      • How did you go?

        • +3

Yesterday I called again and spoke to Jas, who gave pretty much the same replies as the person on the 15th.
Told me I could make a formal complaint by snail mail to:
PayPal Pty Ltd, Locked Bag 10, Australia Square, Sydney NSW 1215 Australia

I also sent a complaint to [email protected] care of Ms Kirsty Poole, Customer Advocacy Manager for PayPal Australia; and if required I will go to the financial ombudsman after this.

Today I spoke to Kris who seemed to be much more forthright with providing information, she said Roboguy has been flagged as an bad seller, but that in certain Paypal claims where Roboguy responded, Paypal replied to Roboguy saying that he had until the 22nd to supply the items, so in those cases the phone representatives are not allowed to close the case until that date, whereas in other cases he did not respond so the cases can be closed as soon as you make a phone call. She promised on the 22nd they could close the case. Still really sucks, but at least I don't feel so much like I'm being arbitrarily treated differently.

Also tried contacting Roboguy directly again as one nice Ozbargainer suggested via private message.

          @mikeInside: Keep us informed.

        • +2

          @mikeInside:

Handy to know.. but easy to lose this comment.

The 22nd will come and there is zero chance of it being delivered. Refunds in 4 days…

        • In my case, I got the same thing from paypal. Called paypal to ask wtf, but ended up asking the guy on the phone to email the guy working on my claim to tell him that roboguy sent me another email saying there were further delays, and now the item might arrive on the 26th at the earliest…or something like that. Which breeches his 30 day delay bs policy anyway, so waiting till 22nd or whatever was wasting everyone's time. Which was all true. Couple days later claim was decided in my favor and money already back on my credit card. Phew!

If you still want to contact him, call him, i think his mobile is listed on his web site, just tell him you want a refund or you'll just call your bank company and ask for a charge back, which will make him incur extra fees…its a $25 or whatever he doesn't wanna lose. He sounded like a nice guy when i spoke with him, just waaaaaaay in over his head .

Although, if paypal finds out you contacted him they get grumpy with you, for some reason. Well they did with me, not my fault, he called me..

          Anyways, good luck mate!
I really don't envy the guys still stuck with this mess.

        • +2

          @PJC:

Called again now that it's the 22nd, and the refund was processed immediately just like the other people who recently commented. So glad it's over, thanks for the support all.

        • @mikeInside: Thanks for the good news.

    • +1

I too got the same round around. I had to call back 3 times until I got lucky and spoke to a guy by the name of John (sorry didn't give last name) and he was shocked that it has taken this long. He closed the claim in my favour immediately.

So I say keep trying until you get a sympathetic ear.

      Good Luck!

  • To be fair to RobUGuy he did come in and provide an update just 18 days ago. You guys can officially request your refund in just 9 days time.
The boat arrives in just 5 days time.

    Celebration time :)

    • +1

Ha ha ha, i am already celebrating with my refund. Good luck to you and pray the Robo's are in that ship and you shall receive it soon.

    • The ship is officially scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on the 22nd according Port Authority Melbourne. However, no one know whether the goods are really on that ship!

  • +1

where is the marketing guy who posted this deal ban him and roboguy for good

  • +2

I have just got off the phone to Paypal and the guy said I will get a refund as Roboguy didnt reply to the requests within 3 days.

    • When I looked at my case, it says that Paypal requests seller to provide a response by the 22nd July, do you think I can call after 3 business days? I filed my dispute on the 12th July .

      • try and call them anyway, I think I called them up around the same time ie. around a week since I first raised the dispute. They should have a list of the claims against Roboguy by now and the worst case scenario is you get someone who tells you no-go like the unlucky few who are still fighting their battles, in which case you might just want to call again at a later time and you might get someone who can award you the claim straight away.

  • +4

Spent 5 mins with PayPal last night, explained the whole situation, then the lady put me on hold for a short while and came back advise a refund will be issued, logged straight into my PayPal account, refund issued! I'm so glad that I finally get off the boat, and I purchased the Mi Robo from previous eBay sales as well, received the unit 3 days after!!

    • +1

May I ask, when did you open the Paypal dispute?

      • +1

        9th May - Order placed
        25th June - Dispute filed
27th June - Escalated for pp to review

Since escalated, the reviewing deadline has been postponed by PayPal several times, without and notification, I have to manually log into my account to check the latest status. First date been given was 4/5th July, then 12th, 17th, 22nd, and yesterday it was showing the 1st August, that's the moment I decided to give them a call…

I was well prepared prior to the phone call(I've made 25 transactions after this one, orders shipped from US UK & China, all received smoothly) and it turns I don't need to finish my story they've decided to rule in my favour(not even mentioned cc charge back)
Thanks millions to all the helpful information above!

  • +3

Finally decided not to wait any longer too.
Have been very patient and wanted to give Roboguy a chance, but unfortunately lack of update these past few days just not good enough anymore.

Escalated the claim on 7th July, after sending message to seller via Paypal around end of June.
Deadline for seller to response is today, no response (surprise surprise).
Just called Paypal, spoke to a gentleman called Brian, he is very helpful and understanding.
He told me there have been many other claims against Roboguy and the result taken by Paypal depending on when they made claims, that's why they can refund to some straight away and for others they have to wait a bit longer, they simply follow the right process he said.

For my case, as the seller doesn't response by deadline, they immediately can refund me.
I can see the balance in my paypal already.

A relief to get off this ride, although still hoping the outcome is much better.
Now have to order from other site and wait again.

Good luck to all still waiting.

    • +2

Thanks kfh_9118. It looks like I would have been better off to wait to escalate my claim as Roboguy is now not bothering to supply the freight tracking number like he has for my dispute. It's this shipping information that appears to be holding up my resolution. I'm just hoping Paypal actually proceed with the refund if I don't have the product by the 22nd, as they have verbally agreed to. Numerous phone calls have gotten me nowhere.

      • +1

        @Pip Squeak
If you haven't escalated your claim, I will suggest to escalate now, as it will then take another 11 days for Paypal waiting for seller's response to resolve the claim.
If you somehow receive the items before the deadline, you can just cancel the claim.

If you wait until 22nd (although only 4 days wait now) to escalate the claim, you might have to wait until early August (assuming they follow their procedures) before you can request refund.

One thing I notice is that even though Paypal said in my claim that the seller has until 18th July to respond before they will finalise the claim, I didn't hear back from Paypal even after the deadline. It seems that we need to call them to make a further push.

I just bought from gearbite ebay with the 10% discount code. I can get it $10 cheaper from shopping square, but it seems that the delivery is longer.
Hopefully will finally have this product by next week.

So far, this is the worst online shopping experience I have. 2 months wait and not having it delivered in the end.

        • +3

Yep, I escalated the claim on the 26th of June. In response to the claim, Roboguy provided a shipping tracking number and hence Paypal have given him until the 22nd to provide the goods. It seems he did not respond to escalations after this and Paypal have been able to resolve these disputes faster than mine. I have received mine from gearbite and am loving it!

        • +1

          @Pip Squeak:

Ahh, I understand what you mean now.
The paypal guy did tell me I was lucky to escalate a bit later than others, and because they never had any response from Roboguy, they can issue me refund straight away.

Now I know what he means.
Seems like Roboguy has given up fighting as well, wonder if he actually got scammed himself and whether the products will arrive or not in the end.

Already got tracking number from gearbite, estimated to be delivered this friday. Can't wait.

Thanks to all for the useful information provided in this thread.

        • +1

          @kfh_9118:

Bought from gearbite but forgot to enter in the promo code. FML!!!!!

Hoping he will cancel so I can rebuy….

  • +3

Just got my refund processed. Unfortunately I had to wait for Roboguy to timeout on responding to the claim and then call Paypal to actually get it done; despite the response period having expired, nothing happened until I called.

  • +1

I got my refund processed today but there was a disconcerting message. I haven't used the claim feature much so I'm not sure if it's always a disclaimer they add but it makes it seem like there are some liquidity issues with roboguy.

    The email I got specified:

"We were able to recover $470.00 AUD, and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow 5 business days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.

If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed
to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the
seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account
    privileges."

    • +1

My email had a similar but different wording…

"Our investigation is complete and and we have recovered your funds. $399.00 AUD has been credited to you. This is the maximum amount we were able to recover. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted."

    • +1

In the same boat as you with exactly the same wording from PayPal.

Went through the process and as the seller did not respond the case was automatically decided in my favour. Did not even have to call PayPal. So it seems if you put in the claim late you'll have a more pleasant experience with PayPal.

Just ordered from Gearbite using the 10% eBay voucher. So glad to be off the ride finally! Good luck to everyone still waiting for your refunds. There is light at the end of the tunnel

  • +1

Well, I caved. I figured so many of you guys at bailing that it would affect his ability to keep his business running.

Anyway 11th day today, I called and the lady ruled in my favour. Fairly easy and straight forward, glad I didn't do it earlier as it seems faster now.

Interestingly enough, I didn't get the email text about the seller having insufficient funds.

"Our investigation is complete and and we have recovered your funds. $465.00 AUD has been credited to you. This is the maximum amount we were able to recover. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted. "

  • +2

I received my refund from Paypal today, didn't resort to calling them like other members here have, just got the "ruled in your favor email" and $399 in my account.
Hopefully more people start getting theirs automatically too.

  • +1

Got same ruled in my favor email.

  • +2

Was considering a refund again - the Live tracking hadn't updated since the 10th and the first time I looked at it. I was starting to think this was fake. Today it appears to be off the coast of Northern NSW. I guess I'll wait another week before putting my claim in.

Really quite irritating seeing all these people ordering the vacbots and getting them within a couple of days.

    • +1

Got mine, i ordered from Gearbyte for a lesser rate and delivered today. Thank you Robo guy for such a ride.

    • +5

The tracking drops off whilst the boat is in the middle of the ocean.. Unless you pay for satellite tracking.

You guys are very patient towards somebody who is deceptive (to put it nicely).

He hasn't showed for nearly a month and only appeared to half answer questions.

Even if it arrives you will end up regretting it if you get a warranty issue a few months down the line.

      • +2

Ditto. Everyone is free to do what they like but it seems to defy common sense to wait when you can safely get out of this debacle and order from somewhere else more reliable and cheaper.
Since getting a refund and buying one from Gearbyte, my little robot has cleaned my house 22 times for 1127 minutes covering 961m2 of area :-)

        • +1

Just imagine how much quicker I'll get my robot now that everyone else has pulled out.
Also the free gift might be something awesome. Like a second unit!!

        • +1

@badarz: ha ha ha good luck with your second unit, Pray for your first paid unit to arrive in one piece and then worry about local warranty.

        • +1

@badarz: I don't see why not. With all the people that have pulled out he would definitely have surplus stock*

*provided the stock was loaded on the ship in the first place ;)

      • Honestly, if I had the money to cover an order elsewhere while I waited for a refund I probably would have by now.

Or maybe we can just put it down to fear of conflict.

        • PayPal will refund you almost straight away :)

  • +2

Paypal just ruled in my favour. I'm so glad this is over.
Btw, I ordered the same vac from another deal posted here and got it within 5 days.

    • You didnt disappoint us :) Good luck.

  • +3

My Paypal claim deadline was yesterday, so I called up Paypal to discuss. They said that they had given the seller till the 22nd.
I mentioned that when I last called (on Monday) the person on the phone told me if the seller did not respond by the 20th it would be ruled in my favour - she put me on hold for a few minutes and then advised that yes, the claim will be closed in my favour and a full refund provided.

    • +1

Glad you made your mind. I made my mind as soon as i heard of the ship information given was not right.

  • +1

Called Paypal today and she said theres not much she can do until after the 22nd as I raised my claim on the 12th and they have to give 10 days for a response. When I asked her what kind of response that the seller would be able to give in his favour, she said hes already been flagged as a bad seller so he wouldnt be able to respond?? And that the claim will be closed in my favour on Sunday. Damn, wished I did put through my claim earlier, so much for trying to support a startup..

    • +2

Well all of us said to pull back sooner, has been repeated many times

  • Wonder how many refunds paypal have processed already? Must be in the thousands by now?

    • +2

      he didn't sell 1000 vacuums….
or do you mean $1000's of dollars, because thats only like 3 refunds ;)

      • +1

Didn't he have a whole heap of other products as well?

        • Not at the moment, but he did/does have plans to import other products.

At the moment on his website, only the Mi Box 3 (which is supposedly in stock) and the Robot Vacuum Cleaner are listed on the active deals page. He's still taking orders for the vacuum cleaner lol

  • +4

Surprisingly the Paypal dispute claim was not closed when I decided to do a charge back through my credit card provider a week back.

I also got an email today that Paypal have decided to refund me in my favour. Good for me and Roboguy as well.

So I guess Paypal have came to the conclusion that even they cannot procrastinate in processing the refunds any further. I wonder how many of the people that bought from Roboguy pulled out of this deal? I would hazard a guess, as more than half.

Because it seems even the people who said they will patiently wait are also wanting refunds or already have. Poor Roboguy was just in over his head with advertising this deal (especially as mothers day deal) and just failed to deliver at the end. Better luck next time if there ever is and hope it was a good lesson learnt for him as well.

    • +3

and just failed to deliver at the end

i think his lack of communication compared to lack of delivery is the main issue.

    • +4

Someone needs to make a poll to see the numbers that returned. That might encourage the ones who were on the fence about going through with it to submit their cancellation as well.

  • +1

Also got my refund via cc chargeback

  • +7

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/319788
$359! Proven seller! Surely this will help the decision-making for those still waiting on Roboguy

    • +8

I am quite confident that peeps that buy from above will receive it faster than the peeps waiting from Roboguy.

    • +2

Agreed! Bought from this seller and got it within 5 days. This is what I call a good buying experience.
      Roboscam, are you reading this?

  • +3

I had raised a dispute with Paypal which was immediately escalated to a claim and the deadline given to me was the 18th before a decision could be made. I was in no hurry as I had already ordered and received the vacuum from the awesome gearbyte deal some time back. On the day I lodged the claim, I also wrote a strong email to roboguy about his BS and asking for a refund. Well I received a call from the Robudud and I was in a vile mood that day and he got a good dose. Long story short.. I got my refund on the 18 from Paypal.
To all who are waiting for this elusive douche-bag to ship the vacuum, my advice will be to get your money back and take your business somewhere else where customers are truly valued.
p.s. leave an awesome review here https://www.productreview.com.au/p/roboguy-1.html

  • +4

Yeah, Finally got paypal confirmed refund since Rob-u-guys ignored the request to response, end of drama for my case.

Ordered again via Ebay seller last week, who had extra 10% off, which end up paid for $380ish and most important thing is delivered within 4 days, within 4 days, 4 days, 4 days…………..That's the way to do the business.

Rob-u-guy, if you wanna order those, I can send you link if that helps.

    • +1

      Rob-u-guys

hey, i trademarked than name ;)

  • +3

Since it was such popular for the Mother's day deal. I bet there will be a Father's day Xiaomi robot vacuum clearance sales coming up from Roboguy.

    • +2

      Delivery sometime in 2020?

  • +7

I was in the group that was told by paypal that nothing could be done until July 22nd (same story on 4 separate calls), and that a refund could be issued on this date. I just called up, didn't have to explain anything (lady knew this seller had a lot of disputes), put me on hold for a few minutes, and resolved the case in my favour. For those in this same scenario, call now.

So glad to be done with this robofckwit.

  • +2

Got my refund with no hassle from PayPal this morning. I made the claim on the 10/7 they made me wait until the 22nd and I got the refund notice from PayPal this morning. Bought from gearbite this morning. I'm curious to see if the roboguy vacuums beat the gearbite ones now they are both in Melbourne.

    • +1

I believe Roboguy is in the middle of nowhere in NSW.

Seeing the number of cancellations, I'm sure he will start dumping those vacuums, scooters and tvs onto the market or ebay at very cheap price. just wait for it if you are not in rush.

    • +1

Hmm I haven't got my refund notice yet and my date was on the 22nd as well. Going to call first thing in the morning, got Roboguys shipping update today and don't want this case to be held up any further

      • +1

got it! Going to place an order with Gearbite now :D

  • +2

Here is my paypal disbute history:
18 Jul 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to buyer
18 Jul 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to seller
4 Jul 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to seller
27 Jun 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to seller
27 Jun 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to buyer
27 Jun 2017 - Buyer: Dispute escalated to claim
27 Jun 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to buyer
24 Jun 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to seller
24 Jun 2017 - PayPal: Email sent to buyer
    27 Jun 2017 - Buyer: Dispute filed
    24 Jun 2017 - Buyer: Dispute filed

and roboguy had upto 21/7 to respond and they didn't. Paypal finally gave me my money back after I called them today.

I believe 21/7 was the deadline that roboguy was given by Paypal, so anyone who called between NOW and roboguy submits another submission will get their money back straight away.

  • +1

My Paypal dispute (I lodged it on the 12th of July) says to wait until the 27th for the seller's response. Should I keep waiting for the 27th or call up Paypal now because it's the 22nd today?

    • +1

      Worth a try

    • I'm in a similar position, so will try calling tonight.

Did you end up calling? If so, how did you go?

      • Called myself: tough love and told to wait until response date.

I'm worried I've left it too late - if he can get valid tracking IDs out then that's proof of shipment, and I think enough to close in favour of the seller…

        • I have to wait till the 27th. I don't want the vacuum now, and would much rather be refunded. No update from seller on the sending status. Hopefully it will not have been sent by 27th and I can get the money back

        • @tqf8h: can you do a chargeback through your bank instead?

    • strange, i lodged on the 12th as well and my date was 22nd, I thought it was standard to give only 10 days for response time maybe you can bring that up?

  • +1

I had a very persistent courier with, well, not the best grasp of English trying to deliver something to my house on Thursday and not wanting to leave it behind or at the post office.

The only thing is I have no idea what he was delivering! Just wondering if the vacs have possibly landed in the country?

    • +3

The ship just docked in melbourne today. So unlikely its the vacuum cleaner that your courier tried to deliver.

  • +1

If the box is anything to go by… It has the Xiaomi logo on the outside corner.. If you see that just don't accept delivery lol

  • +1

He's sending emails asking to confirm if the address in the order is correct…
After my order is cancelled and the refund process is over via cc chargeback
What if I arrive home one day to his package on my doorstep? Does anyone know what would be the correct thing to do? Thanks!

    • +1

      Free vacuum.

      Kidding.

      Do a return to sender?

    • How did you reply to him @smarioc?

I have received the same email to confirm the address etc.

      • +1

Haven't replied yet. I don't even know what to say.
I think I'll just say "Please don't send the item, as I have been refunded my money. You can keep the vacuum, thanks."

        • I got the same feeling, not sure what to say..

Just told him i have raised a paypal claim as the item will definitely not arrive before 26th July which is the date he promised to be the latest.

    • +3

Has your chargeback actually finalised? I know my bank credits my account but they still go through an investigation and can reverse the credit if I'm found at fault. If you receive it they may decide to not find in your favour? Just my opinion not actual experience.

      • +1

Good point thanks wolfshooter. When I checked my "Disputes" history on my Amex account, the $399 is listed there as "closed". So it looks like it's finalised. I'll send a polite email to Roboguy telling him to not send the vacuum!

  • +1

Just had my claim resolved in my favour. I think now that it's past the 22nd they are finalising them. I didn't have to say a thing.

  • +2

This is almost hilarious now. Deal ended around 14 May and it's still not delivered lol
Roboguy, are you going to set a new record and deliver after 3 months from ordering?

    • +1

Sure many hope they are going to receive one soon.

      • +1

Sure many hope they are going to receive one soon.

based on what? his excellent communication and updating those still waiting on the progress of his promised delivery date?

        • my comment published before i finished typing

    • +1

Sure many hope they are going to receive one soon. Not sure if that would happen.

  • +12

Didn't order but have been keeping somewhat up to date. I was on Roboguy's side for the first few weeks because at least he was messaging and keeping everyone informed. Now he hasn't responded since last month so screw this guy, everyone should escalate and get their money back. He doesn't care about you so you shouldn't give him the same respect. If he truly cared he'd be giving an update damn near everyday, and at the very least apologise to anyone who's been waiting this long. He's been postponing the promised delivery date and is too cowardly to admit it.

If you get your money back and also get the vacuum, honestly I would just keep it. It's an expensive yet important lesson for Roboguy to learn how to communicate with customers/suppliers and not be greedy. This guy hasn't done anything in the past month to deserve any respect.

TLDR: This guy does not give a shit about you - get your money back.

    • +4

      agree

    • +5

If you get your money back and also get the vacuum, honestly I would just keep it.

Don't agree with how everything with this deal has gone, but this is a dick move

      • eye for an eye if you want to sell like a complete a-hole…

      • i agree it is a very bad move.
