  • I need to replace my head unit in my car, anyone knows a good 2 dins with google auto at supercheap? I read kenwood was good but I'm quite a noob

    • +1

I bought the Pioneer AVH-X8850BT (due to the many deals listed for it in OZB) for the Android Auto connectivity. works well but the reception for radio compared to my 12yo subaru factory unit was pretty crap. Maybe Pioneer just assumes people rather listen to what's on their smartphone these days.

      • Thanks, I'll look into it. I was hoping to find one on sale at supercheap and top it with a 15% discount with gift card … I guess not this time

      • It's a shame as their older 'Supertuner variants' were renowned for excellent reception in car. They were the factory stereo for a number of cars over the years and always performed well.

    • I bought a Sony unit this year. It has lots of features and flashing lights. The sound is terrible though.

    Interesting…0 feedback seller…

  • Does anybody know if the Event Cinemas gift card can be used on any day of the week? Like after 6pm on a Saturday?

  • does anyone know when the expiry date of the gift cards are?

    • +2

Click on the card you want to buy, then scroll down to the bottom. There's a list of T&Cs :)

Cheers. David jones ones expire in 12 months if anyone is curious

        • DJs Gift Cards should have a two-year expiry date …

        • @kerfuffle:
This card expires 12 months after date of issue. Any balance that remains on the card after expiry will not be available for use.
^ I got that from the sellers T&Cs

        • @tobi3421: Very weird. :/ I work for DJs and they always have a two-year expiry date. Wonder why these particular ones expire after 12 months

        • +1

          @kerfuffle:

          maybe its an error.
I guess we will find out once we receive the gift cards haha

  • What does it mean by "Card valid for use 24 hours after purchase."? Does that mean all the value of the gift card must be used up within 24 hours?

    • may be how long it takes to activate

  • Does anyone know.. Can you use country road GF at their outlets?

Why the ebay seller has zero feedback? Suspicious to me

    • Yes. I noticed that too… and he/she is a new member…

Based in Australia, giftcardstore_au has been an eBay member since 26 Oct, 2016

I think ebay/paypal protects the purchaser for 2 months if I remember correctly. Anyway, I do not think there is a problem as I am planning to use it around Christmas.

      • What if it's a hit and run? Card never arrives and they cash out the funds.

        • -1

No they won't be able to cash out…

Ebay or PayPal has the policy to protect the buyer.

However, I will use the gift card as soon as i receive it.

    • Good catch, it was indeed a scam.

  • -2

Will any of these cards work in JB Hi-Fi or Ebgames retail stores?

    • Try the good food ones

  • Myer has Coles Myer GC, any GCs worth buying from DJ?

  • Good Food or Best Restaurants gift card. Which is better?

Check out with another PayPal method, like the one we're showing now.

    Is this fraud?

  • this has got to be the quickest any ebay seller has gone from 0 feedback to 9999+

  • Has anyone bought and had their order shipped / fulfilled?

  • Seems like the David Jones voucher is the most popular… By a fair margin..

    Wonder why

    • I suspect to get discounts on brands that are rarely discounted.

      • or to get discounts on top of existing discounts…..

  • Event sold out :(

  • Is it the actual plastic physical card?

    • I would also like to know this

  • Can combine BCF 15% off cards with their 20% off Engel fridge/freezers sale at the moment.
They also have some combo deals where you get a free cover.
    eg. http://www.bcf.com.au/Product/Engel-MR40F-Eclipse-Fridge-Fre…

  • anyone got their gift card posted?

  • I have sent email to ebay to check - ebay confirmed they have 30 days money back guarantee for physical gift card but not for e-gift card.

  • Wow…$376,000 worth of DJ's $85 vouchers sold!

    Serious business!!

  • Has any one got there order yet or ship notification ?

  • Just checked the mail and nothing yet.
The seller has just received it's first feedback.

  • Anyone got their vouchers yet or we all got scammed?

  • +2

Has anyone received their gift cards yet?
my ebay delivery estimation shows Monday 14th and I need them asap, so I tried to reach the seller and got this unusual reply

Hi & thanks for your query,

Unfortunately we are experiencing difficulty updating the status of your order to 'shipped'. However the good news is that your order has been dispatched from our fulfilment centre and you should receive it next week.

    Regards
    Gift Card Store Customer Support

I ordered other things on the same day and day after from different sellers, order status worked fine and delivered
so I can confirm order status issue is on their end
I just want to share this for those in the same situation
Seller is still there responding and fingers crossed we will get them soon

    • Thanks for your update. The offer ends today (11/12) so hopefully they will get organised and mass-fulfill everyone's orders in time for the festive season. If not they'd be expecting a lot of eBay disputes lol.

my ebay delivery estimation shows Monday 14th

I don't know which gift card you bought but apparently eBay has advised that you will receive yours on Monday, 14 August 2017 (https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/weekday-monday-14)

Too bad for you bro :)

      • That's probably why seller advised David Jones gift card expires in 12 months instead of the usual 24 months :p

  • I got charged a cash advance fee on my credit card for the giftcard purchases even though I paid via PayPal (which is linked to my credit card). Did this happen to anyone else?

    • What's your credit card issuer?
Just checked my CBA, no cash advance fee

      • St George Amplify. I called St George and they agreed to waive the $2.50 fee, and told me to call back at the end of the month to get the interest waived. They told me it's the bank's policy to treat gift card purchases as "cash advance" and if I had bought a physical gift card from say Woolies, they would also treat it as cash advance.

        • I also got hit with cash advance on STG amplify signature. They said the merchant put the transaction through as a cash transaction (I never knew this was possible with PayPal in the middle) but as a goodwill gesture they were happy to refund the cash advance fee. I noticed the day after it happened and paid my card in full so I doubt interest will be significant (if it is I'll be making another call).

It is not a blanket policy of theirs to charge cash advance on gift card purchases - I get the 5% off discounted WISH cards all the time and don't get cash advanced for those, it's just the way this merchant is processing this to get faster access to the funds.

        • @jay29043:

mines with latitude even if i pay the card in full they didnt deduct it from the cash advance they instead deducted the payment as extra repayment on 60 months interest free account.

I needed to call them to make a manual payment to stop the interest

    • yes, opened a dispute with paypal.

$2.50 + interest and now I'm on my banks record as one of the financially inept that withdraws cash from a credit card.

Wish I'd never seen this. thanks OP!!

    • Just checked my 28 Degrees Mastercard and found I've been hit for $5.10 in cash advance. Will have to open a Paypal dispute. Anything specific I should say?

      • Also raise a dispute with 28 Degrees. If you press hard enough and plead ignorance, they should waive the fee (and interest) for you as a one-time out of good gesture type thing.

        • I tried to find their PDS but I can't even find it, only for shoppers protection. In the 10 years I have been using them never had an issue and just yesterday I bought nintendo gift cards and not an issue grrr they told me to go back to the seller, seller told me its the bank

        • @kawinuyo: I anticipate a lot of blame-shifting to come. I haven't heard a word from PayPal after my dispute a few days ago. I pay PayPal to keep my financial details secret from the seller. As far as the seller should be concerned, PayPal is paying the bill. As far as 28 Degrees should be concerned, I made a payment to PayPal. It should be irrelevant to 28 Degrees who I am paying and what I am buying.

        • @endotherm:
took 15mins arguing with the foreign latitude call centre,
the lady with poor English skills saying that I should know better you chose to use paypal and all paypal transactions are cash advance and i shouldn't use. obviously not true, she finally checked properly.

Blackhawk is the unique merchant of paypal , and Blackhawk is registered as a Financial services provider, all financial services (IE paying credit card bills, loans, cash value cards incur cash advance fees).

Also the probably illegal latitude finance computer system does not automatically pay the most expense debt on your card first, so i had to manually pay it over the phone.

    • My CBA has a $2.50 cash advance fee sigh. Anyone have luck getting this waivered?

edit: called commbank. They said they're willing to waiver this as 'goodwill' if i pay off the balance in full asap. I told them I had no idea it would happen.

    • Got charged cash advance fee on my cc#, despite paying via Paypal. Westpac would not refund the cash advance fee saying it was due to BLACKHAWK pushing the transaction thru as a cash advance/cash sale?? @#$@#%@#$@#$

  • Ditto 28 degrees been hit with cash advanced… Sigh

    • wow, what does that actually mean? i used some of my paypal balance.
      was this a dodgy deal?

      • Worst case it cuts into your 15% saving by 2.5%. I'm more concerned that someone is helping themselves to money I didn't authorise.

        • more than 2.5% if you are using a credit card and not a debit card.

my cash advance rate is 22.99% for example
It takes a few days of interest to alert you to add the cash advance fee
after which payments with latitude take 5 days to clear, after which you cannot even make the payments to pay back cash advances until after statement date (upto 30 days).

For many this can cut the 15% saving down to 5% or less. or even cost a lot if you don't even notice the cash advance until after statement date.

    • Just called Coles MC and they are reversing my CAF ($2.55) as a gesture of goodwill (same mob as 28° MC).
The CS person said it did seem strange that the merchant was taking the payment as "cash" rather than a regular CC payment.
My payment was through Paypal also, so it does seem weird that this could even be considered a cash payment.
Just adds more sour taste (suspicion) to an already dodgy deal. Still hoping the cards come thorough before Xmas.

My order was supposed to have been delivered today.
    No delivery.
    No card.
Conveniently for them, Ebay is showing the seller as away until 14th December…
I wonder if they have sent it Aussie Post?

    • if you read the feedback, someone paid extra for express post, yet no delivery

  • Seriously, has anyone received it?
I just read through the post, I can't understand why people who posted a legitimate concern is being negged, something is wrong here
I certainly hope everything goes well as I ordered $200 worth of DJ gift cards myself but if it doesn't, we should take this as a huge lesson learned/case study, bet Possumbly will be saying "See, I told you so!"

  • This is the message your get from eBay when lodging a dispute:
We're sorry there's an issue with your purchase. Unfortunately, this item isn't in a category covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee. We don't offer buyer protection on items listed in the Real Estate category, certain Motors categories, or in the Classified Ad format. You can try to work out this problem by contacting the seller.

    • Shizz that's not good to hear 🤔

If things go south TA's cred on Ozb is gonna drop big time

      • Seriously why someone downvoted him?
I hope TA who works for ebay's affiliate network has been contacting ebay to solve this issue

if it turns out to be a scam, ebay should give us compensation for opportunity cost and trust on top of our refund

I'll try to reach bhnetwork and let you guys know how it goes

      • If things go south TA's cred on Ozb is gonna drop big time

Looks like the deal had nothing to do with TA. TA/CR didn't negotiate the promo - or he would have claimed credit and not just point out its an ebay RPP promo page.

I hope TA who works for ebay's affiliate network has been contacting ebay to solve this issue

Common sense and looking at why the ebay account was suspended can be found at the feedback history (impatient buyers).

This shouldn't be a scam, this was heavily promoted on landing pages, edms, and all over their app by eBay. To get promoted like that takes weeks of planning by eBay and the seller. eBay has account managers based in Sydney in their York st office who liaise with key sellers, like sales reps, and come up with all these % off sales. Hence why there is usually a % off event on al out all the time. For a promo like this to go ahead, there would have been weeks of planning by eBay and the seller, for each event there are contracts drawn up between eBay and the seller with the funding arrangements agreed to for the discount and each parties responsibilities. eBay would have personally met the seller. And the seller is Blackhawk which is a massive company who does all those gift cards you see plastered on walls in woolies, coles, Australia post ect. Blackhawk facilititates the electronic sales of gift cards for almost every type of card imaginable, if this is a scam then eBay would also have been scammed. And given the promotional elements eBay put behind this, and the thousands of cards sold, I can't see eBay just sittINg back and doing nothing about it. I read this forum regularly, but I don't normally comment or post, because I actually have a very large eBay store, and my deals are regularly posted on here so it's not right for me to comment, but on this particular deal, I felt I am entitled to comment, as I have bought $500 in cards on this deal, and yes I too am waiting for them to arrive. But knowing intimately how these deals are structured by eBay, I highly doubt this is a scam. My initial though, from experience, is the seller has been overwhelmed by the volume, and didn't have the right resources in place to handle the volume being sold and needing to be posted out. I know I my case, the first couple times we were involved in events, we were so unprepared for the volume we had to deal with..

i hope so.but there lack of communication and it has been 8 days since i ordered these giftcards and only 2 people have left positive feedback.all i can say is WTF are they doing.i will be leaving negative feedback even if they do arrive, just for their lack of communication ;(

this might be a good story for A Current Affair

Hi David and thanks for your recent order,

Unfortunately we are experiencing difficulty updating the status of your order to 'shipped' on the eBay platform. However, the good news is that your order has been dispatched from our fulfillment centre and you should be receiving it this week.

Feel free to add Gift Card Store to your favourite sellers to keep up to date with other promotional activities.

  • Mine just marked as sent a moment ago, hopefully will arrive soon

  • Just spoke to a lady on the landline. Assured me its not a scam and will get back to me about the order. She seemed to be surprised they are getting bad PR and suspicious about this being scam when I mentioned many hundreds are unhappy she was surprised and asked how I knew this - mentioned OZB. Still waiting for the phone call (only 10 mins though).

  • So has anyone taken any action with paypal yet? Mine was estimated delivery 12 Dec, but hasn't even been marked as shipped.

    • Tried to but Paypal said they won't take any actions as it's eBay purchase and eBay said this is classified as one of the items that's got no buyer protection.

  • -1

its looking better. My order on eBay has not been marked as shipped ! Also noticed that today they received about a dozen positive feedback. Like I posted earlier this would not be a scam. To receive the marketing support their did with EDM's from eBay and home page banners on ebay.com.au there had to be eBay involvement and planning for this deal. Ebay doesn't just put stuff up for fun on their homepage, as that is one of the most valuable pieces of reals estate online getting millions of views per week. That real estate is worth a fortune. so they would not put up something that was not legitimate and not a genuine offer. Given they are a new seller, they would have been swamped with orders, and probably were caught off guard, and did not have the people and procedures in place to handle the load. Trust me, I have been through it, and I know the first couple of times you do massive deals on eBay, you learn very very quickly, that the volumes can be overwhelming, and if you are not adequately prepared, things can go south faster than expected.

  • +1

I received a reassuring phone call from Blackhawk Network. It appears they were unprepared for the response and amount of work it would take to serve so many sudden eBay orders. Hopefully things will be under control for them this week.
