  • We ask you for your credit card to make sure you are not a robot.

Seems like a good deal, but surely there are other ways to verify without credit details.

    • Fairly standard for this kind of thing. I think the people who could actually benefit from it will.

    • I ask if you want to buy a bridge because I am a real estate and engineering buff not because I want to con you.

    • Use a prepaid Visa from Australia Post ….Use it AWS azure and Google …It's also what I link to my other inline systems that just need a cc.

I spent the money on groceries just kept cc details ….. Until card expires.

Hey, it is a great deal, but Google saying it needs a CC number to verify you are not a robot? LOL!
Google… the guys who are behind reCAPTCHA and recommend using it would not trust their own product? :-)

CAPTCHA can't prevent a person from signing up to the same deal many times…

      • I was commenting the note about "…and Google asks for your CC to verify that you are not a robot."
Also, I can buy as many prepaid CCs as I wish if I would really be after multiple signups.
However - you either want to play - for which the $300 is more than enough, or you want to develop - and then at some point in time you would need more than $300 credit for your app to be public.

I am pretty sure google would have anyone's cc details. They are just comparing it with their records

Google asks for your CC to verify that you are not a robot.

No they do it in case you're using it for malintent & it makes your a bit more traceable, unless of course the CC info is stolen :-)

No idea what I will use this for, but it's free, so… signing up.

  • Can I spend the $300 in Rebatr app?
    (just kidding)

  • Does this allow you to create custom @xxxxx.com email addresses using Gmail?

    • +1

No that would require you to purchase your own domain which can then be used with Gmail. Plenty of other websites offer cheap domains.

      • +1

I think what he means is does it include the G Suite subscription thats required to use a custom domain with Gmail.

        • Just want to reword it into something easier to interpret;

I've noticed that some companies use Gmail with a custom email address. I'm just wondering if this deal has the ability to create an email address like [email protected] but I can still reply and manage all emails using the Gmail ecosystem.

        • @UncleMurphy: Looks like G Suite is free only for a single user:

          https://www.techwalls.com/register-free-google-apps-standard…

Note that you still have to register your custom domain and be able to specify your MX. Once you have directed email for that domain to Gmail, you can then use the same web interface, except that you'd login as [email protected] and all mail will be sent from that address.

Companies pay about $5 upwards per user per month for G Suite. It's a good deal for a small business as you get the lot, mail, Drive, etc. Spam filtering is second to none.

  • Is this useful for someone that doesn't have a business?

    • +1

Probably not if you don't know what you want to do with it.

  • can the $300 be spent on google's APIs?
