    • pretty good. I'm a regular and I get 5-10 ping on steam servers.

TPG also has had latency problems in the past and doesn't have a POP in all the capitals….

I.E I'm in Perth, if I wanted to connect to a gaming server run by my next door neighbor with TPG the connection would route across to the east coast and back. Where as iinet has a POP in the capitals so it goes from me to the iinet POP in Perth then to my neighbor.

I'm sure TPG is fine if you just want to download all day.. but for gaming, VPN etc its best to stick to an ISP like iinet.

You fools need to do the maths. 24000/1024. 1024 for max uploads, you wont burn ANY sizeable portion of your data in a 1tb plan. Boy, some of you here are clueless.

      • I think it's you that needs to do some maths revision champ! Sweeping statements alone don't make you right, except in zhenjie land! Poor feng zi! ;)

Even at the average ADSL2+ speeds of around 12-14mbps (please tell me if you get 24, I'll move in with you), it's quite easy to drop a tb in a month…a good deal less than that actually! Then, guess what, uploads get added on top! ;)

Yeah right, the rest of us are clueless! :p

        • Look at the sentence structure and where the periods and comma is used. I was obviously talking about uploads on 1024kbs. I think you are just being desperate now Stewy.

    • I would pay a premium for iiNet as they have excellent connection quality and service. Same with internode.

  • I admire and appreciate the competition as it gives iinet more value for money as well as puts slightly more pressure on a very competitive market. I won't be changing from my current ISP with TPG as I feel they still offer better value for money (in my case anyway).

I'm on 120 GB Optus Cable. Seriously, don't you guys ever run out of things to download?

    • Well in this case (since I'm already with iinet), this would allow me to drop back a plan, more than double my quota and save $30 a month. The massive quota increase will more than offset counting uploads.

This is just a response to keeping up with the rest of the major ISP's out there such as TPG, AAPT etc.

this isn't a limited time offer nor a significantly better deal for those looking to subscribe to a broadband service.

People already on IINET would have received notification via their iinet email account/mailing address.

Some users on iinet will obviously find this a better deal - this isn't telstra where great broadband prices are easy to find (though over the last couple of months iinet plans haven't been that great).

negative only because this isn't a bargain but more of a 'bulletin post' and i think most reasonable people can work out whether they upgrade/downgrade their current plans or if they can stay on them. also people need to realise that uploads are counted and to some of us this isn't ideal but im not negating it for that reason.

    • iiNet users have not received notification of this. Oz bargain was where I found out. I suspect we will be told on Friday in an official email.

It is significant because iiNet have joined TPG and the like with huge download quotas, whereas previously iiNet connections were mid-ragne quotas with excellent service. now you get both.

  • TPG will smash this in a couple of days anyway.

for download quotas yes, but anything above these plans is a bit ridiculous, and the advantage of iiNet is that you have great pings/quality/service. TPG was always lacking on those things, but awesome on downloads. now the download limit playing field has evened out somewhat.

Perhaps so, but honestly I've been with TPG for a couple of years now and never have any problems. I always max out my line and have huge quotas to match. Granted, their helpdesk isn't the best, but I never have to use it so that's fine :D

It still puzzles me why people pay Internode almost double what I pay for half as much. They seem to have a perception that TPG is terrible so they convince themselves to keep paying through the nose. Well they're wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Good for iiNet as this can only help the rest of us in the long run, but I'll be looking forward to what TPG comes up with next.

  • You got to love competition and TPG got onto it quick - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1515174

    • as i wrote in the iprimus post…

it’s very good value on paper but again it’s limited to certain exchanges only.. just like their 500GB plan.

it seems like a very knee-jerk reaction to introduce these plans which aren’t even available yet until next month

also, you must go on TPG’s ULL.. which takes much longer to set up (ie downtime) where as iprimus/iinet supports rapid/fast SSS churn

also, enough with the $75 unlimited fanboi postings..

u can’t compare TPG’s $75 unlimited plan because it’s available ONLY on some sydney exchanges where as the iprimus/iinet plans are available on all their ADSL2+ exchanges, nationwide.

    iinet sucks

    TPG WINS HANDS DOWN

vote revoked. You can also spend the next day using epic TPG net without OzB

  • So.. it's officially the 20th. This is usually when I get uncapped too. My download limit hasn't changed and I am still capped.

"The new plans would be available from 20 August. Existing Naked DSL customers will automatically receive the higher quota at no extra cost."

When will this actually take place? Anybody know?

  • Well I just upgraded. What I've used on my current home 7 plan will be deducted from the new plan. Leaving over 470gb for peak and same with off peak.

    • Did you have to change it yourself or was it automatic?
Mine is still the same - capped. =/

      • Went into tool box and changed myself. Bcoz I'm not on naked.

  • -1

i didnt get the upgrade and im an exisiting customer :( my quota is still the same
im on the phone with the iinet guy and he said that media release is a scam

    • Good one. I upgraded this morning.

    • I'm an existing customer. Got my email today. They upgraded my quota from 50GB/50GB to 75GB/75GB.

I asked to downgrade my plan back to 50GB/50GB and saved $10 per month on my internet fees. Maybe you need to check your email again?

  • omg the customer service guy wasnt even aware of the new plan change. wasted 10 minute of my time put on hold waiting for him to confirm it.
iinet says there having some difficulty with the upgrades so now i have to wait a day or two with slow internet. i cant even load daily telegraph properly.

    • Change it yourself in toolbox.
      broadband > change broadband plan
      then follow the steps.

Also it gives you an option to choose from 4 gifts or something.

There was a problem on their end where users who upgraded couldn't use the net because of login issues but they fixed it now.

  • new plans are on there website now :) yey

  • im still capped .. iinet told me to wait till tomorrow for the changes..
im capped so i cant even change the plan by myself cus the page wont load !!
have people tried changing the plan themselves? i was hoping for it to be automatic effective 20 august. this is like when it took them 2 months to set up my naked dsl..

  • I'm about to change it from the old home 6 to the new home 3.

But will this set 20th as my new reset date?

Will I have to pay extra?

And will I get the 600gbs instantly?

    • Well, the new home 4 plan is cheaper than the old home 7.. So they credited me the amount they took from my bank.
My date is the same as before.
I got the GB amount instantly.

      • Grr. I changed it with no fees, it showed up instantly but my speed remains capped.

        Anyone else encounter this issue?

Surely I wasn't the only one who went all-out, downloads blazing upon hearing the new plans!
EDIT: Seems like it's working now. Approximately 10 minutes after I've changed it.
Still a bit slower than average… must be the hordes of other iiNet users attempting to download the internet. :P
