  • AWESOME!!!!! Been hanging out for this :p Cheers!

Everyone on ozbargain now owns a lenovo product?

    • +3

still got a long way to catchup with Eneloops. :)

      • i use my T460 more frequently than my AA Rainbow Glitter Eneloops, but i love them equally

  • +9

Still waiting for T460S for 1k, come on Lenovo :(. Otherwise if we can get a special Ozbargain/Tightarse coupon on the 710S I might consider that also.

    • +2

Absolutely. I'm after something a bit lighter to take with me daily, otherwise I would be all over this E570 deal. Still tempting though.

      • +1

Me too. The XPs15 for $1399 on the Dell outlet has been tempting me, and it has dedicated GPU. But I'd still rather save money and try Lenovo for a change. Just hope Lenovo can repeat this deal soon.

        • I cannot find the XPS 15 for that price on dell outlet. Link please?

        • @nushydude: none available right now but they pop up. Refurbished 1080p model $1399, 4k model $1899.

        • @nubzy:
I see. How good are these refurbished models? Do you think they have "replaced" any of the original parts like the battery?

        • +2

          @nushydude:
I'd be a bit weary, Bought 2 refurbed laptops mid year 2016. they both…worked out of the box, if you could call it that. one had a faulty keyboard, asdf would work 10% of the time. technicians said it was an existing problem (probably form the previous owner) and were fighting me that it was out of warranty as it was originally sold mid 2015. they eventually sent out a tech that bricked the laptop. 2 months later and I got a refund on one.

the 2nd laptop is going ok now, but came with various messed up drivers…was getting screen glitches that eventually went away.
Not buying refurbished from dell again, barely even got my money back on the 1st one let alone an apology.

        • @nushydude: I'd be willing to take a chance on one. Some people will have issues, but that can happen with brand new products too. They should have been checked over and any necessary parts replaced, so should appear as good as new. If not well i'd ask for a repair or refund.

        • +1

          @nubzy:

I suppose the potential hassle is the real cost of buying one from the Dell outlet.

        • @Aaa1988: the problem is these techs wiggle out of their warranty service. pathetic to say it was built some time in 2015 when warranty shd be from the date you bought it. also the consumer protection law should be in our favour. if only the govt had the gumption to enforce it.

    • +1 for the T460s 1K deal. If it reappears, I'd be the first in line :-)

Clicking on this deal showed on the landing page - "Thin, light, and…" A bit lower down, it's 2.3 kg :-(((

    • +2

Needed an Ultrabook. 710s would be perfect but need to be less than $1k

      • +2

Me too. Special TA/OzB coupon for 1k and i'd bite on the 710S, if they can't repeat the T460S deal.

  • +2

OMG!! Please somebody tell me why I shouldn't buy this before I spend $1000 dollars!!!

    • +13

It's heavy and gpu is mediocre, build quality average. The T460S was a better deal. I'd buy this if it was lighter though.

      • +7

T460S has no dedicated GPU and you're not going to get much better than a 950m at $1000.

        • +2

Yes you are right. But I think it is still fine for photo editing. 950m can't play games that well so no big loss. But for the price this is great, just a bit too heavy and large. I value the long term reliability and build quality, plus portability of the T460S.

      • +2

One good thing about this is the ability for a 2nd hard disk.

The t460s is able to only have the 1 HDD.

        • This looks tempting! $677.00 off!

So with this model, I can add in the second SSD drive from my existing laptop as well?

    • +5

$1000 will get you some tickets overseas. You'll long remember the overseas trip in decades to come than a laptop which will be a paperweight in a couple of years.

      Great flight deals recently too.

      • +1

Yes but on the flip side, a decent laptop will enable you to extend your travels and make money on the road :P. Not to mention it will come in handy for research and photo editing. It is an investment and pretty much a must have these days. I have been without a laptop for a while now and I hate being tied to a desktop or iPad.

    • +3

Because you already have one on your desk?

    • +8

You need to make general repairs on all your property. For each house pay $25. For each hotel pay $100

    • Why would you need 16GB ram with ultramobile weak processor?

    • Thanks all.. I was able to resist temptation.

  • +1

Lenovo is like Coca-Cola - just wait a couple of weeks and a special will appear!

  • Wow! What a deal! If i didn't already have this dell 960m 15 inch laptop, I would totally get this. Its a few hundred cheaper too.

  • Great deal. Any chance of a similar deal on an M700 desktop with similar specs (i7, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, dedicated graphics card and wireless) for around $1000?

  • Does anyone if i can use 0% interest payment plans with this deal?
There is no Option to do that in payment tab, and as a student there is no way i can afford to pay 1k in one go.
    Thanks

    pity it dont have win7

  • +3

    If only this is 12"……

I want a lightweight travel beast….15.6" is simply too big and heavy for me.

  • Excellent timing.. Thanks OP!!

  • Just got mine today from last deal, initial thoughts are its pretty awesome for home use, is a little on the the heavy side if you were to be travelling with it. I do plan on utilising the second hard drive space in the future, and having a user replaceable battery is handy for long term too.

Super fast boot up time on the ssd, haven't tried playing any multimedia yet, but can see some light bleed around edge of screen, hopefully not too noticeable when I play a movie etc.

    • Mine has minor light bleed in the bottom left corner too.

    • Light bleed here too, both bottom left and upper right corners.

Otherwise, awesome laptop for the price imo.

It's a damn site lighter than my old XPS L501X too, didn't realise how heavy that was until I got the 570.

  • Can this laptop drive a 4k display at 60hz? I see it has HDMI, but not sure if it's HDMI 2.0

  • I need to do 3d modeling. How do you compare this to cheap 15in ROG, 6700hq, 8g ram, 1t hdd, 960m 2g about 1400? Please share your comment.

    • you would want to change that hdd to ssd extra $

      • I believe it has a spare M.2 slot, so I can fit a 256gb ssd down the track.

    • I would definitely be looking at a quad core CPU if you're using for more than general use. The i7 7500u is only a dual core (albeit a fast one). Everything else with the ROG apart from the 960m is worse though. I have no idea about 3D modeling but if it's GPU intensive then perhaps look at a 1060? They are considerably faster than a 960m and pretty much the same as the desktop version. They start at around 2k though.

      • I want to get a 960m with 4g graphic memory. Which laptop you recommend with 1060?

  • for later

  • Got any more Yoga deals in the pipeline? :D

  • +1

I'm planning to use this as as a defacto desktop 90% of the time for general use and casual Overwatch play, so i'm not concerned about display issues + build quality.

Could anyone suggest a better value alternative?

  • To those who ordered this laptop previously, how long did it take for it to arrive?

  • Mildly regretting this purchase now. No updates from Lenovo as yet and when I ring them they say "You should hear something by tomorrow", which I get told the following day again.

Has anyone received or had their purchase shipped yet?

    • I ordered mine last Friday, no updates until today. Expected to ship on the 11th so hopefully this is accurate. I used cash rewards too which doesn't seem to have appeared yet either.

      • Similar scenario for me now. They called yesterday arvo and advised it will be shipped today (10th).

      • Cashrewards is now pending, was quickly resolved after messaging tightarse.

    • Ordered on 2nd February, got approved on 6th feb and laptop shipped on 7th feb.. expected delivery date is 14/15th Feb.. so a two week turnaround.. been smooth so far..
