This would be close to the best price I've seen I think. I still prefer to use companies like myprotein ($80/5kg) or Bulk Nutrients ($100/5kg).

    • Would definitely second this, if you want price MP or a local company BN.

    • +7

just swapped to Bulk Nutrients from Gold Standard and couldn't be happier. Taste is excellent, aussie company win win! Super quick shipping too.

      • BN price never changes \o/

      • They regularly lab test their protein and post the results which is a big plus for me

      • Can +1 switched from this to BN. Cheap and good customer service.

    • Bulk Nutrients is $149 for 5kg WPI from what I can see. Am I missing something?

      • +2

Yeah the 5kg WPC for $99. FYI gold standard isn't a WPI.

        • ah yes. gold standard is a blend.

      • Bought 5kg of BN wpc… Not too impressed. The mixability and some flavours are average.

    • I made a mistake buying from myprotein, as their flavours are far inferior to BN. Learnt my lesson with 5kg protein and barely drinkable glutamine and creatine

  • +2

That is a pretty good deal, probably best I remember. Thanks!

Oh no, the site doesn't seem to let me choose the size in firefox… so i am stuck…

After buying fake protein from NoBullSupplements (which was bull), I stick to the tried & true brands

    • How do you know it was "fake"?

      • +11

Because independent testing verified that what they were selling as whey protein isolate was in fact 50% carbs & 50% skim milk powder.

        • +1

The Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey I bought from last deal had the consistency of milk powder.

Also, my last Dymatize 100% natural Whey (Vanilla flavour) had the same consistency as milk powder.
The chocolate seems 'finer' and not like milk powder.

Bloody mungrels NoBull Supplements are though.

        • +7

          @malouphix:

NBS are absolute dogs I had my shipment tested by NMI when I found out about the protein debacle and was mostly milk powder and not the 90+ protein claims. Talked to their Rep who I believe was also the owner and he stopped responding to me and paypal payment was outside the complaint period so I couldn't get my money back.
          AVOID their asses.

        • @KBZ:

Yeah this was a few years ago. I recall them suing websites that wouldn't remove the allegations against them as well.

        • +2

          @Circly:
Threatening to sue. ausbb had a big thread then it got removed. Can't believe they caved, it's been a few years but it was more than one batch that was tainted and they lied about it. I know I sound salty but just dishonesty and fobbing you off like that puts a bad taste in my mouth. BN, ON and more all the way.

        • @KBZ:

Dodgy. They covered it up pretty well.

        • @malouphix:

Can we confirm Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% is legit? I have used it for months and love it…

        • @Rocket6: I'd assume it's legit. They seem to be highly regarded and trusted.

It's just the first time I used it I was thinking this looks and feels so much like milk powder, then this thread prompted my previous thought regarding milk powder and protein supplements.

    • +1

Same. I also had bad experience after buying no bull. Didn't taste like WPI and… it bloody clumped like no tomorrow. Milk, water, whatever. Couldn't mix it by shaking. Had to blend it which is a first for me with WPI. Complained to them and they basically just told me to add more liquid and shake thoroughly. LOL

      • +3

4-5 years ago NBS had a different name, not sure exactly but they changed their name (company went bankrupt) so they don't get prosecuted. I had won this competition they had and the prize was a $200 voucher that can be used at a web site that offered experiences like jumping off a plane, driving a sports car etc.
However the voucher wasn't showing up so I called the owner of the business(they are two brothers) and was told to wait a few more days it will surely arrive.
As there was no sign of the voucher, I gave the website a call (really can't remember of the name… red something)
and explained the whole situation. Their response was that the owner of the company has purchased a voucher but they didn't have my address but someone else's address and there was no mistake.
I got back in touch with one of the owners of the company (i think it was Rick) and they claimed the website had stuffed up the whole shipping process of the voucher. I then asked if they could send me out supplements in the value of the voucher to which they agreed to.
It took a few days but I did get the supplements, and to my surprise instead of WPC they had put in a few bags of WPI.
I thought they had done it by mistake, but why would i want WPC instead of WPI so i kept them instead of asking for a replacement.
A few months after I had ran out of protein and needed to order more but their website/FB/phone was not working anymore so after a bit of research I found out about Bulk Nutrients. As I hadn't heard of the name before I did a bit of research, and in the Whirpool forums I came across a post about NBS, how their protein wasn't as good as BN's protein, many people were complaining.
And there you have it, an ex employee had posted that instead of WPI they packed SKIM MILK POWDER in the bags. Straight away it made sense that it was no mistake of them sending me WPI as it had nothing to do with protein.
That's my experience with NBS, a realy bad one.
One more thing just my 2 cents on myprotein. Stay away from them or buy unflavoured. The WPC flavour is not that great 5/10 but the supplement flavours are HORRID. Overly sweet, synthetic, soapy. I did order from them a few days ago as they have a first time buyers offer for 25% off, but not happy with the purchase.
Next time I buy any protein it's either BN or heavily discounted Optimum Nutrition.

    • -1

as long as u are making gainz then i dont see a problem here? but yea supplements are scam, food> supplement any day

      • +3

The problem is that if you buy protein, you expect it to be protein.

        • -4

yes that is true but all protein will not be 100% pure as that will be impossible, i know for chocolate protein they remove some of the protein out to add coco powder so they can maintain the flavour and weight of compared to the other ones. i have never yet got a bag of bad protein but then again i have gotten my protein not stolen conwisdently it was ON gold standard whey. LOL

        • +11

@alexae86: NBS weren't selling 100% protein. They were selling 93% (If I remember right) but providing 50%. You know who else cuts their product like that? Crack dealers.

        • @Morien: Pablo Escobar would have shot them in the face.

  • can the $5 referrer coupon be applied to the discounted price (ie. $5 off $127.16)?

    • nope, only one coupon can be used at a time

  • Can attest. Extreme milk choc is the best flavor. I've tried cookies and cream and double choc. Extreme milk choc wins by a large margin.

I always prepare my protein shake with either just milk, or with milk and banana. Can't attest to flavors when mixed with water.

    EDIT:

Also, super cheap! My last order was $158 for the same size, and I thought that was cheap!

  • Bought one. Thank you.

  • +1

Great price, I personally like the double choc as much as the milk chocolate but from what I've heard stay away from the strawberry flavour!

  • Excellent price but I just bought a bunch of this stuff during boxing day sales! Might have to wait for the next deal.

  • -1

This is terrible when mixed with just water on it's own. You MUST use milk otherwise it's terrible. If you want one that doesn't require using milk, get MyProtein (Mint Chocolate is my favourite), or BulkNutrients (Salted Caramel isn't bad). I'm going to finish my current 10LB one and use MyProtein from now on just based on the fact that it's not as enticing flavour wise. Also the carbohydrates amount to 12G per 100G which isn't much, but other options give you like 1.9G (MyProtein) and 2.3G (BulkNutrients) from experience.

    • +1

I didn't see which flavour you tried it with water, but I always have my choc flavoured Gold Standard with water and it's still pretty good. Easy to mix, and easy to take down. Guess it's personal preference.

Then again, don't do strawberry with water, that is terrible! Haha.

      • I used Cookies and Cream. Still got like 2KG left -.-

      • +2

+1 I do the optimum nutrition with water and its bearable.

    • who has protein with water anyways? ew

      • +1

Not everyone carries milk with them when going to the gym :p.

        • +1

Put protein powder and milk powder in shaker before going to gym, add water while in gym, drink soon afterwards.

      • +7

When you actually start lifting you don't care what you mix it with you just throw it down the hatch in literally 2 seconds. Stop worrying about the taste and get the job done, princess.

        • +1

Yeah… Some people discuss protein flavours like it's single malt scotch

      • +5

I drink it with water, I mean it's not amazing but I don't mind it.

      • +2

I have BN with water. Decent taste.

        • Which BN flavour do u prefer? I always have ON with water so want something comparable

        • +1

@Slo20: I usually have vanilla or strawberry. Others like banana or salted caramel don't taste too bad but I get tired of the flavour halfway of the bag, so I prefer to stick with Vanilla and Strawberry.

    • +5

You have no idea what terrible is, go n try pea protein with anything, then report back.

      • +2

        I'm already put off.

      • +2

Bought 5kg of pea protein in the past, huge mistake. Ended up just chucking all of it in the bin.

        • +5

Could have donated it to a homeless vegan.

        • +1

          @malouphix: Haha, I don't even think a homeless vegan could've eaten/drunk that sludge.

      • You obviously haven't tried rice protein :|

      • +1

I might be the odd one out. I actually quite like the pea protein!
Taste is better than 1/2 the milk powder that's out there. (And cheaper than this stuff)

    • I tried Salted Caramel from BN and it tasted more like vanilla if anything

    • +1

I am going to disagree with this.

I love my Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Vanilla. LOVE it with water.

I have heard the cookies and cream is average, though..

  • Used the coupon to buy serious mass for $69, selling for nearly double the price at Mr Vitamins & same size.

    • What do you think of Serious mass? Seen results?

      • +5

Honestly, just get whey and add proper food to it like bananas, peanut butter, honey, oats. Mass gainers are a waste of money.

      • get a 20$ coffee grinder and grind oats for 20 seconds and dump them in with your shake.

      • +2

It's on par with Weight Gain 4000. Beefcake, kick ass!

      • Just go on a cruise ship for a week.. enjoyable bulking :)

      • +1

Extreme hard gainer here. Been taking it for the past 6 months and I've seen pretty good results. I went from 49kg (underweight AF) to 62kg. A lot of that is probably fat though since my stomach is also beginning to stick out. I take it with milk so that makes things worse.. but honestly I don't even mind since I was just bones before. I bought the Chocolate flavour and it tastes amazing, haven't tried any other flavour though.

        • +1

How many do you have a day? Pretty significant gain in 6 months.

        • @GearUp: Must be beginner gains ;)

I have one scoop only on the days that I workout, which is every second day. I don't take it on the day that I skip. They recommend that you take 2 scoops in a day but there's no way I can do that haha. I take it around 2 hours before I go to bed if that makes any difference.

    • Serious Mass is 2/3 carbs; these are two completely different products.

Each serve of SM is THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY GRAMS, with 250gm of carbs per serving.

    • Serious mass just adds a tonne of filler carbohydrates which give you "mass" A.K.A. fat deposits. Especially if you're already eating carbohydrates outside of supplementation and if it's not within your macro range.

  • annoying that BN has changed from NZ whey to other locations… i guess it's a "money saving" tactic..

    • Yep kept the same price too.

      • -1

        myprotein uses NZ Whey

        • why is this comment negged? is it not nz whey?

  • Re-supplied my casein with this code! Thanks OP!!

  • I get my WPI from All Foods Online on eBay ($105 for 4 kgs delivered). The only one I've tried so far with water that's easy on my stomach! Anyone else using this? Just wondering how it compares to what OP has posted.

  • +2

Dont recommend buying ON whey 100% gold from Amino z. Prices are pretty cheap compared to other online store but the ones i bought few months back tasted like crap. There's a bitter taste when mixed with water only. Ive had the same product in the past and they never tasted like that.

I have a feeling they repackage returned products with their own seal and resell at lower price to get rid of it.

The powder should be really fine but yhey were not. Anybody have similar experience?

    • +3

that's a pretty big accusation to make. I highly doubt it. but who knows.
but I have order ON and I had to wait as it was on backorder as they were getting new stock.
they have a large turn around thus probably get it cheaper. plus you usually don't buy one thing when making an order thus making their money that way.

      • Im not sure what they do with products returned via 2 scoop policy?

      • Concur with porsche26c here, I order from them and often have to wait for new stock.

I have never had a problem with them?

    • Hi johnybravo2468,

I constantly shop at aminoz, they are a great company and they use fastway as their postage company. If you live in metro areas, you usually get your package within 2 business days!

    • +3

Fastway are pretty horrible though. I'd prefer Australia post over them

  • has anyone used INC?
    http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/74332/INC-100-WPI-Van…

New Zealand brand wpi for $75

  • Sadly I already went and bought some at Sups R Us but you can't deny that choc mint flavor (y)

  • +2

Good deal. Still got 10lbs of whey and 10lbs of mass gainer sitting in their boxes. Might buy some creatine and pre-workout with this code though. Cheers OP. I also buy most of my things from Amino Z. Nothing but fantastic service and fast delivery from them. Definitely recommend.

  • +1

Awesome deal, cheers OP! Managed to grab a 2.27kg bag and an ON pre workout for $99.12, getting me free delivery too woohoo :)

  • I've only ever used Venom, but I've seen ON being popular and BN mentioned in this thread.

How do those two compare to Venom?

    • +3

ON is an American brand. They have way too much reputation to lose to risk having poor quality products.
BN and Venom are both local-branded products.
BulkNutrients advertises themselves to be as good as branded products, one of the original "we are unbranded but good quality" protein companies that sell by the bag.
They got boosted heaps when NoBull supplements got caught out cutting their product's quality.
Venom advertises themselves to be a normal brand but discounts their prices regularly.

BulkNutrients is good as an everyday price.
Optimum Nutrition is only good value when it's on special (like this deal).

  • +3

    Oh there's cashrewards guys..
Can get $2 back if you buy the 10lb one!

  • Signed up for 20% off everything for a new customer.

    Forgot cashrewards :(

  • Annoying order process eg. puts an item in the cart automatically which you must remove, 3 upsell popups, 1 newsletter popup, further nagging about newsletter.

  • +1

IMO both chocolate flavors of ON Gold taste great with milk, but are still nice even with water.

If you want delicious, check out chocolate flavor Syntha-6. You're getting a lot more carbs and fat per serve but it honestly tastes like a milkshake!

    • Love Syntha, but vanilla is horrible, tastes too artificial for me. I'll give choc a go.

  • Just got a email stating they are out of stock of the Extreme Milk Choc in the 10lbs bag….😤

    • it should be on backorder if you dont mind waiting

  • What are your thoughts on Nutrients Direct guys? They have posted a few deals on here before.

  • ON is not an isolate protein.. It's a blend.

  • Syntha-6 is working for me great. Also a bit higher on the calorie side which is what I'm looking for. ON is very decent if looking to do some very intense shredding.

  • Apologies for off topic. For weight loss, I should be getting WPI right (as in from fat to less fat, not fit to fitter)? Any recommendations if this one is a blend?

    • For weight loss you would eat less than necessary to maintain your current body weight.

Type of protein has zero to do with this (and to a high degree, protein is protein is protein). WPI simply has a higher percentage of protein in it, therefore you aren't wasting so many calories on the extra carbs and fat (marginal). So, if you compare 100g of WPI to 100g of WPC, you might have 90g of protein in the former (wasting 10g on c/f) and 80g of protein on the latter (wasting 20g on c/f). Doesn't seem that big of a deal right? Because it isn't.

I suggest you, and all with a similar desire to lose fat, look at http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=129247741 . While not the be all and end all, it was where I had my start, and now that I've 50kg lighter than I once was (and for long enough that 90% of people I know don't believe I was ever overweight) I can vouch for it.
