More importantly, unsuspecting people may jump in and buy stuff without looking around at prices from elsewhere thinking that they are getting a bargain when they are not

well if that's the case they're idiots & deserve to be burnt. It's a stupidity/lazy tax.

I can't believe you or anyone else on here is so outraged. Sure it's annoying, but seriously, like this hasn't happened every single time there's a x% off an ebay store for the past 3 or 4 years?

  • Has anyone checked their paypal statement? After buying a Dyson V8 on the binglee ebay deal the Ebay receipt says it was $679.20 but my paypal statement says $509.40. Seems like they subtracted the 20% twice and in effect it's 40% off. Yet to see the charge on my credit card so I don't know which of the two amounts was actually charged.

    • No bonus discount showing on PayPal for my V6 Slim purchase :(. Could it have been another voucher/credit being applied?

      • Nope. Only 1 EBay discount code is valid at any one time anyway. I'm assuming it's some sort of glitch that they'll catch on and fix soon.

  • Thanks, finally got a Dyson V6 Slim, $288.20 incl $9 delivery to Sunshine Coast. Pity no Click & Collect here like GG, but very happy.

  • +2

They actually didn't jack up the price of the Dyson V6. Bought it for $288.20 delivered. Cheers.

    • +1

They actually didn't jack up the price of the Dyson V6.

Sounds like they forgot about that one lol

      • also the DC37c is still at $400, but went with the stick vacuum instead.

      • They also didn't jack up the Dyson V8 Absolute….. Just the RRP $850 which is what most other places selling it for.
So glad its already dispatched and on the way. I was hoping it wasn't what they quoted on their ebay page when it said end of Feb delivery lol.

    • They didn't jack the price of the Dyson AM09 fans either.

  • +3

Can't bother with this sale. Bing Lee jacked up again.

  • I've got to the checkout page where it asks me to confirm and pay… but still nowhere to enter code for discount. If I click on "add vouchers" it tells me to use Paypal. Can someone please tell me where does the discount code go?

    • +1

Where you did it. You need to use PayPal.

      8. The redemption code requires payment with an Australian PayPal account in order to take effect.

  • Grabbed the 40' hisense for $480. Pretty happy as it's for a bedroom.
FYI Aus firmware has been released for these models to allow HDR via hdmi, making it almost as good as the more expensive model.

Unfortunately it said pickup on/by 4th Feb =/
Has anyone successfully asked and pickedup on the day of purchase?

    • why it is pickup only by 4th, that's stupid. if u got the receipt, u can go store and get it.

      • just called.

'No you have to wait till you get email/sms as we have 500 order per hour'

        • damn… i need to buy my tv quick too then.

      • Its pretty much the same as most other stores which allow Click & Collect.
Its to do with stock allocation so its a first come first serve basis. Not order last and skip the queue by going in store to flash your receipt at the staff. And it avoids their staff being harassed by people saying "wtf, I can see the stock but you won't give it to me!"

        • fair enough. they called late in the evening and it was close enough to pickup.

          happy days!
But looks like my pc doesnt support 4k output. Guess i need to wait for the next ozb PC sale lol

  • +3

My bookmarked dishwasher just vanished from the listing. I guess they could not go any lower.

  • F… you BING

    You jacked the price

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162235026725?_trksid=p2055119.m14…

Less than $3000 yesterday, $3699 today.

    Piss off back to HK

  • +1

My message sent to Bing via EBAY:

I am after the 75" HiSense TV you have in this listing

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162235026725

It was $2999 yesterday before your 20% off "sale" commenced.

Magically just before the sale started the the price rose to $3699.

And now the listing has been removed due to an "error".

For mine this is fraud. At best it's misleading and deceptive.

I don't know why EBAY allow you to do this - its not the first time and I'm sure it wont be the last. I am complaining to both EBAY and the ACCC.

    Care to comment?

    • +2

It's even more annoying when its a paypal/ebay cashback deal (not the store) and theres still jacking. I guess with this they can always say 'it was the sale price listed'

      • +1

        I agree.

PayPal/EBAY are the ones who pay for the majority of the 20% discount - so the retailer shouldnt care.

Bing Lee are just greedy thieves. Now I'd rather buy it for $2999 at the Good Guys every day price than reward Bing for being a c…

        • No, Bing Lee pays at least 10% (sometimes 15%), another Rep that sells on eBay said that in another deal.

        • +1

          @TheClipIt:

ClipIt the rep is full of it. They are just lying to you. It's as simple as that.

EBAY's fees for large merchants like Bing Lee are a small fraction of what they are for small time sellers.

Generally a seller of Bing's size and volume would pay well under 5% of the value of all sales in EBAY fees.

And these promotions are bankrolled by EBAY/PayPal - Bing just pays his normal fees of less than 5% - I know this because I used to work for a major electronics seller who has over 100,000+ feedback in EBAY and used to participate in similar sales on a regular basis.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter:

Bing Lee's reply to my message (credit to them at least they replied quickly, even if the reply is generic scripted shite):

          Hi,

          Thank you for your enquiry.

All price at our eBay store is listed from our head office.
And all price are subject to change any time without notice.

Alternatively you may wish to call on 1300 980 399 to discuss with one of our representative to see if there is any further discount.
Please note there may be different terms and conditions and some promotions via eBay may not apply.

          Thank you.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter: I am not a rep. The other rep claimed that he had to pay 15% of the 20% discount, and larger stores (e.g. Good Guys) only pay 10%.

        • @TheClipIt:
When The Good Guys had their last 20% off discount. I went into the store looking at a TV to buy. They couldn't match the 20% off that their eBay store was offering. The guy at the store said that eBay takes the money we pay (20% discount) and hold onto it for a certain period of time and then releases the full amount of the item to The Good Guys. So eBay in that case were the ones footing the discount. So from what the guy told me, I suspect that eBay hold onto the money for a period of time to obtain some interest from that before handing over the full amount of the item. But that last sentence is my own speculations.

        • @oison: you're probably right, what I said above is just what another Rep said for a difernent store, I don't know myself.

    • So did you complain to EBay and the ACCC?

      • -2

Do you work for Bing Lee CJ?

        • +1

          No

      • I complained to EBAY. I will complain to the ACCC when I get back from my trip in a few weeks.

EBAY responded saying the seler can set their prices to anything they like at any time - in other words EBAY dont give a toss.

        • Complain to bing lee on Facebook. See what they say when exposed in public.

      • Yes to EBAY. Will complain to the ACCC when I am back from my break in a few weeks.

EBAY basically said they don't care - Bing Lee can set whatever price they want, whenever they want.

    • Maybe it was already on sale, so they couldn't discount it further? it's still ~$40 cheaper.
You've been on here for nearly 10 yrs (congrats btw!), surely you expected the price to increase?

  • +1

Moved house on the weekend. Needed a few small electricals. Bing Lee C&C ftw!

    • -3

Tell em how the rest of us feel while you're collecting it lol

      • -3

I dunno, judging from all the posts here on Ozbargain, if you count up all the positive comments vs negative comments. Its like only 5% of them are negative the rest is positive. Still fits within 2 standard deviations at 95% which isn't too bad. haha

And if you take the amount of negative votes vs positive votes thats around 0.024% which is still a pretty good number. 99.97% of ozbargain is happy with this sale. This fits within the 3 standard deviation

Therefore only thing he can pass onto the staff at Bing Lee is that almost everybody on Ozbargain is happy. (maybe except for Motorola…. but i think thats because he got sold a few times over the years and nobody wants to keep them)

      • +1

Very happy with the service. They called me same day to say the stuff was ready to collect. I went over at lunch time today, and they had the stuff at the front counter ready to go.

  • Genuine Philips Sonicare diamondclean replacement toothbrush heads at 20% off. + from me.

  • Awesome..
just grabbed a LG Washer Dryer Combo (WD1409HPW)
they have it listed for $1199 (comparison: good guys currently have it for $1499)
after 20% off it came down to $960

  • +1

looks to be another RRP + 10% then offer 20% off sale Thats a big - from me !

  • Looked forward to this sale. Nice savings. Just a warning with using "add to cart" system on ebay. It is not perfect.

I had 2 items placed in cart with 2 pickup location, warehouse and local store. Somehow ebay failed to apply the 20% to all items. If I did not check i would have just assumed 20% was applied to the whole transaction.

PEOPLE: Check your "subtotal" and "total voucher amount" adds up properly.

In my case, after 1 hr on phone with ebay, they admit fault but will take 1-2week to get funds credited back to my account.

  • Thanks OP. Bought a Dyson V8 absolute. Thanks also for informing in advance about these deals.

  • +2

lol complain to the ACCC you think they will care. Most useless organisation

    • +1

      They fined Kogan millions

    • +3

I tend to agree with your sentiment Lowndes

Australia is full of anti-competitive oligopolies - the big banks being the most obvious.

Then there is the telcos, the power companies, the supermarkets and the big retailers.

Thank god for the likes of Costco and Aldi coming to Australia - otherwise we'd be being raped even harder than we are now….

    • toothless tiger

  • GoPros removed from the store for this sale >:(

    • Nah they were there. Gone now, great price for them so I reckon they sold out. I couldn't get one as they were only click and collect :(

    • GoPro Hero 5 blacks only last for 20-30 minutes on eBay sales.

    • +1

GoPro HERO5 Black Edition is back in stock as of this morning under a new listing FYI, link here.

      • Thanks! Bought one! I was a bit pissed off for a couple of days because they sold out so quickly so I'm glad they are back

  • Thanks OP, picked up a Dyson using the coupon before other Dyson specific deals came up. The store manager was just amazed how many Dyson orders were rolling in…

  • +1

Hi everyone. Long time lurker. First time poster. So I thought I would add in my contribution. Looked for a GoPro HD Hero 5 for my daughters birthday next month. Decided to check on Binglee eBay and was able to buy this morning. Showing in stock. Paid $439.20 and selected pick up from a store
Not too far from me, so happy to drive 15 minutes to pick it up. I had given up when earlier posts said they were sold out but they must have restocked. Happy days.

    Nasty trick

  • For people who have bought already from their ebay store, did you get the receipt via email? Or do you only get the paypal receipt?
I am thinking of buying an item over $300 and see how I can get my GST back when I go travelling later this month.

    • I got a normal bing lee tax invoice with my GoPro

      • Thanks for the information. another quick question, was that via email or did you get it when collecting the GoPro?

        • I got the invoice when I collected. The invoice was processed by the store. It's got the local stores address and phone number at the top. It says nothing relating the eBay on the invoice except showing the eBay promo code

        • @Giugiubear: Thank you!

  • wouldnt be able to get a 55E6T oled out of this sale by any chance ?

Has anyone received their order yet? Bing EBay estimated my order to arrive today on the 6th but when I talked to them on live chat they told me it hasn't even been dispatched!!

    • I made 3 separate transactions on three different dates (first three days). First order arrived on Friday. Second order arrived today. I have received tracking for the third order.
