  • 65" X7500D any good? Or any other suggestions for 65" tv

    • Good for the price but there are much better TVs.

      • +1

        For $1999 though?
Please bless us with your knowledge!

        • This went recently for 1500 at Costco likely to go again at that price near to Christmas or other TVs like LG65UH770T to be nearer to 2k again which is a very good tv , is 200hz and supports both Dolby vision(needs hw inside to support unlike software driven HDR) and HDR10 .

        • Samsung 65KU7000/7500 is near $2000 or even less..buy that over Sony 65x75d
Recently LG65UH770T was near 2k..much better than either of these TVs.

    • I wouldn't buy it unless it's the X8500D 75" or X9300D 75". Have to wait another 6 months for the prices to come down.

      • Hahahaha, you said that 8 months ago. Thought you were hanging out for the 12 days of Christmas Sale?

      • Bought 75x8500d recently for 3k @costco likely to go again at that price near Christmas.

      • +1

You've been saying that for months.

  • Do we know how long they'll stay at these prices for?
Four days til pay-day, damnit OzB.

    • +2

Most likely till end of today.

    • It says it ends 11:59pm tonight or when out of stock I suppose

      • Ah, yeah I'm not logged in so it shows nothing at all. Guess I'd need to create an account for that eh ;)
        Cheers.

    • +2

What do you want? I'll broden it so you don't have to worry anymore.

  • +3

Yes! Missed the srs-x99 last time by 10mins, got one now, awesome unit at cheapest price ever.

    • Those who bought the SRS-X99 last time, is the Airplay connection quick? Any frequent dropouts?

      • I have an srs-x77 and x88 and ive never noticed any dropouts.

      • I've always had issues with Airplay. At least these speakers have network/wifi streaming as well as BT. I've learned that if you use Spotify Connect (wifi), the music streams from Spotify directly, rather than via the phone (you don't run your phone down, it simply acts as your remote control).

Any reason you want to stick to Airplay (wifi streaming seems to work fine on iOS devices)?

    • Thanks, I pulled the trigger on this as well ;-) Reviews are
      Amazing!

    Word of warning.

Placed order 7 days ago showing plenty of stock. Called today wondering where item was and was told that there is no stock and no ETA when they will be back in stock. No emails or updates provided.

Refund refused as matter needs to be sent to head office for "consideration"

When I explained that selling an item that is not in stock without telling a consumer is contrary to Australian guidelines I was placed on hold for 20 minutes with no resolution.

Now have to escalate to my credit card company. Terrible service.saying that this is my first negative experience with Sony

    /rant over

    • +7

This is actually pretty typical for Sony, as far as my experience goes…

I have lost count of the number of times their customer "service" people have botched things up, misunderstood the issue, or just rudely ignored me, and refused to respond. The call staff you speak to in the Philippines have told me on numerous occasions that they have no direct way of contacting the Australian arm of Sony, except via email, and that they often don't get responses.

In one case, there was an order that took over 9 months of waiting, to be finally told that since they weren't getting stock, I would be "allowed" to get a refund… Even a baby doesn't take that long to appear ;-)

    • +1

what did you order? i ordered something arrived within 48 hours

      • I ordered the earphones. Hopefully they'll arrive soon.

      • Same, over the 20 orders I've done with Sony they have always been ridiculously quick ("box damaged" headphone sales) :D

      • I used to buy from Sony a lot in the past and many of the orders were delivered promptly and without issue. But they say a test of company is how they handle the situation when things go wrong, and in my experience, Sony haven't handled it well on numerous occasions when things didn't go to plan.

    Hey anyone else notice this…

    1)log in
2)click on drop down tab and click on xmas deals
3)Click on the drop down tab again and see some other members user name as your own.

    • Yes, happens often when I log in

    • At one point a few months back, people were reportedly seeing other people's details such as addresses and purchase history - great if you wanted to be robbed; the thieves would have a "shopping list" :-(

Sony has had some famous security breaches in the past (think Playstation Network in 2011, or more recently in 2014) - so perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise ;-)

  • Is the Alarm Clock a digital radio?

  • TV Prices look wrong

  • Got the earphones, they are meh to say the least. Sound quality is pretty bad. Also if you do get, get black, not blue like me, its pre-bright blue and looks a lil douchey lmao.

  • +2

Call me silly but I got the SRSZR7 rather than the SRSX99B.
It's newer, cheaper, and I don't think I need that much power.

    • same - I'm thinking of getting 2 SRSZR7 vs the 1 X99…..

      decisions decisions

      • I got the ZR7 last week, great as a soundbar for the TV in the bedroom and for streaming music at low volume but apparently the X99 is a whole different ballgame! So just got the X99 as well for the living. Guess I have to start selling some of my other speakers now…

        • Any idea how I can hook up the ZR7 in conjunction with my current speakers (Fidelio E5). They both have HDMI Arc, but basically thinking of the ZR7 being akin to a centre channel, with the 4.1 of the Fidelio providing the rest.

        • @shankur: ZRs can be set up as rears for certain Sony sound bars, and that's it. The configuration you are talking about is not possible.

        • +2

i got the X99 - hopefully I'll get to listen to it alot, since i'll be sleeping on the couch now

        • @McFly: Hoping it works with hdmi splitter from the TV's arc port.

        • @shankur: You will just end up with 2 copies of the same audio coming out from two separate sources: unacceptable sound, wasted money.

        • @sbm888: I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered, DHL stuffed up again. How's the couch sound?

        • +1

          @bozbargain:
got mine delivered Saturday - sound is nice, just can't decide where to put it.

compared it to a few of my other speakers ranging from cheap Sony 5.1 surround, to Cyrus speakers and amp - and it's somewhere on the lower end to my liking…
i guess we're paying top dollar for the Sony brand and all the wireless connectivity, but the sound didn't really blow me away unfortunately.

also realised how crappy google cast is - it doesn't work if you have music files on your phone, cast ONLY works when the entire library is ONLY on the cloud. if you have files on your phone, it doesn't work (all my files are in the cloud and I have a 25gb on my phone for times I don't want to use data) Google Play Music should be smart enough to know that!

Bluetooth works fine, can't hear any issues, maybe a bit of static (1 second) after 10 minutes of playing.

          hope you get yours soon!

      • well I currently live in a townhouse so can't really have a thumping sound system

  • +1

Now just waiting for the 49" and 43" X8000C TVs to go on sale again.
I notice they have new stock.

  • Trying to register but Sony site says there is a problem try again later.
Has been like this for at least an hour.
Any one else had same problem?

  • Wish that DAB radio was more like $10.

  • +3

I like this from the blu Ray players specs:

    PLAYBACK CAPABILITY
    Playback Yes

  • Would not recommend the $10 headphones. Mine were making these horrible 'popping' noises in my ear, kind of like my ear drum was being flicked. Threw them in the bin because I couldn't be bothered wasting my time chasing up a $10 purchase. Sigh.

    • Do you mean the AS200 Splash-proof In-Ear Headphones? There are a few models selling for $10…

      • Yep sorry, meant those ones.

    • +1

      Suffering OzB fatigue! >.<

    • Damn, I ordered AS200 Splash-proof In-Ear Headphones. Apparently, they've got good reviews online.

      • I could have just had a dodgy one. Overall the sound quality was ok despite the popping sound.

    • That's normal when they move around, due to air getting trapped.

      • Nah it felt different, like something inside the headphone was popping.

        • You mean it was an electronic noise?

        • It was physically painful so I'm not sure.

  • was hoping some camera lenses would be on sale …
    (SEL55F18Z) -> wanting this badly

  • What are the splash proof earphones like? Anyone try them out? Are they more comfortable than they look?

  • Thanks op. My clock radio died last night. 9 + years old. Acquired a replacement one from this post. Saving $9 on postage is also sic

Has anyone any comments on ### Hi-Fi System with Bluetooth and DAB radio - was AUD $249.00 AUD $99.00. http://store.sony.com.au/CMTSBT20B.html#sz=24&start=1

If any good I could give up a couple of cider cartons ?

  • Xperia XA for $229 is a nice price for a mid range phone. xmas present for parents updating from a 4yr old Xperia P

  • newbie at this, trying to get Sony micro c/w bluetooth & dab radio @ $99
don't seem to be getting anywhere.any help appreciated

  • Still waiting for my backpack.

  • The Sony TV is not special, by the time they sent the invoice, the KD49X7000D are now $958.20 on the Sony website with no login required (And $958 at JB Hifi).

    Not a good deal..

    • Are you saying the TV dropped another $50 in price the day after the Xmas sale? That's a bit cheeky (although prices are of course expected to go down further after Xmas).
