    its not even 7.0

    • +2

      Just install 7.1.1 custom rom

      • heard its a pain to do that and you get no warranty if you do plus to much of a hassle

        • +2

It's actually quite easy. You'll learn a lot from the first time you flash. Plus using an AOSP rom will result in better performance due to less bloatware. Most importantly AOSP ROMs are far less likely to send your private data to China.

        • @tren: I was going through the custom ROM procedure for something more vanilla, but there were little differences from the guide steps and what was showing up for me which stopped me from getting any further, so I had to google and follow a separate guide to address that particular issue, but something wasn't matching in that so I had to do the same thing for a whole separate issue, downloading drivers, files, programs etc.

My case might be unique but it has been a mess that I didn't feel was worth it just for vanilla Android, which I still don't have.

I'm avoiding MIUI for good, a lot of the problems that I search for In the MIUI forums don't have solutions or even any attention from the dev team despite the thread having a decent amount of people experiencing the problem

Some of my issues: Wrong date being shown in pulldown notifications (I made sure GMT is correct), music sometimes won't come through AUX, my music players and podcasts sporadically close in the background while listening to them despite changing the battery management options, my iTunes syncing program (isyncr) doesn't sync properly at times compared to my non MIUI phones (could be SD card though), Bluetooth problems (unlock with car stereos or smart watches doesn't work except for Xiaomi mi band 2, sometimes takes multiple tries to connect to BT speakers)
YMMV, and a lot of this only happens sometimes but it has been clunky and unpredictable so I wanted to share my experience.

Why do you even need 7.0 consider all security updates are still included

      • -1

Its better? has more to it lol should google it as to why its better then 6.0

        • +9

I'm running 7.1.2 and I barely notice day to day difference to 6, except battery got worse. What did you notice? Oh that's right, you are just trying to neg something for no reason. If you knew anything, MIUI has far more features than AOSP anyway, so comparing android versions of MIUI is a noob approach.

And I commend you an your absolute non effort/knowledge on the differences of 6.0 to 7.0. It must be that good you can't think of it.

        • @OnlinePred: but I didnt neg anything so im confused? also which phone are you using with 7.1.2? your having a go at me because ill rather the latest.

        • +1

@shadowrukia: I have a pixel xl on 7.1.2 which I despise. I can tell you it adds nothing as I went from an op3t running miui to the pixel xl running 7.1.1. Aosp has barely any functionality built in. You need to download so much to do basic things. And the big problem with that is you get such a broad spectrum of user interfaces and usability. Miui has everything with matching UI and usability. Consistency is a wonderful thing.

          I meant negative comment

        • -1

@OnlinePred: More features and more security holes. That sounds like the noob approach to me.

        • +1

          @OnlinePred: + the Pixel is fugly ;)

        • @tren: Better shut down android then and stick with iphone!

        • @OnlinePred: But you weren't comparing Android's with iPhone's. That's irrelevant to your previous statement.

        • @raybies: I wouldn't call it fugly, but it's no beauty that's for sure. Not much else out there hardware wise that suited at the time.

        • @tren: You said "More features and more security holes. That sounds like the noob approach to me.", so that means that you are calling Android a noob approach of an OS. So you should switch to IOS right? Am I missingsomething?

        • @OnlinePred: It is what it is.

  • Also comes with a free official Xiaomi Leather Case

Thanks OzSikhs, I've included this in the post details. Cheers.

    Great deal

  • Very tempting; $755 after cashback

Looking for an excuse to buy one of these, because I just bought iPhone 7 Plus 256GB last month

    • +1

Easy. Sell the iPhone 7 Plus to me (for example) and get the Mi Mix. :Dear
Personally, I am looking for a reason to buy this considering I have been using a Mi Max for 2 months now.

      • +3

Mi Mix IMO is better then the iphone 7 plus (warranty aside)

  • +1

Interesting to see how quickly a company can become a major player and set premium prices after a few good releases

    • +14

their innovation on mi-mix deserve the premium price

the bezel-less design and ceramic body really makes you drools once you hold it in your hand

unlike other premium brand removes handphone jack for profit instead of adding new innovation on new model release

      • +1

i got 3 xiaomi phones so far, i was going to get the mix last year but with the short comings such as the camera and bad grip, I would wait for version 2 which already in the works or smaller size version that fits a 5.5-5.7 in screen in a current 5.2 inch body that allow far better one hand operation

      • +3

I absolutely understand what you mean. They came up with a few new ideas and the devices seem to be of decent quality. Obviously the time is over where you could lean back and assume your device will be a hit just because of the brand name.

        See Sony, HTC, and similar

  • Xiaomi official site in Chinese:
    http://item.mi.com/buyphone/mix

    Xiaomi Mi Mix 256GB, 6GB RAM officially selling RMB3999 = AUD753 (USD579.57)

    Xiaomi Mi Mix 128GB, 4GB RAM officially selling RMB3499 = AUD659 (USD507)

    • -2

And how does that help if they don't ship to Australia?

      • +1

Pay RMB 80 extra and they send to OZ by Toll.

      • +1

Whatever you see there can be ship to OZ - 1st kg RMB 80 - rest RMB40/kg

  • Is there a stable global rom for this?

    • +1

      Yes there is.

  • +7

It is a very slick device but I personally won't spend so much for a device with practically useless warranty and no b28

  • +1

Ordered a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 from Xiaomi Aliexpress store 2 weeks ago, still haven't shipped out my order which I paid extra for ($30AU) with DHL fast shipping. It should of arrived last week however it hasn't even left the warehouse. When I check DHL tracking all it says is "shipping information recieved" and that was 2 days after I ordered it. Messaged them and they just told me to be patient and then stopped responding a week ago when I told them I asked DHL and they said they haven't recieved the package yet. Very disappointed and have no clue where to go from here, would of expected better from a supposed "official xiaomi aliexpress store". My advice if you buy a phone off aliexpress - go for dreami store.

    • +2

"Shipping information received" just means they've created a shipping label for the device.

It's a sneaky way of getting around the Aliexpress "order processing" window because it makes it appear like the item has been shipped with dhl tracking…

      • As far as i know, items with Li battery must go through Toll.

      • +1

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Mad annoying too.

They just peel off a shipping label, stick it onto your empty box and send you out the number… and you try searching for it on tracking websites and you get no info for about 2 weeks. :(

      • does anyone have any experience of them, if they actually even send me it at all, and if so how long will it take, can I dispute?

    • +2

      "official xiaomi aliexpress store".

Xiaomi have no official presence on AliExpress as they sell through mi.com. What you see on AliExpress are Xiaomi resellers.

  • +4

Apparently if this thing breaks in any way your chances of getting it fixed under warranty are basically nil. See previous deals posted on this. Proceed with caution.

    • lol.. mine has been dropped a few times with the case it came with.. no problems thus far

  • This phone looks pretty bad ass! =)

  • +6

I wonder if Chinese mobile phone developers will ever realise that a second rate photography experience is a deal breaker for most western consumers of high end mobiles?

    • It's strange because Chinese consumers are if anything more concerned about camera quality than western consumers

  • +2

Offloading Mi Mix stock due to impending Mi Mix 2 release.

  • +4

My experience with Xiaomi with their Miband when two of them failed was, sorry, because Australia is not a shipping destination for our products we do not warranty them. So I went back to Tinydeal but their response was, sorry, we do can't provide warranty for Xiaomi products shipped to Australia. Of course they say nothing regarding that on their site. I simply refused to buy anything from them again .. oh, yes. They apologised and emailed me a voucher so I could put it towards a new one. The voucher was $1US, their generosity was overwhelming :)

    • +1

Certainly, a gamble hence why I dont buy very expensive devices from china

  • +1

i really want this phone, but i wish it has band 28(700) since im with telstra

    • +1

I have it on Telstra and live in country Vic. Doing a speed test it scores around 40-50mbs indoors as well, pretty good and better than my adsl2.

      I get constant 4g.
In Melbourne cbd it will pick up 4g+ and get 200+mbs on speediest.

  • Holy moly guacamole, I thought it is a laptop at first

    • Just buy this instead of your next laptop ;-)

  • So, what to do if no warranty. It's a big risk, yes? My next phone was going to be a Xiaomi, however after reading this, I'm not so sure…
Is there no Aus consumer protection agency that could help in such instances? Perhaps ebay is the answer? What can the resident OzBargain gurus advise me about this…?

    • +1

No local warranty. Has to go back to where you bought it.

  • Its an interesting phone but I dont think should cost that much more than a 3T

  • +1

Okay after reading various feedback given for this store, and from own experience, dont order off them flat out. When you order with normal shipping, people are quoting it taking up to 3 and a half months! while with DHL, they give you a fake tracking number and don't send the package out till 2 weeks after you've ordered it, combined with the fact the seller produces bullshit excuses. Yes it's good value but honestly go somewhere else, even another store, just not this fake excuse for a 'xiaomi official aliexpress'.

  • interesting phone, but not sure this Mix thing beats iPhone's reliability tho.

    • Reliability possibly, but:
Double the RAM, Bezel vs Bezel-less, cheaper (albeit riskier purchase)
      GSMArena comparison HERE

  • Warranty claims through stuff so I left on AliExpress? Good luck.

  • I recently ordered a phone through Aliex. When I paid for it I simply sent the store a message asking if they could post it ASAP due to my iPhone being deceased! Within 2 hours I received a response saying 'My friend, most certainly, worry not please!' To which I thought, yeah right!! (also thoughts of Yoda crossed my mind!) The next day I received tracking and the phone had indeed been shipped?! Great luck I reckon… However, 'to me, the slow boat from china, perhaps, will it be taking!'

    • If the tracking says "shipping information received", all it means is they've printed a shipping label.

Physical despatch can take some time with these stores…

  • Isn't it cheaper here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Mi-MIX-Pro-M…?

I'd like to buy but have been burnt by aliexpress so many times that I just can't trust any sellers these days…………

  • Anyone got theirs yet?
