Too bad i'm not with NRMA and I signed up yesterday to get an iphone 4 lol

    • Offer available until 1 August 2010.
  • +1

It seems that you lose the normal bonus data with this offer. You lose the 1GB bonus data for the $49 cap for example.

    • That's not cool

  • Too bad I'm with NRMA.

I missed $167.6 (4.9 x 24 + 50) for getting my iPhone 4 from Vodafone on Friday morning instead of ordering online. :(

  • It's a bit confusing. When you go to the offer it says $450 credit plus 500mb data. When you go and check the cap details, it says $350 credit and 50mb on data!!!

The $50 credit is for customer who join by July 31

When you add an iPhone4 32gb to your cart on a $49 plan, it shows that you only get 50mb of data. If you dig through other pages, it changes between 500mb and 50mb. If you want, you can pay $10/month extra to get 1gb for 12 months, which will cost more than the $5 savings, eg.

    With discount,

    $49/month-10% @ $45/month +
    1gb of data @ $10/month +
    handset fee @ $10/month =
$65/month… giving you 1.05gb of data

    Without discount,

    $49/month +
    handset fee @ $10/month =
$59/month… giving you 1.5gb of data

On the surface, it looks like a good deal, but after digging, I changed my mind. I don't think anyone could survive on 50mb data a month.
    No deal.

    • I agree with you…totally not attractive.
But what I don't understand that it says 500mb at the top but when you dig in to see the terms and conditions it only mentions 50mb!!

    • Vodafone just hasn't updated that info yet, if you go on the Vodafone website without NRMA it still gives you 50mb on $49 cap and $350 credit to use.

    • Dewalt. Good find

Would love to use this as a very valid use of the negative vote - it highlights an issue with this deal that people should consider.

It would appear that Vodafone may have missed a detail in their rush to get this to market. Should this be the case, then your warning may not then be valid, at that point and only then please reconsider your vote.

      Thanks for the detailed discussion.

If someone does find out that Vodafone has made a mistake - eg they make a call and get advice etc, please use the report button to alert the mods so we can alter the vote if necessary.

    • I think its only 500mb…and you do lose the 1gb not worth it seeing 1gb data pack does cost more than 5bucks

I will change my vote to +

I got off the phone to Vodafone. They have assured me that I will get the $50 credit and the 1.5gb of data, and the 10% off. They said that the website was wrong. Woo Hoo!!

      Thanks pkwak - great pickup!

      DeWalt
PS How do I change my vote to a + ???

      • +1

I also just got off the phone w/ Vodafone and they said that "you can only have one offer", so if you use the NRMA offer, you don't get the 1GB bonus.

        • Hi bigsue19,

I must be one of the lucky ones. I got my explicit email confirmation from Vodafone for
          1.5gb of data
          $50 rebate in 3rd or 4th month
          $45 per month fee
$10 per month handset repayment (for the iPhone4 32gb)

I walked Vodafone through the standard deal, spoke to them about the NRMA deal, and they said that they would give me all of the bonuses (inc. the $50 credit, even though I bought the iPhone over the phone).

Now I just need to wait for the iPhone to arrive… They said there would be a 3-5 week wait for delivery.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bumper/case for the iPhone4?

          DeWalt

      • You can't you can delete your vote but you cant re-vote. I have voted positive for you

Vodafone site is stuffed, the 49 IPhone cap says 500 mb, then it says "Also includes 1GB Data for the first 24 months of the contract^. Free Delivery" then at purchase point says "50MB of data for mobile internet3 or Unlimited4 BlackBerry® Email & Internet Browsing + 50MB for data3".

The other caps appear to be stuffed too, I do not to trust whatever telecom sellers say till they put it in writing many were screwed in the past.

  • no wonder voda priced their plans with 1gb as a "bonus" offer instead of just packaging it together. that way u lose it if u try to use any other promo, which im assuming they have heaps tied to companies like nrma

  • The funny thing is if you check the $69 cap it says: Get 1GB of free Mobile Internet Data each month for the first 24 months when you sign up to a $49 Cap Contract or above over 24 months with an Apple® iPhone® 4!^
When you check the $49 cap it doesn't mention anything about the extra 1GB.

  • In the past the NRMA/RAA etc discount has been a genuine discount, ie you havent lost any other value in exchange for the discount.

This smells like a minor error on the website to me.

  • Signed up earlier tonight. Gave up on ordering online and eventually got on to Vodafone by phone. I quoted the NRMA website when the operator said No Discounts, and she went away to check with a supervisor and she came back and confirmed 10% discount off the plan, $50 credit and bonus 1GB data. I didn't have to confirm my NRMA membership. The only downside now is the 3-4 week wait…..

  • well, I dont think you can get the discount when order through telephone. you probably can only get the 10%off and $50 credit when you order online yourself.
As for me I ordered as per order confirmation the $49 Vodafone iPhone Cap - 24 Months $44.10
Apple® iPhone™ 4 32GB Black $10.00 . And as to my knowledge all vodafone iphone cap naturally come with bonus data. (to compete with the optus 2gb on $59 cap).

Also on my email confirmation it states "Your new iPhone™ 4 on our new Massive Value Caps:
Thanks for ordering your iPhone™ 4 with one of our brand new Caps! You now get more value than ever to:

Calls and TXT anyone, on any network here and overseas.
**Get a massive amount of mobile internet data so you can really get the most of out of your new iPhone™ 4.***
Plus FREE calls 24/7 to everyone on both Vodafone and 3 networks in Australia. Hint: Download the exclusive Who2Call app from iTunes to find out who’s on Vodafone and 3!"

  • Currently in an argument with a guy on the phone about even getting the 10% discount! He says he doesn't think any of the NRMA discounts apply to the iphone 4 because it's a brand new phone…

  • Just got off the phone ordering my iphone 4 16gb,

I asked about the 10% and she gave it to me and she confirmed I will still get the bonus data etc

awesome saving over the 24 months :)

  • I have checked today the NRMA site and it says you get 3 months free access when signing up for new vodafone contracts. Has anyone came across that?
When going through the check out on the Vodfaone site, it will only give me a 50$ credit. Not sure if the 3 months access fee will show on the bill after 3 months.

    • ring up and order on the phone

they will put it all in for you,

they didnt even ask me for my nrma member #

and you still get the 1.5gb data

      • Did they give you the $50 credit or the 3 months free access?

  • The 10% off is also valid for RACQ - I ordered an Iphone 4 today and they applied the discount, just no $50 credit or months free access
