh*t together pricesengine I say.

  • Man I missed their deal again!! :(

    • you need to have a late lunch, not at 12.00

    • not yet, they will release more at 4pm

        • +4

you're making yourself look real sad with this constant whinging….

          • @zhenjie: he won't stop whinging until he gets one

    • What it's your post code. Let me test it for you.

      Ozbargain hides annoying post.

  • Guy's I'm back

    Thanks for the lunch time.

Let me see where we are now.

    • Miniewu, do you have any left or is it SOLD OUT?

    • time to restock minnie, thats where you are at now

  • +1

Server seems much better this time around, managed to snag myself one earlier.

    Damn good price!

  • I'm loving pricesengine, absolute bargains!!, So far i have 2 x intel ssd, 1 samsung F3, 1 dlink adsl modem, and now 3 seagate drives ;)

    • So nowadays 12noon is pricesengine time? Used to be COTD time, I think.

  • got to get one! argghh

  • +5

Are we going to put the new stock on now? But I was telling everybody say 4pm.

Anyone agree we put it on now?

    Please vote.

    • yes now!!

      • +1

I somewhat agree with now, although it would be unfair for those who have put off going back until 4pm.

    • Half now, half at 4. Split the server load.

Besides, I have to get back to work.

    • Im here but I sure some people will be waiting till 4pm

Not everyone is at a PC at all times

I think its your call but Im sure there are a few people hitting F5 as well … lol

    • MinnieWu…

I will probably get flamed for this… But it's probably better to put it back on at 4pm as you have previously suggested… Otherwise the people that will come back at 4pm will have missed it and then you'll get flamed again…

Any other deals that you can put on in the meanwhile?

    • Some now and some at 4pm, so that those hoping to get at 4pm are not disappointed.

  • yes

  • Now!

  • +8

We are going to be fair with everyone. So guys can we wait until 4pm Please ~

      • +3

that sounds like a racist remark!. I can take a joke but that is not funny at all. No need to get nasty Dude and stop being a SORE looser if you missed out.

        • +1

Another option for some desperate loosers might be to pay a bit more and get it for $80.99 with free shipping from 9289.

      • not good look

        reported

      • You lot are insane! It was just a dumb remark. Like "I'll poop in your letterbox"

Sorry Minniewu if I caused offense.

    • Do you have an indication of stock that will be available at 4?

  • +1

And for god's sake people, don't click on the checkout button if you're not going to buy the item.

That places it on order and reduces the stock count.

    • You're right though I think it could be rectified by programming though, say reduce count when an item is actually paid.

  • Anyone recommend a externall enclosure for drive? I saw some on ebay (no brand) for 17 dolloar. Not sure how good they will be.

  • I do know that I would be furious if I came back at 4pm and found the stock finished when I accepted your statement that the sremaining stock was to be released at 4pm - BAD ETHICS to clean the stock out now !

BTW - I have decided that this is not a deal for me as the shipping to VIC put the price too close to Centrecom's $81 with no risk of shipping damage or loss and easy return if DOA.

Our IT department have something would like to tell you guys.

    From IT department.

"Pricesengine's stock system makes sure that each person who goes to paypal
after clicking on the express checkout button has a stock reserved for him/her so he/she
can smoothly confirm the purchase after getting back from paypal without being
denied of the purchase just because there is no more stock available. In the same way, it also makes the
buying process much quicker as you won't need to specify any quantity again at the confirmation page.
But a problem which arises from this is when a buyer clicks on the checkout button, goes to paypal and decides not to continue the purchase which
leaves the stock reserved for him/her floating. So we now have to manually put these floating stock back to the available stock after a reasonable waiting time."

Until it was pointed out to me that your "Shipping Cost" applet on the front page only accepted numerics from the keyboard top line keys and not the NUMERIC keys on the RHS of the keyboard, the only way I (and I suspect for many others) could find the shipping cost was to go through the checkout process and dump the transaction at the confirm screen.

If, like me, they found the total cost unattractive then there is no cancel key so the only way out is to close the confirmation page leaving you with held stock.

      Thus, I suggest you:

1 - fix the shipping quote applet to accept any numeric entry
2 - add a "No Thanks" key to the confirmation page

These changes would go a long way towards fixing this problem

      Ozzie

      • agreed, pretty simple to put in the page code that when the user hits the X button to ask them if they wish to cancel the order and if they hit yes it adds on item back into stock.

      • +1

Good idea. In fact we are already working on the cancel button.

It's was a good idea. Thanks for your comment.

    • I don't think this is the case. Because I just clicked express checkout and after logging into paypal and click continue it comes out with an 'ooops' session expired. Try to checkout again and it is out of stock :(

  • Removed = Never mind

  • Hey PriceEngines/minniewu,

Can someone confirm that this is the 7200.12 model?

    • GEEZ there has been more debate on this post than in comparison to our new PM lol

    • From the model code: ST31000528AS

It would suggest that this is the 7200.12 model…

Am pretty sure the earlier (troublesome) model has not been in circulation for quite a while now.

    • If you google the product number (ST31000528AS) and then click on the first result seagate says it is the 7200.12.

    • Yes it is.

  • 8 min to go guys

    • can we buy more than one?

      • +1

        not, one customer each only.

        Thanks

  • How many are up for sale?

  • it still saying sold out

    • No you gona be quick. start moving right now.

  • Still saying sold out here too, unless it's all gone in 2 mins.. :(

    • GOT ONE just 5 secs ago, WOOT
keep refreshing (F5), and you should get that "1" in the paypal section/..good luck mate

      • Yeah, got it…tried to go on twice..timed out after Paypal twice..sold out again. Sigh..

  • getting through to paypal sign on then it fails…:(
    Keep getting session expired.

    • trying again please.

      • Still getting session expired…..Ahh cant be bothered anymore!

  • lol i think they are getting hammerred

  • WOOOT!!!! LAGGGGGG…

Yes, I am getting session expired as well…

    • It's responding fast for me but still says Sold Out.

  • Just managed to get one!

Im refreshing the site right now and there still seems to be stock left so for those of you that can't get in - keep trying!

  • guys all gone!!!!

50 unit gone in 6 min. in fact we have over sold about 30 unit.

    • sigh

I had got to the paypal screen, continued, then it said "Session expired"

Oh well. Thanks for the opportunity to grab a bargain. :-)

  • Yep, got the session expired like 5 times.

Edit: And all gone, I get the complaints about the site now.

    • I hear it and report to our IT Department already.

Does anyone has face the same thing like HarryHighPants?

  • Opps error twice. FFS!!!!!

    • what is the error message?

Let me report to our IT department.

  • +1

What can I say, THANK YOU to both the website and the poster. Great price!

  • i got one WOOT after reading all ur comments here about lag, i think you guys need a better ISP.
Jokes…just keep the F5 button going

    • I was getting instant refresh but still got nothing but "Sold Out". If 30mbps cable can't cut it then what can?

  • Took a while but finally got one! :D

  • for some reason you have to open a new instance of firefox for the soldout to turn to 1 ? clearing the cache doesn't work ?

  • Yippe I got one… well I think so. Paypal registered the payment and I got the confirmation from Pricesengine's website. If it's oversold then I expect to get my money back just as quickly. Firefox seemed to be harder to get a response from the web site. I didn't try IE.

It took a few times of session timeouts but Paypal finally connected back.

  • Logged into paypal twice confirmed twice then opps error.

    • did you check your paypal account have money or not?

      • I have a feeling those using firefox had errors… Those using IE did not have errors.

I was using firefox and got session expired. Anyone else have this problem with IE??

        • oh ya it is possible.

  • Sold out again. No deal.

  • lol i want my samsung f3

  • woo just caught 1 lucky !!!

  • I have suggestion, after paying to paypal, show customer information for verification in https (secure) mode

    • any reason why you suggest about this?

      • As someone might do 'packet sniff' and get customer credential details (ie: home address, etc)

  • That was easy.

    • You didn't got it?
