  • what kind of GPU can you throw into this considering it's only got a 180W power supply?

    • not a very powerful one I imagine :P I wouldn't say this is a candidate for a gaming PC but would be good for normal youtube, web browsing, office, etc

      • That i7 6700 is pretty overkill for normal office use. You could get away with a Pentium / i3 for that.

It would be an excellent gaming CPU but 180kw will essentially stop you from using any sort of GPU suitable for gaming unfortunately. Plus it looks to be SFF which means the cards will have to also be very small.

        • Looks like you can upgrade it, using an adapter cable. See details here; https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/M700…

This would be a better deal without the monitor though.

        • I reckon the newly released "MSI GTX 1050ti 4GB low profile" will transform this machine into a suitable mid-range gaming pc. Runs off PCIe header power. ;)

          https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA/66…

        • @goose25: I wouldn't trust it. The 1050ti officially requires a 300W power supply, while this machine is only rated to 180w. It might work, but I got a decent secondhand gaming rig with ample power supply for $300, and replaced the GPU. Pretty much any desktop i7 should be enough for gaming, though I'd recommend at least a 2600. The 2600 is four generations old but isn't too far off the performance of this new flash machine. See e.g. http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/426/Intel_Core_i7_i7-2600_v…

        • @goose25: The specs say that each lane can output 45W max. I wouldn't dare try running that thing on that PSU especially with those ratings.

        • @potplanty: Haha, guess that I'll retract that statement, and also agree that This PC shouldn't be used for gaming :P

  • Seems pretty good value overall, I've been contemplating building a SFF desktop for the wife, the only thing this is really lacking is builtin wifi and an SSD drive. Build I came up with was around 750 using a similar sized case and the missing features I stated before. However my build only uses an i3 6100 instead of the beast of an i7 and that still came out at around 750 without a monitor included.

    • Yeah i7 sold me. Plus the fact I can be lazy and not have to pick parts lol

Edit: you can buy a USB wifi dongle for about $30

      • Lack of a SSD is a big downer, if I buy this I will still have to spend another $100 on a 250~gb SSD, even so this is very tempting with the included monitor.

It absolutely makes no sense i7 6700 without decent graphics card and even no option to add graphic card makes it one of stupid configuration

    • It was not meant to be a gaming rig

      • You r right , you do need i7 6700 for web browsing and utube LoL

        • No, it just meant to be faster in use, opening multiple tabs or having multiple programs is what having an i7 is good for

  • Is this the same deal as previous sale?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/274296

Anyone know if you can swap out the power supply and add a graphics card?

    • In a new case, your local pc shop prob sell you an old one for $5.

  • No WiFi !!!

FYI, a Dell refurb i7 costs $349 posted.
The 3770 CPU is 5 years old, but has 90% the benchmark score of the i7-6700 .

    Whatever happened to Moore's Law?

    • Experts show that computers should reach physical limits of Moore's law sometime in the 2020s. When that happens, computer scientists can examine entirely new ways of creating computers.

    • Moore's law refers to number of transistors not clock speed.

there was a good video on this on LTT not long ago, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy1M0jkRWWk
basically they show u benchmarks of every gen's intel CPUs from the past 10 years side by side. sobering

    • Hi,

Just asking if this is a good machine to run games like LOL, WOW.
Since it lacks good graphic card and possible no or small fan because of the small case.
      I mean the dell one.
      Thanks.

    • Eh, intel CPUs haven't really moved that much since the Sandy Bridge generation (the gen just before the 3770 ivy bridge) either due to physical limits, intel's focus on power / efficiency over brute power, lack of competition from AMD or a combination of all of the above.

  • Anyone know if this has spare SATA ports for the SSD?

    • Bay - Internal bay: 1 x 3.5", 1 x 5.25", optional 1 x 2.5"

Says it has spare for a 2.5" plus the H110 chipset can support 4x 6Gb/s SATA connections by default.

  • Will this be good to run VMware ESX?

  • Anyone know the exact monitor?

    • Samsung E390 21.5"

  • Anyone knows if this is good foe games like LOL? Thanks.
