    Finally pulled the trigger and happily joined the QC 35 community. Any suggestions for the firmware upgrade? Heard a lot of complaints about the newest upgrade.

      I haven't had any issues with it so far, but I think the bass might be slightly off compared to pre-update. I would just wait for a stable update before doing it

          I haven't ran into any ANC Issues but I haven't been on a flight lately so I haven't tested it to its max. I've actually had a much better time with connectivity post-update though, it used to take a while to connect to my devices and now it's much quicker

      If the unit is manufactured after Nov last year then there is nothing you can do, already loaded with the affected firmware. That is the info as far as I can remember. Apparently, downgrade wouldn't make a difference due to BOSE's design.

      From personal experience, no noticeable ANC drop on my end, but I haven't been to airport for a while.

      avoid the firmware update like abbots budgie smuglers! after doing the update, i notice ANC not as effective, so I rolled back and nada, still the same. Bose are playing dumb on this. Suspecting some sort of patent issue myself.

    Don't expect quick shipping guys. I called to confirm when they're likely to be dispatched… the dude said they've been hammered (well done everyone) and that they'll need the rest of the week just to get the orders out the door.       Just bought MDR-1000X. better than QC35.

      comfortable: 1000X >> QC35, more functions.

      noise canceling: 1000X >= QC35, almost same.

      Sound quality: 1000X >>>>>QC35

      Price: 1000X >> QC35 :(

        QC35 is more comfortable. 1000X has less ear room than QC35 and it is heavier.

        ……..And you can only connect one device at a time to the 1000x…….. If you want to switch between your phone and iPad (for example) with the QC35s you simply press pause on one device and play on the other. With the Sony you need to physically disable the bluetooth on the connected device for it to be available to the other.

        A deal breaker IMHO.

          @ash2000: You're right, I stand corrected. I guess this breaks a long standing tradition by Bose of not including NFC on their bluetooth devices.

          @dingdong3000: No, that's what you pay for much better sound, better ANC and extra features such as the 'quick attention' mode, NC optimizer (handy if you're wearing glasses) and two different types of ANC ('voice' and 'normal').

          What's hard to justify though in my mind is paying extra for the QC35 over the Sony MDR-100ABN, which has similar ANC and better sound quality, although it's not quite as comfy as the Bose.

          EDIT: Forgot to mention, the Bose only supports the AAC codec - fine if you're an iOS user, but if you use an Android device as your source, it will revert to SBC, which is the old and fairly lo-fi bluetooth codec. The Sony, however, supports both AAC, AptX and even proprietory LDAC for hi-res / Super Audio CD-quality (if you have a high-end Xperia phone or any recent Sony Walkman). The bottom line is, don't by the QC35 if you're planning to use it with an Android device.

          It won't be an issue with most modern day Android devices as they will have AAC playback like HTC 10..Even some Lenevo's devices, Sony Xperia Z6/Z5/Z4/Z3/Z2/Z1 and Moto Z have AAC format. I'm sure there are plenty i've missed that support this format.

          I'm a bit confused, isn't the QC35 their first bluetooth pair? The ones you have used previously have all been wired, right? Also, are you sure your Android phone has AptX? I assume it does.

          It will largely depend on the source material. It may not make much difference on mordern pop / r'n'b tracks as they have already been highly compressed during at the mastering stage. However, if you play some high dynamic range material, such as classical or acoustic jazz recordings, especially in lossless format such as FLAC via AptX (or LDAC), you're much more likely to hear the difference. I have been easily able to do that in blind tests and have been able to tell whether AptX or SBC was used with 100% accuracy. However, I probably pay more attention to sound quality than the average person.

          @dingdong3000: This is hardly the point though, as unless your music library (or streaming service) is in encoded in AAC, the native AAC supports in your headphones won't be used, as the tracks will still be decoded using the inferior SBC codec. This includes MP3, OGG, FLAC or any other popular format.

          Oh, and there's no Sony Xperia Z6 (unfortunately)…

          Indeed, but the point I was making, is I've had a lot of experience with QC products, so I'm very attuned to differences in quality whilst using this category of product. In this case, there is no perceptible quality difference.

      Keep in mind the genuine replacement cables are extremely overpriced. AUD$60 from Bose ($80 on eBay) for either apple or android. You don't want to go generic for a brand new set of headphones.

      I used the apple version on my android phone without problem (only the volume buttons don't work).

      I'd spring the extra $100 and go qc35, no broken cables, compatible with every device, connect simultaneously with two devices ( you don't realise how good this is until you use it), volume control/mute on ear cup, firmware updatable, street cred!

    Just heads up on anyone about to purchase these, the seller replied, "You will receive your order within a 2 week period due to the high demand of orders at the moment" about dispatch schedule. Bit disappointing, as a spoilt, first world kid, I do start waiting for the mailman the next day after making an online order

    Pulled the plug on Mon and ordered (kinda thinking that stock will fly out pretty quickly) the QC35. Been thinking about getting them for a while, especially for work, as I get down to some pretty hardcore computer use which requires focus and willpower to not be distracted. One of my colleagues has them and uses it when he basically just wants to drill down and get shit done.

    Mine arrived on friday, really impressed with the shipping. Less so impressed with the QC35's :(

    These are supposed to be noise cancelling right? They do little to nothing in blocking sound in the mid-high spectrum, such as human speech. The fact that i can easily hold a conversation with these on (ANC activated) is enough reason for me not to keep them. I updated firmware, then downgraded firmware, no difference. Anyone else having this?

    on the plus side, they're comfy (but get a bit sweaty in QLD), sound is good

      I have the QC25's and it sounds like it has the same noise cancelling, I probably wouldn't want to completely block mid/high spectrum as I wouldn't hear train announcements, someone trying to get my attention, a car about to hit me etc.

      Droning out background noise like a planes/trains movement and reducing talking around me works for me.

      Don't be too disappointed. I had a pair of Audio Technica NC headphones and they weren't great at cancelling out people conversations as well. But they more than make up for it in cancelling out constant "droney" sounds e.g. jet and bus engines.

    Mine arrived yesterday. Impressed with them, got to watch out as it really cuts you off from the real world.

    Don't want to upgrade the firmware after reading the posts on the Bose forum about NC issues after upgrades. The Bose app on IOS seems to automatically download the update, it will probably give you the option to install or not but I was paranoid, so I removed the app.
