My very first post from Trump Land. Currently on vacation in the US and just started the coastal drive from LA to SF. Monthly cost for the S8+ is $82 per month (min cost $1968 over 24 months) including handset fee. Downloads stop when data limit is reached. Data charged in 1kb blocks. Individual customers only. • @takutox:

Not everyone feels the need to respond a short while later to comments. After all we do have lives outside ozbargain Taku.

In the end your entitled to your own opinion, I just don't think you realise how conceited and condescending you come across as to how fixated your opinion is - my way or the highway. Anyway, all the best and have fun finding that elusive bargain phone that is within your non-impulsive deemed price zone.

        • @SaberX:

OOh nice 'no life' jab from the 2000's.

Yeah, you have fun with your $1000 phone you can't afford outright living outside your means (that you bought at average price, lel) :)

Thanks tightarse. Delivered just as you said - I will now toss up hitting the button.

I can deal without the spotify but yeah, I do wish they gave Netflix.

On another note - to reconfirm with others on woolies and familiar: although their network coverage differs to Telstra direct regionally, has anyone done a comparison metro wise (particularly Perth) and found the coverage is pretty much Telstra quality if your in the suburbs? e.g. irrelevant to me as I don't travel regional often.

  • Now TA, what air fares, accommodations, car rentals and sim cards deals did I miss about your trip to the US, extreme ozbargain style AKA tightarse style? Please explain in details ;)

    Enjoy your time there :).

How's 1.75L of Jim Beam for $25 sound? 10 chicken nuggets for $1.19 at Burger King ain't bad. Prepaid SIM I chose is $75/month T-Mobile with unlimited LTE data. Haven't faulted it yet, incredible speeds and fantastic coverage. Cheapest petrol I've spotted is $2.65 per US gallon ($0.70 per litre).

        You're so lucky, I'm envious.

The US has the best roadside diners, titty bars and Super Skunk.

  • tight "No days off" arse

  • Out of interest - does anyone know if woolies offer a network coverage/30 day sorta guarantee - where if coverage or the like is shizz house , having never used woolies before in my area, we can return , no questions asked and no cost?

Like a cooling off style period?

  • Need a good deal on phone outright

      Plans are for suckers

  • TAnx

  • When will the next Optus friends and family be offered? That $48.75 deal for s7 from a while ago was a ripper…

  • Thanks. I've signed up for the previous deal, sold the phone and now I have 6gb data with unlimited calls for 24 bucks a month.

  • Hey Woolies… Where's my S8 from the last $67/month cashrewards order? Still waiting…

    • I don't think Woolies have a rep on here, might work out better if you contacted them directly (assuming you haven't already).

      • Well they somehow heard me and I've just received a tracking number via StarTrack for Overnight delivery… GREAT! It's the weekend :/

        • Haha nice. Glad it worked out for you.

  • S7 or S7 Edge deals pretty please ?

    Thanks a mil @tightarse, purchased the S8+

  • Next week, another s8 deal with 24gb…..

  • Wait for the right time guys. This phone and plans will eventually come down very soon

    • Everything technology related will eventually come down over time… but it'll be outdated. Especially in this day and age… but Who knows how much longer we all have to live. I could not wake up tomorrow. Why bother working your butt off so you someone else can take your money? YOLO! wait… is that still "IN"?

  • damn 12gb! makes me wish I waited for this deal….. got the first deal at pre-order 4gb :( fml

    • wasn't that alot cheaper at like $65 a month or something?

That said I'm tempted by this .. 12 gb is still more than enough for my everyday browsing but won't cop it if streaming etc. Then again I think any data (even the recent 17 gb virgin offer) won't cop netflix or any other streaming service that isn't an once off video. Probably need to download off wifi ahead of time haha.

      • yeah my s8+ was 69 I prefer data tho and for $13 more and 12gb thats sweet:) But yeah I am forced to use wireless where ever I can :P It's not that bad but still have to keep an eye out in case going over. (PITA)

        • Hmm true… I know your pain. I think you adapt though. Once upon a time 1-1.5 gb, 2, 3gb etc plans were the standard around the $30-45 range when i started off with vaya, telstra etc back in 2013-2014 circa. Slowly made my way through vaya and up the ranks into amaysim and I remember plans were a few gb only. Eventually the bump up to 4,5 gb around happened, and I can't even rememebr when but next thing i know there was 7gb and 9gb plans on amaysim unlimited.

I eventually made my way from 7gb to 9gb for more data. In the end no matter what i bumped up to I started to find i got closer to being short. I bet surviving on 9gb with amaysim will suddenly be 'easy' and i will be pushing 12 gb on the woolworths. YOu tend to adapt and expand to what you have.

I agree with you though, i know $13 more gives you $312 more over the life, divided per month, $13 more for 8 gb more would def be a no brainer for me. Bad luck :(

I just hope the reception is good as i've never used WW. Have you found a tempered glass and case that fits well? I am looking at a few options but aus is bloody expensive, wish i had a trip back through Kuala Lumpur or somewhere where a phone store is so much cheaper for these accessories. We really do get robbed in aus.

        • @SaberX:

Yeah thats a good way to look at it. In regards to the case I got one of those spigen thin cases with the stand and one without and the quality is great. Cant have a screen protector on though well one of those glass ones anyway because it touches it. so I dont have a screen protector but the case is sold I have dropped it from a seating position and no marks.:)

        • @rip_ghost:

ahhh, ok that sucks. I was thinking of getting one of those 'case friendly' tempered glass protectors off ebay or something. My worry is dropping it onto the front will result in a crack or scratch. more worried than the sides/back of phone. Will probably just choose a nice looking case as too mind boggling trying to choose one of the many cases being advertised online - they all claim to be the next best thing to Kevlar for your phone haha. If you ever manage to find your link for your case please link me! :)

  • Placed an order! Hit the button… bit concerned at the automated delivery address. i put my office, and i can't choose level 1, xx street name. comes up with Suite 1 1 Level, so abit concerned.

Any way of choosing or updating the address with a woolworths rep?

Curious - what colour did others get in this and the prior deals?

Now the hardest part: has anyone found a decent dual set covers: tempered glass for front and something hardy as a protector film for the back? NExt step would be a case given how sensitive the phone seems to be - any recommendations?

I saw kogan doing $19 tempered glass films, has anyone tried?

  • Hey op any chance this deal is coming back anytime soon? Not as spicy ad the current offer 🤔
