Errrrr… It comes with a 3yr warranty…. 2 years more than most tvs out there!

      • +30

Why let logic & commonsense get in the way of good old fashioned brand snobbery…

        • +7

          Oh dear. Clueless.

    • -1

      Lmao

  • +1

Still waiting for the 7 series to drop a little

    • +1

Isn't this just an bios flash away from being a series 7?

      • Doesn't have wide colour. Plus this model is quite chunky/heavy

      • +4

Flashing the European firmware gives you HDR over HDMI, but you are still missing the "ULED" stuff - quantum dots, local dimming etc. Those are hardware related so they can't be flashed.

        • Different brightness/contrast too. That said i setup one of these for gf parents and its very good considering price.

  • +2

Pretty sure the same TV has been at GG for $795 since Boxing Day???

  • +6
    • Is this deal still valid?

  • +1

    amazing username from the OP

  • +6

Have this TV, Love it. Can also be bios flashed to give it HDR.

    • +1

Yep. Bought it a couple of months ago. No regrets what so ever. I love that the controller has a Netflix/YouTube button. There are some settings you can find online to make the screen look really good.

      • Care to post a link for the settings you talk of ?

        • +2

Fairly sure these are the settings I used. All credit to Nobbler on avforums. https://www.avforums.com/threads/hisense-55-m3300.2028817/pa…

        • @senzuri:

          thanks great !

  • Can u install plex?

    • Plex is on android Tvs. Try Sony.

      • id think they are on most main stream tvs, my samsung has it, i had to install it form the apps store buts its awsome…..

        • Yup plex is on 4 of my Samsung tvs

    • The 7000 series comes with it already installed.

    • For what it's worth my Hisense can install Plex through the Opera App store which apparently runs on the OS of Hisense.

      • Can you install KODI then? Why stay with Plex if you can Kodi

        • Kodi sucks. Too hard to install even and get working. Plex forked from kodi:xmbc and thank god. Plex is for end users not techies.

        • +2

          @T1OOO:
I'm not super geek and even I got it going.
Watch this from 27min mark for easy setup.
          Easy as https://youtu.be/nr5Mz2Yci4c

        • @Regie69:

so basically i needed it for a WMC replacement, that was easy to set up.

This was difficult 50 options to chose from for a server ect…. and then never worked withthe client.

    • Buy the Xiaomi MiBox from the other deal and it will run via Android.

      • -3

why? th whole point is to have 1 device thats integrated and easy to use, 2 devices makes it counter productive, i love my samsung 2013 model for this that i have in my gym.

        • +3

True ozbargainers buy a good panel such as Hisense or Bauhn then add the smart part via an Android TV media player. $800 + $100 is less than half what normies pay for the same end result in a name brand TV such as LG or Sony.

        • @goingDHfast:

nah, i value for money and life style, not the "cheapest" option, i wan a bargain on something good mate that makes my life easier and happier.

        • +2

Because you get more and faster updates, much faster than built in smart TV, you are not locked in to an ecosystem. (apple TV, roku, Chromecast, Android TV, Amazon Fire and many more). Airplay or casting facility and many more.

        • +1

          @praga:

its all about the user experience im afraid though, id sacrifice all those options just for one device and not having to click on multiple things…. life should be easy.

        • +1

trust me, i wanted to have 1 device and everything but the smart TV performance on this TV is sluggish. you will want to have a dedicated media box that performs it's core function 100x better than what the TV can do.

        • @rogr:

well my 2013 dual core samsumg 32" plays 1080p 4gb tv shows and 10gb movies fine, even transcoding down 4k on to it works fine…

i will get a 4core tv next just to be safe though.

        • @T1OOO: is it running off of samsung's own smart TV OS?

        • @rogr:

yeah… hang on, i mean i had to go to the app store and install plex first, but its ecosystem.

        • @T1OOO: As long as your TV supports hdmi cec you could use your TV remote to control the device. That is the beauty of these devices.

        • @praga:

My tvs old looking at buying a new one. Might do more reeearch into that device though.

  • +6

I reckon you're better off with the sony from JB at 899, 49 inch with everything mentioned plus HDR

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

    • +8

I agree, you're better off buying a smaller TV that costs more😯

      • +4

Better brand with HDR for only 100 more, Hisense is pretty average and doesnt compare to Sony

        • +1

          Only $100 more.

But smaller size. 55" vs 49" to the Sony

        • +2

That particular Sony has HDR but also a poor colour gamut and black levels. This TV actually does better all round.

        • +3

Having used the Hisense i beg to differ! It is quite good.

        • +1

Hisense has come a long way. They're very good Tvs these days - check out the reviews.

        • +1

PS You can get the same type of HDR as that sony tv from a firmware update.

        • +1

@westhaus: HDR through a firmware update tips it in Hisense's favor, I've got no problem with Hisense just Much prefer Sony as a brand

      • +2

        Size trumps everything?

      • +10

1 yr Sony warranty vs 3 hiensense yrs warranty

    • -7

I agree. Been a victim of this brand :( Useless tv when compared to Sony, LG and Samsung

  • +1

If this doesn't have wide colour gamut when it has HDR then HDR is pretty much rendered moot.

    • +3

Not a lot of HDR content any way makes it moot.

      • -1

True and not true. Will be more in the coming years. Had same when I got my Sony TV years ago it was about a year or so before heaps more 1080p stuff became mainstream. Depends if one wants their tv to last.

        • +1

i know of one, marco polo, no idea what the show is about though.

        • @T1OOO: dunno hh. Yeah there are a few more on Netflix and I think grand tour on Amazon is HDR too. Plus 4K blue ray too, slowly but surely aye.

        • +1

          @T1OOO:

          It's a show about Marco Polo :-)

          Good show

        • @brentsbits:

well i should be getting wifi 50mbit soon in the new year, so i should be able to stream 4k, might be worth upgrading the tv to 10bit and HDR. But i still dont see a perfect tv for a good price, every one has someothing that could be better, so yeah tv manufacturers need to lift their game!

        • @T1OOO: I have the sony x8000d coming check Rtings.com. Nails most of what's needed with HDR and the wide colour gamut. Fairly cheap too.

  • question: HDR?? For free-to-air tv what benefit HDR provides?
How hard is flashing firmware and where to download from?

    • +2

Nothing as FTA is not transmitted in HDR.

      • +2

None. There ia SFA HDR content anywhere.

  • +1

the smart TV apps on this are slow and buggy especially the plex one. you're better off pairing it with a media player. you can flash the firmware but do it at your own risk. you need to download the french or italian version from hisense and follow the instructions.

FWIW i bought the 50 inch version about two months ago for the same price from JB. FFS.

  • -4

The deal is not the cheapest available. Available cheaper at TGG.

    • -1

Not a reason to neg. OP never claimed it was the cheapest and JB Hi-Fi might be a more convenient option than TGG for some buyers.

      • +1

And yeah pretty sure JB will match that $3.

      • +5

According to the voting guidelines it is: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

Since when did this become Oz-SortofBargain…

        • +5

It may be within the guidelines but it's not in the spirit of OzBargain. Mr Neg could have taken the time to properly post the $3 cheaper TGG deal for the good of us all but he couldn't be bothered - in fact he's never bothered posting a deal.

        • +4

          @Chateau:

          Exactly
Invalid use of a neg vote in my eyes, mods can think what they like tbh
over 3 dollars I think its pathetic but unfortunately this the way ozbargain has become lately
"new" users whinging over $3 which will be beaten and priced matched NOT A PROBLEM

Thanks OP for actually taking the time to produce a deal unlike the idiotic neggers

        • -1

Neg Away clowns, couldn't care less, whatever makes you sleep better at night tbh
The OP deal can be priced match so its a "moot point" but hey feel free to continue your immaturity

        • +2

Except you WILL be able to get it for the cheapest price. Are you seriously telling me that if you went into JB they won't price match $3? It's pretty much a guarantee for an $800 item.

You guys must be fun at parties.

        • -1

@Chateau: :the spirit" get a grip

        • @Chef-Johnson: Sorry, my bad. I forgot that online communities have no spirit or a sense of camaraderie among them.

      • Where can I find an updated copy of the valid reasons to neg? The one here says to use negative votes if there's a cheaper price elsewhere.

        • -1

          Here's an idea:

How about concentrating your energy on being productive member of the OzBargain community instead of looking for excuses to neg the efforts of other members? You could even try posting a deal.

    • +10

You seem to like negging deals, but you've never actually posted anything yourself. TGG is about 0.3% cheaper, but like Chateau said, JB might be a lot more convenient for some people. Not worth a neg.

      • Shouldn't this link be added to the other deal then? It shouldn't have it's own deal if it's not the cheapest.

        • +1

I don't think so, they're two separate deals from two different retailers. $3 difference for an $800 spend. I know everyone is different, but if I was buying this tv I would be picking it up instore, and my local JB is closer and far more convenient than my local Good Guys. The $3 saving wouldn't be worth the hassle for me.

      • +2

Ad hominem much? Its not the cheapest deal and deserves the neg. Funny how people will neg eggs that are caged but won't neg a deal for not being the cheapest. Are we not on ozbargain? The fact that jb "might" be more convenient for some people shouldn't matter either.

        • +4

The deal can be priced matched, so it evenely is the cheapest price
JB isn't going to lose business over 3 dollars to the savvy users of ozbargain is it

The whole point of this site is to get the cheapest price, it takes 2 minutes of showing a sales rep a link or better deal to price matching an item

I bought an LG 55 inch recently for 980, JB had it for 1149, wouldn't move on price, walked into the good guys, showed the videopro link, instantly reduced the price, a week later JB follow suit (same parent company btw) and its still not the cheapest price when you factor in Video Pro who still sell the unit

thats the best part about choice, price matching takes less than 2 minutes in most cases and I can assure you eggs vs a TV isn't really in the same catergory

        • The ozbargain voting guidelines allowed for this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284780 to occur. Over 50 upvotes for a Chinese phone with virtually no warranty being sold at $300 above the manufacturers retail price. Bargain? God no. Ozbargain? Yes, because it was 1.5% cheaper than two other outlets and theres a stock shortage (intentional stock shortage by Xiaomi).

        • So why haven't you negged?

      • Not worth the petrol traveling to ttg as jbhi fi is closer.

  • +1

Bought similar model in 50" May last year for 650. Amazed with the sound and display. The quality and the sound is so good. Guests coming at my place always ask about this product. 3 years in house warranty makes it even better. 5 stars

  • how and where do you get the firmware for HDR?

  • +25

Hisense are looking to take over both Sony and Samsung with the newest Series 7 release. I dare say Sony and Samsung are worried and will have to get their act together if they still want to lead the Market.

Hisense have spent a Huge amount of money on their new home grown patented technology called Uled with HDR standard which leaves normal led panels for dead. I have enclosed a link that actually differentiates between Uled and Oled. It can get very confusing so do your homework before making your final decision.

I Like the Hisense range and I will be soon be purchasing the Series 7 Hisencse 65" ULED UHD TV.

Having a 3 year in home Warranty as well…it is really a no brainer right.

Hey don't take my word for it, Check out some of the independent reviews out there:-

    http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/hisense/series-7-uled-4…

    https://hisense.com.au/blog/oled-vs-uled-tv-technology-expla…

    http://eftm.com.au/2016/08/hard-to-resist-the-hisense-55-ser…

    Hope this helps anyway

    • +1

Great comment, have an upvote. This would be an amazing TV if it ran Android TV OS. Any idea why Hisense doesn't use android and cut development costs even further?

      • +6

No Idea to be honest. Hisense have been around for about seven years now and I just love their picture quality. You are getting top quality for a lot less. A lot of people disregard Hisense. Its a bit like the Hyundai cars when they first hit the Australian Roads. Pretend there is no Manufacturing Labels and have a look at the picture, reviews and specs and you decide what suits you best.

    • +2

I just recently purchased the 70in series 7 as it was a great price and couldn't pass it up. I had them next to LG, Sony's and Samsung's. This thing blows them out of the water. Unless it went up against a 9000 series Samsung or LG OLED, imagine it would have it's work cut out for it. But when you consider the price, this is a no brainer. The motion blur tech in this screen is amazing, I came from a Plasma and I could notice it alot on LCD's. Very happy with my purchase.

Also I calibrated the screen with the settings through AV forums, who also rate it quite highly.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wmHxIvL97I

That's the youtube link for calibrating the screen when you make your purchase.

      • +1

        Great Price was….?

    • I Like the Hisense range and I will be soon be purchasing the Series 7 Hisencse 65" ULED UHD TV.

Sounds good but looks pricey at $3,499

  • +3

I bought one of these at the last 20% off sale and couldn't be happier with every aspect of it.

Plus I found a great feature that makes gunshots and other bangs less loud while not affecting any other sound. Great for watching at night. It's probably not a new thing but I was happy to find it.

$798 for this TV. Definitely a bargain
