    very nice find,

shame this one won't fit in where I would want however this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-1500-x-410mm-5… would and for $79 its still an okay price.

  • Good price. New product so introductory offer??

  • Bought the 6 tier 2090x1800x540 yesterday.

This one is good price but I need 1800.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/romak-2090-x-1800-x-540mm-grey-6…

  • I've plugged this into my previously prepared spreadsheet and value comes out really good compared to previously purchased Romak shelves! —> Bunnings here I come!

      cool story Dr

    • Romak and Montgomery looks the same.

      • +3

        Montgomery instructions are labelled romak.

  • +1

I just bought 4 Romak shelves that were smaller than this one for $115 :\ If I hadn't already assembled them, I'd take them back Bugger

    • Same with me.I accidentally bought a whole bunch of mismatched ones and it's driving my OCD nuts!

    • do these have sharp edges that cut you easily? are they easy to assemble?

      • +2

        No sharp edges, quite easy

      • I know the Romak ones were super simple to setup. Just make sure you have a rubber mallet and a helper :) First one took about 40 minutes, other 3 took about 10 minutes each. Once you know how to do it, it's quite simple :)

I imaging these Montgomery ones are similar setup.

        • thanks
went to bunnings yesterday and saw the shelves

the display one was wonky and unstable. maybe poorly installed. ill pass for now

  • I got the 1800x410 4 shelf units for $33 each the other day from Bunnings, looks the goods and great price :) (I think they raised the price back up to $39 after that day though)

    • Yup back to $39 but still good value, i bought 2.

2 metres is just a bit too high

  • Anyone have any luck fixing these to their garage brick walls? I'm afraid of loading these things up with heavy gear and kids coming in and climbing the shelves and toppling them.

    • Get a couple of dynabolts

    • Interestingly in a warehouse situation the large racks aren't secured to anything.

      • +1

Yes usually they are bolted to the concrete floor

        • +1

I was told this was to stop an impact from a forklift shifting the supports, not to stop the whole thing toppling? Anyway out of interest I just swung all my (adult) weight off my romak garage shelving and I couldn't topple them.

        • @leTintin:

Are they bolted to the floor or wall? I was shaking the demo one at Bunnings and it didn't inspire me with confidence!

      • Not many climbing kids in warehouses

    • -2

kids coming in and climbing the shelves and toppling them

How many kids do you have - don't they die when that happens?

      • They'll die if I buy these shelves and do that! It is just a fear.

  • Yay, been waiting for decent price garage storage for a while. Hope there are some left tomorrow…

  • How to check for stock availability? I don't wanna call

    • Impossible without a phone call! But a Bunnings staff member can check easily. I really wish you could check stock levels online!

I notice you can do this with IKEA website. C'mon Bunnings save us time and petrol!

      • If you have the F/L number you can ring and check…

Annoyingly, staff can check in store !!

    • My local had tons of them, didn't even seem to be a "sale"…

  • Just been to one in balcatta, WA. All I could find were bunch of Romak brand. No Montogomery. :(

    • +2

These are "promotional" stocks. Should be near register or entry area of the bunnings, not in usual storage aisles.

      • Thanks mate. Grabbed one after checking back promotional area. ;)

    • +1

Plenty in stock near the entrance at Morley, WA. Picked up two of these and one of the smaller $39 ones with 4 shelves. They have one of each on display so you can see the build quality.

  • Great product but i had to shave the paint away from the pins to get them to interlock. Need a rubber pound hammer to or you may deform the metal when putting it in place.

    • +1

I just tapped them in with a Phillips head and hammer.

    • they are all like that….

  • I had to ask a guy there about them, he said they'd just come in, so went out the back and brought a pallet out to the front of the isle where Romak shelves are

    • I called up my local store and they said they got no room to put it so they won't bring it out till next week…. Bastards…

      • Call every day!!

If you're in there, find someone that looks friendly and ask for one ;)

        • I did pop in on my way home from work, and asked a "friendly" guy, he said he could get some down for me for tomorrow (they are not allowed to lift down from top shelf when store is open apparently). Either way I ended up driving to the next closest store and picked up 2 and 1 of the smaller one for 39.

  • I had loaded up my trolley with Romak shelves yesterday when i saw these out the front of my local Bunnings so for the price of 1 Romak bought 2 of these

Initial impressions they seem to be little more flimsy than the than the Romak ones although one of the leaflets in there mentioned the usual instructions\ warnings and it was titled Romak so looks like the same company

    • flimsy in what way? When I gave them a shake they didn't seem too good. the shelves also easily pop out. Maybe the demo unit was hastily constructed, I dunno.

  • Got at least 10-20 on the floor at Port Melbourne, Vic

  • Thanks, just got two. None at the Canon Hill store had to drive to Manly West where they had heaps.

  • +3

On the box it says rated for 140kg per shelf not 150kg as stated on the website. So be careful guys ;)

  • Pretty much the same as the Romak, perhaps the steel is a slightly lower gauge and the MDF isn't quite as good. Once it's assembled, they're non-issues. The shelving unit is MUCH bigger in-situ than I expected; win!

  • Springvale bunnings just took them out after I asked. They are promo stock so they are near the special order desk. Full pallet this morning.

  • +1

Plenty of stock at Maitland. 20 boxes still. Also have other sizes too. 1830x1500x410 for $79. Again plenty of stock in those too - 30+. And lastly there is 4 shelf 1830x910x410 for $39.

  • Around north shore of sydney, thornleigh no stock, 7 left in gordon.

  • Just wondering what the exact width of these are when assembled.
I have a spot for one of these, but it is exactly 1200mm wide, but I am sure they will be a couple of centimetres wider than 1200mm.

    • 1201mm wide
1205mm wide with rubber feet on

measured with a kmart tape measure ^_^

      • Thanks!
I asked because I have a Geelong brand 1200mm wide shelf which is 1215mm when built…measured with a Stanley steel tape measure…!

  • 34 left @ Parafield SA
They're out the back. Can order them from the service desk
They'll be out on display next week

  • I'm wondering why the shelving unit only gets 2 stars in its reviews…

  • I set up 3 today and also have a few Romaks. The only real difference are the Romaks have better and more secure cardboard/wooden planks. The Montgomery are sturdy enough and far better value, but the Romaks are better if you're being picky. Romak is also black and Montgomery is dark grey.

  • Anyone used their powerpass on this? What was the difference?

    • +1

Trade gets you 5 percent off these units

      • Cheers. I forgot to scan it on the 8 shelves. Missed out on $20. On the phone they said I could get a credit for it but in store they said they couldn't. No huge drama.

        • They don't like to do it but they actually can. You basically do a return and re-buy with the trade applied.

  • yer These aren't really a deal but they are a really good a fantastic buy, My local Bunnings has pallets of these shelves….

    Might have to get some.

Dont compare them to the Romaks, these are very thin flimsy metal brackets and the mdf is cheap crap.

  • +1

Ok so I just built my 2 small shelves and for those still wondering :

    • Yes, not as good quality as Romak. The previous sales for $39 for the Romak 5 shelf is way better.
    • The metal used on the Montgomery is soft and bendy.
    • The Romak shelves have a middle brace across the centre of each shelf providing strength and rigidity. Montgomery does not.
    • The Romak MDF planks are much better quality and sealed/varnished. I left the Montgomery planks out in the sun whilst I built the frame and two of the planks had convexed.
    • The 4 shelf version I bought joins the vertical posts with a pin (like Romak) but also a small joining plate which is required because the metal used is so soft. Unfortunately this means you cannot put a shelf exactly in the middle because of these joins.
    • +1

The Romak shelves have a middle brace across the centre of each shelf

The one in the pic shows the Montgomery does too?
      https://2ecffd01e1ab3e9383f0-07db7b9624bbdf022e3b5395236d5cf…

      • Oh maybe it's because I have the 4 shelf one…

      • OldBugger's right. This one does have a center brace. I just assembled it yesterday.

        • I assembled the 1800 one it comes with 2 center brace and the MDF also better on the 1800 model.
