gigabyte 5770 video card $189

250

Gigabyte ATI 5770 video card

Shipping looks to be NOT included but still cheap.

Overclocked edition so I don't know if its anything like the 5850 where nonreference = suck but otherwise it looks like a good deal especially if youre not comfortable with ocing yourself.

  • Yeah I don't know about this one..
They say it's 'super overclocked' but can't you do that by yourself?
If so, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy elsewhere?

Staticice shows the cheapest 1GB to be $162: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=hd5770&spos=3

Also with shipping included, that brings the price to around $195…

    • You're looking at the wrong model - I don't know what "super overclocked" means either but this model on staticice turns up a cheapest of $229, so this is a decent deal

      http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=GV-R577SO-1GD&s…

      • Is that so… Well I hope there's a notable difference between those two then.
Hope it's not just a marketing gimmick where they pre-overclock it then charge you extra.

    • The benefit of buying a factory overclocked card over DIY is that it's tested and has the full warranty.

Finally a VGA card deal from Price Engine, but why 5770 instead of 5850 :(

  • +1

I just found a good comprehensive review for this card if anybody interested:
    http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1882&pageID=9184

  • Not quite cheap enough for impulse buying though. I'll upgrade when I need to, by which time there will surely be something better for the same price. But a positive vote anyway, a deal for anyone that needs one.

  • Meh, not cheap enough, I'm still waiting for some 5870's to pop up on here.

  • Yeah….waiting for the 5870 to drop to the $300 mark (or less). Come on Price Engine, you can do it~!!!

Still undecided to buy this or not… Almost $195.76.
More expensive than MSY's 5770, but on the other also has better cooling.

Regardless, I'm upvoting this because Sales Rep actually listened to our requests.

    • or half listened , still a positive though :)

    • Decided to buy this.
      I figured it's probably better getting a better quality 5770 than a cheap 5870.

      • +1

the quality of these should all be the same if they're reference design
they're usually only different if it's factory OC'd

I'd would've gone with the cheap 5870 (but where can you get a 5870 for under $200?).

        • Well that's actually the point: It IS factory overclocked.
Based on cyberhk's link, the card runs on the average 10°C less than other HD 5770 that uses reference cooler. It'll help my PC to an extent (it doesn't really have fancy cooling system except a fan at the back).
To me, that's good enough to fork the extra $24.76 (plus I don't have to walk to MSY in the cold early in the morning).

          • @[Deactivated]: Then it's in your eyes well spent.
Didn't notice that it was a non-reference cooler. The slight premium for this is worth it then.

Doesn't MSY have this same card for $192?

    • I don't think so, a friend of mine bought the GB 5770 a couple of months ago, and it wasn't the OC edition.

  • Would this be able to run 3 monitors off the one card

  • Cheers mate planning to setup a race sim and wanted to run 3 screens with rfactor this looks like it would do the job

  • I'm using a 5770 XFX and I must say its a beast for such a low price. If your upgrading with a low budget I can't recommend anything better. I got mine for $130 off a friend but it does all the newest games in high-very high settings and has dx11 on it. If you decide you want another, go a head and use crossfire for cheap.

    • what about battlefield bad company 2 on 1920*1080?

      • Yeah at about 40fps. Resolution won't be a problem for this card, it really depends if you want the details and AA/AF turned up to the max.

      • yeah, playing that atm with all settings on max and it does between 30-40fps never drops below 25.
EDIT: I also have it running it on a 24" 1920x1080 monitor with an i7 930, 6GB of DDR3 RAM.

  • minniewu,I ordered the Samsung 1TB hard drive and have yet to receive it, I have sent a number of e-mails with no response. Can you check for me. My order id O -11475.

  • wow 5770 still this expensive i paid 189 last year O_O

    • Yes because Australian dollar is weak the prices of computer components are actually more expensive than 2 months ago.

    • well i got a 5870 recently for $550 and now its around $100 less.

      • I don't know which one did you buy but MSY sold Gigabyte 5870 at $469 on May 24 but now is $462, only $7 less. High end cards' prices are always falling very quickly but this pace is really very slow. If you look at 5850, almost all of them are 10% more expensive than before.

        • I guess there's more of a demand for the 5770s keeping prices up then. Only reason I can think off.
And high end computer parts lose value extrememely quickly. They also usually come out at a premium for those who want the fastest asap (possibly due to short supply at the begging as well?) and then drop to sway those who are border line between high and mid later on (or could be just the fact that there is more stock latter on, and not enough people are buying em)

Meh, I wouldn't call this a bargain. Slightly less than others are selling for, but definately not a bargain.

    • -1
