6L Tefal Neo Secure 5 Pressure Cooker $99.95 with Free Shipping + More Deals - Harris Scarfe

80

Was hunting for a good stovetop pressure cooker since our not-too-old Hawkins Futura has been giving us a lot of grief and found this perfect sized one for us after a thorough search. Seems to be one of the cheapest one as well as best reviewed. Other stores selling the same model from $129 and up + postage. There was a cheaper Raco one but had concerning reviews.
Harris Scarfe has more deals for 2 days, ending today, for up to 50% off on many categories.
Have been looking to find and post a good deal for some time, hopefully will be able to contribute more towards our community in the future.

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2017.

  • Bought same unit at woolies for $45 on clearance. $99 not much of a bargain regardless.

6L is way too small for a pressure cooker, and non stick sucks.

    • +3

You mean nonstick sticks, not sucks. Yeah the deal blows, steam that is :P

      • No, I actually meant non suck sticks.

    • We have this 6L and always have leftovers after cooking meal for four people.

      • You can only fill up a pressure cooker to 2/3 maximum, so that's 4 litres at most.

Not sure how you can manage to feed 4 people with leftovers.

First pressure cooker I've owned, it's great. 6L is more than big enough when cooking for 2 in this household.

  • Description says cast aluminium which I doubted , looks stainless as says the details from the Tefal web site

I guess the $4 difference between myers ebay and harris scarfe depends on if you need delivery e.g don't live neat harris scarfe or myer, or you need one tonight to cook dinner, or are near myer or harris scafe doing other shopping anyway.

Myer will price match advertised specials, so you can take the add to myers if it's handier and get it for $99.95.

Delivery for me can be a problem …. courier leaves the card, so I need to authaurise leave with no signature, other couriers leave at post office and then I can only got to post office on weekends …… sometimes to save a few dollars cost more in time that could be spent looking for the next bargain.

  • Don't understand why anyone would buy one if these drive top cookers when you can get the Breville fast slow cooker for less than $140 on ebay with a 20% discount. With electric ones you set them and go. Plus they sear and reduce quickly. I love my Breville!

    • Which one?

Don't understand why anyone would buy one if these drive top cookers

Electric don't reach the same high pressure as stove top, and most electric are non-stick which is not as good as stainless steel.

Plus a stove top will last you a lifetime, whereas electric is only as good as the electronics and once they fail that's it (they also cost more).

Plus they sear and reduce quickly.

So does a stove top, and it's even quicker.

Exactly the reasons why I've gone for stovetop again. Had an electric one (albeit a cheap Kambrook one) but no consistency. You do miss the ease of 'set & forget' though.

Still using larger Hawkins pressure cookers that have been handed down in family for about last 50 years. Still work great. And can't get much better than free.

      • Those ones were the best! Simple design with just a weight valve but still safe with an emergency valve. Easy to use and clean and lasts forever. The new generation Futura range from Hawkins is a far cry from those, at least in my experience.

        • My Fagor Duo is awesome, a bit expensive (I paid $169 for the 10L about 8 years ago), but worth every cent.

        • I remember being taught to use one by my mother when I was a child - it really scared me with it's hissing of steam. But the safety valve was explained, the weight fascinated me - lifting it to release steam & delicious cooking smells. I'm still a little cautious, but it's energy saving & cooking won me over.

        • @Infidel:

The one my mum used was an old aluminium Prestige with no safety features.

Scared the hell out of me the way it used to spit and splutter.

It blew the weight off one day and went through the ceiling, made an absolute mess.

Also stovetop pressure cookers can be quick released by running it under the sink!

  • We have this unit. It was our first ever pressure cooker. We've found it really easy to use, and enjoy making some great meals in this. The size is more than adequate for our family of four.

  • We have a Raco Smartplus 6L (https://www.cookwarebrands.com.au/raco-6l-pressure-cooker.ht…), we use every single day since last 5 years. Not issues whatsoever and it is BIG ENOUGH for cooking 4-6 adults a meal.
