I think you mean speeds of 7.2Gbps not 7200Gbps

    • +4

too bad, aussie isps cant provide at this speed. No point of getting an extreme fast router

      • +1

I believe you can still use utilize those speeds on your local network ie streaming between devices but even then its still overkil

    • +4

It has better be 7200Gb/s for that price.

With our shitty, stone-age internet speeds here in Australia, is it really worth to pay that much money for a router? I mean, if one can take advantage of the full potential of such device, then I can understand. Those folks who have NBN connections and are next to exchanges might need this monster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJtj3j_c9kM

    • +3

Exactly, why need to pay for this as our Internet is so slow

    • +2

even if they had 100/25 they wouldn't use this. Its only handy for in house networking. Streaming 4k video to multiple devices, but that assumes you had everyone in the same room streaming 4k to all their devices. But even then these made up speeds are in a lab (shielded from the real world frequencies actoss a table with no other devices connected.

      • +2

Yup! I would rather buy a decent, affordable one that I can utilize most of its capabilities rather than these gimmicky, fancy terminology-ridden ones that won't do me that much.

$600 for a router is just ridiculous.

    • Buying this would be very un-oz-bargain.

  • if you have no use for it, it is a waste of money.
    HOWEVER.

If you have 10 devices in your home connected to your router, and you are streaming 4k movies in three different rooms while browsing the internet, this router can make quite the difference. Remember, it has built in plex also which is an added bonus. The difference the router makes to the network is fantastic.

besides, who on ozbargains cares if a product is good or not, i thought the point was great bargains! hahaha

    • The Plex server bit got me interested. But seeing it's only for USB connected hard drives, not for NAS device, I think I'll pass.

        Apparently it'll only transcode 480p too…

  • +2

Might be willing to pay this much for a home router that boasts firmware certified by ongoing, independent code auditing. Security, not speed, is where they seem to fall short nowadays.

  • $499 if you still have the HN $100 off $300 AMEX deal.

  • am i getting 10 of these?
    i meant x10 obviously…

    "Unbelievable price at this point."

Is it though? It's still $600 for a router.

  • +4

I feel sorry for this guy who is obviously very excited and possibly waited his whole life for this $600 router but can't afford to buy it

  • Is it good for dial-up internet? ;)
