LOL…..I know a lot of people who tried bringing this down from Malaysia and got stopped by the custom as it is deemed dangerous. Back home it's really handy as we have mossies every night. And I think it's like $2.50 to get one back home.

    • This runs on 2 AA Batteries and isn't dangerous at all. Australian Customs has approved of this product since August 2007. Simply good fun and gives bugs a fair wack!

    • its BS its available now, when earlier customs pulled me aside and its right confronting, "Do you know this can be used as a taser and is highly illegal, why didn't you declare it?" (!)

      • You may want to check your facts! They are compleatly legal!!! Maybe you are confused!

      • True, because you can dismantle the racket head from the handle exposing the prongs. I also got mine confiscated when I brought one from Malaysia.

On another note, my cousin says that's how one of her friends managed to bring one over.

"Buy 1 get 2, Buy 2 get 4, Buy 4 get 6 You get the picture."

So the more you buy the worse the deal becomes?

    • +1

      Hah, never noticed that.

Who'd want to have 4 bug zappers anyway? Forming a badminton team?

    • -1

Not sure of your logic on that one??? 1 = 10.00 get two they become $5.00 each. No matter how many you buy you still get them at $5.00 each!!! Better still the more you buy, the better the deal on postage becomes. $10.00 flat rate on postage no matter if you buy 1 or 100.

      • He meant you made a mistake in your wording above on the OzBargain deal. You wrote "Buy 4 get 6" you probably meant "Buy 3 get 6"

      • yeh, it should be
        BUY 4 GET 8..

if you're getting 6 only then i'd rather BUY 1 GET 2 in 4 separate transactions

anyway…. i got 2 for my friend last summer.. he wanted them.. lol but i didnt declare it..
        man im lucky!

  • +2

    I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure 4 x 2 = 8, not 6

    • yea, I got confused by that as well, I think he meant "Buy 3 get 6" etc

  • +1

Yah not bad, good up in Townville etc not a lot of use here in Melbourne right now (11c storms)

Geez I wish the "Gifted Man" owner would do something about the logo graphic on the site…..
    amateur, meet awkward…

I see your are here, Gifted Man Rep so no offence in case your kids did it or something :)
How about "I think your site would do better with more professional graphics especially the main logo"

    • All feedback is welcomed. Maybe you have a preference, would love to hear it?

haha i tried to bring one into the country from vietnam awhile back and it got confiscated by Customs because it was deemed to dangerous! NOW I CAN GET ONE! no wait… I CAN GET TWO!!! :D

    • Just go down Victoria street Richmond you can buy anything there.
Seems no import rules apply - even small things like lighter without the safety and obvious copywrite infringement stuff.

      I'm sure they have these.
NB: avoid eye contact with strangers who seem to permanently mistake everyone for their friend Jason.
      (maaaate you chasin'? etc)

    can it kill Cockroach??????????????????????

    • You don't really want to use this to kill bigger insects (cockroaches, dragonflies, etc.)
It will stun them… But most of the time it doesn't have enough juice to kill em. Cockroaches will get stunned and quickly run/fly off… Not wise for panicky ones…

      Note:
Insect limbs tend to get stuck on the metal bits (Imagine roasting chicken and some parts get sticky to the foil), so you need to clean em.

I know some parents who use these to discpline their children…

    • -4

      Ummm…
What exactly are the negative votes for?

      • What do you think?

        • -1

Honestly, I don't know. And no, I'm not trolling.
It's a fact… Some people do use this for that purpose.

          • @[Deactivated]: Apparently it's true, the customs officer that confiscated min said that it was deemed as a weapon because people have used it on pets and little children

      • because a positive would appear that they condone the zapping of small children for disciplinary purposes or for that matter, any purpose.

    • People are probably just negging the fact that you know some parents who use these zappers to discipline children. Poor kids!

      • Well yeah, I don't like the idea either.
And I got the reports directly from the victims.
In adult world it's prolly similar to getting tasered for talking back to police.

  • LOL Also got mine confiscated here on a return trip from Malyasia. Customs said that they confiscate heaps of these everyday especially from flights coming from Asia.
It seems like it happens often enough to people, customs should at least have signs up or mention this in the declaration card. But I guess no one there has enough common sense to do this.

Anyway for my bday a friend bought me one from the markets at china town sydney hehehe

  • My mum used to use this when we were back in Singapore. We'll be in a frenzy trying to zap those little flies, but they are way too smart for us. Quite a funny sight. And when we do finally get them, there's this burning smell with smoke. Bleagh!

Pity the flies though.. Get chased around fearing for their lives, and get fried if they didn't manage to get away.

I remebered doing this every night before going to sleep in Malaysia. I forgot to do it one night and had mozzie bites on my face and legs the next morning. Damn you mosquitoes.

Zap your human opponent if he aces you.

    Win X 4.

  • At some point last year, or was it the year before, Customs relaxed it. My mum brought some over from Hong Kong which was fine, which my mate from Customs said just months before they were pulling them out left, right and centre as a banned import.

  • +3

    Imported one earlier this year,

Emailed customs about it and they showed me a picture like the one that's for sale here and it's allowed with a big green tick.

The one's that weren't allowed had a big red X and was just a square shape with open electric wires.

So customs gave me the OK to import it :)
