The K cook, according to choice, is a capable machine, for light use. Not suitable for dough or thick batters. While offering some theromiix capabilities - heating and mixing/cutting in the one unit, its only for light dishes. However its price is right as long as you understand what its uses are good for.

    • Thank you, have a kitchenaid for Cakes and breads so this sounds perfect

      • im thinking the same as well, got Kitchenaid for the baking, and maybe this for other tasks..

        • i have used thermomix few times, and it doesn't even come close to what kitchenaid can do.

        • @lostinsydney:

They are totally different machines… You could also say I've used a kitchenaid a few times, and it doesn't even come close to what a thermomix can do.

        • @masuta: I was talking in context to kneading dough.

The K cook, according to choice, is a capable machine, for light use. Not suitable for dough or thick batters.

      • most of the reviews mentioned it's good for small portions.. and of course you cant compare with thermomix..

    • Not suitable for dough

A Kenwood that cannot do dough??!! How sad. Poor Ken must be rolling in his grave.

      • that he wood

    • I bought the kCook recently for $175 from COTD including an extra bowl and scale. Am pleased with it, it's great for soups, casseroles, steamed veggies and fruit.

I'm not sure if the Myer one includes the extra bowl. If not, I'd say that's worth the extra $25.

      • Mine came from Myer Chatswood with extra bowl and scales. ☺ YMMV as reported below.

Thanks OP. Successfully bought $150 worth of Myer Gift Cards at Woolworths using discounted e-gift cards ($15 worth of everyday rewards points) and went across to Myer and bought the Kenwood K-Cook. Boxes old and dusty so old stock. Mine came with bonus scales (but not extra bowl) that previous COTD deal advertised - look for a sticker on the box showing "free scales for a limited time". Personally I think this will sit collecting dust in the kitchen but the other half was wanted something like this for a while.

    • just received mine, and it comes with extra bowl and scales, happy with it :-)

    • Does this have a milk frother?

      • Not this one

    • Noob here so lightly roast please, does this little machine go with milk or only water tank at the back? This will be my first and im not really fond of black coffee ◑▂◐

      • It does not include a milk frother if that's what you were asking.

Milk frothers are a pain to clean. Here are three cheap, easy steps for frothed milk.

        1. Spend $1.50 on this: http://m.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/art/70301165/ and find some cheap eneloops.

        2. Using a microwave, heat 250ml milk in a glass jug for 2-3mins (depending on the microwave).

        3. Insert frother into milk. Switch on. Let it do its magic. Switch off. Pour milk into coffee.

        4. Rinse and wash out frother ASAP. Enjoy your coffee and your money.

They're not too hard to clean as long as you're diligent and rinse them out promptly after use, and if you're making several cups then rinse between each one. Also, I've used several different types (Kogan, Aldi, Brville/Nepresso, De Longhi/Nespresso) and I found the ones made by De Longhi have the best non-stick coating, followed by Breville. Bottom line is if you don't allow too much gunk to accumulate then it will remain easy to clean for life.

The little spinners you're suggesting are okay, too, but it does create a different end result. Just be really careful not to overheat the milk in the microwave or you'll scald it, which changes the flavour quite a bit.

          • @Chazzozz: This method is mostly common sense, but I agree with your comment nonetheless.

    • No milk frother on this one

This is a great pod machine, I love mine for a quick & easy cuppa in the middle of the day. I bought one two years ago when Myer had them on sale for $149, and I thought it was an awesome deal then. At this price and with the cash-back or credit offer on top it's even more awesome today!

    • Shows item out of stock for me

      • This has happened to me with Myer in the past - turned out it was Ghostery/Adblock Chrome extensions that stopped their online ordering from working )@#$@)(#@

        • Thank you. Switched from Firefox to Chrome and everything worked. Ordered 1 with free delivery.

      Dupe maybe?

    • I use a french press to froth milk. Very easy and cheap method.

    • When it makes coffee does it stop automatically or I have to know when to stop?

  • K-Cook out of K-Stock
