We all want to eat healthier

    Speak for yourself, I don't.

  • +4

YES! Saved my AMEX offer; wifey is gonna love this.
Thank you OP, I've had my eyes on this for quite some time now.

  • Isn't the total cost 229 if you include the value of the eftpos card?

    • I guess so? Didn't know whether to include it in the maths but I guess it's the same as a cashback.

  • Great deal, no black though.

  • +2

I've been eating more chips with one of these in the house..Sometimes three times a week

    • +1

Mine gets a good workout pumping through the garlic bread. Only downside is it's just not big enough for a full length loaf of some brands.

      • +3

Keeps you healthy by making you eat less.

  • +1

Is there anyway to spend the $30 efpos card on the air fryer itself?

    • +1

With these deals usually they make you surrender the card if you're returning the item, so no.

      • +1

Thanks for clarifying that. What threw me was:

throw in a $30 EFTPOS card from Harveys and total outlay is just $229 making this the lowest price I've seen posted.

It should actually be: Total outlay is $259 with bonus $30 efpos card (as you can't actually spend the $30 towards the air fryer)

        • +1

Correct. Best you could do is try to tell them you'd rather do a deal and get $30 off. Philips doesn't care how much you paid for their cashback. Source: I just bought a pasta maker from myer ebay using the mum code and my cashback claim success email already came through.

        • @Putnum: Good call. I'll go into Harvey's tomorrow and do exactly that. Thanks again.

        • Nah, its $229

        • @Ozimodo: Please explain…

        • The $30 eftpos card means you're really only $229 out of pocket. Thats all it will cost you after the cashback, amex and eftpos

        • @Ozimodo: Dude that doesn't make sense :(

It does if you were able to put the $30 expos card towards the purchase of the Air Fryer, as Putnum and I have been previously discussing.

          EDIT:

GregFionav@Putnum How are you going to get the $50 OFF from AMEX if you don't spend >$350?

        • +3

@Putnum: How are you going to get the $50 OFF from AMEX if you don't spend >$350?

        • +2

@GregFiona: Ding, ding, ding. Winner, winner chicken dinner.

As you can see we've completely ignore this fact. Cheers.

        • @Roemac: You are spending >$350.. You're paying $359 to HN, getting cashback from Philips $50 & AMEX $50 after the purchase.

        • +1

@GregFiona: Oh yeah i forgot that the amex requires $350+ spend. It's a complicated offer.

  • +2

I still haven't received the $30 or $50 from last year's cashback, maybe it's still with Aus Post…

    • +1

I haven't received $50 cashback from last Xmas too

    • You guys should try chasing them up. I got mine in Jan or Feb.

      • From previous deals they EFT it into your account

  • +4
    • I've got one. It is a good air fryer WHEN IT IS NOT FAULTY. With mine one the timer go up and down on its own after using a couple of months.

    • Potential $80 profit

    • I've had one for almost two years now. It works great, but it died a couple months ago. Had it replaced under warranty and it was the electronic switchboard behind the control panel that needed replacing. According to the repairman it wasn't an uncommon problem.

      • I too have a dead one :(

    • I used some of the savings on full replacement warranty. Banking on using it at least once in 5 yrs…

  • Philips Viva Collection Airfryer looks better.

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/philips-viva-collection-ai…

    • +1

YES! I have the original black version and it's lasted over 3 years now. I've wanted to upgrade to this larger one since release.

After reading the review you've posted and the one above posted by JetBombat, it makes me wish this larger one had the same timing knob and temperature knob as the original.

It's more than likely that the electronic controller in this larger one, is dying from the air frying.

  • +2

    Can this fry icecream?

    • +2

No unfortunately you need a deep fryer this just melts it

  • Regarding the cashback, they need to receive all the paperwork within 14 days. First you have to wait a week for AU post to deliver the ordered item and then your claim takes another week to reach Philips. Probably they made it this way so most of the claims will be invalid.

  • +2

This is a great deal, thanks for posting. I signed up for the Amex HN offer just in case, but thinking I probably wouldn't use it…but that was before I knew airfryers existed - obviously I've been missing out, and have ordered one asap to rectify the situation lol. The youtube videos look awesome, can't wait to start using this. Am prepared to risk the potential issues identified in the reviews given the potential improvements to our cooking functionality. Cheers.

  • I couldn't get myself to spend so much on a small convection oven. I purchased "Kitchen Chef" http://mydiscountstore.com.au/kitchen-chef-3-5l-air-fryer-wi…

I have been using it almost on a daily basis for 6 months, and I have been very satisfied with it. It is larger than my mates Phillips air fryer and only cost $79 delivered. It does pretty much the same thing as the Phillips. Since I have only used it for 6 months, I can't really comment on the longevity but so far so good.

    • How do you get it for $79 delivered? Says $99 on the link

    • Will have to keep my eye out on this one. Got a Billeni one that after 6 months has started a slow death.

  • I will probably go with DeLonghi 1394. Also with cash back and combined with Amex Offer and $ 30 card. Need to buy something for $1 to make it $350/

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/delonghi-fh1394-extra-chef-mu…

Delonghi always has a better reputation over Philips.

    • +1

      That's one ugly appliance

  • +1

are these really any better than a good fan forced oven?

also they seem to make you eat a lot more chips.

    • +1

I'm wondering the same thing. If it's faster/more convenient than one I was tempted, until realising most of the things we'd be putting in it would be unhealthy (moderation and willpower is not a strong suit)

      • I bought one of these on a whim maybe a year ago. It's great for frozen chips/wedges/potato gems. Other things I've tried to cook in it have been more 'miss' than 'hit'. There are videos online of people cooking steak in them - but really it's just a good chip cooker.

Also bird's eye do a deli choice style chip which are delicious cooked in the airfryer. As good as Schnitz chips IMO.

    • +1

my food seems to retain more moisture when cooked in airfryer. I do whole pre marinated chicken, salmon and big chunks of beef to slice up. I do roast veges in it too. its also much quicker than a normal oven becuase of how small it is.

      • I've got the Kambrook Air Chef. Had to replace the handle after a year. The new handle came with a new basket. I cook steaks, fried chicken, roast veges, chips, pies, fish in alfoil. Steak is so quick and juicy. Brilliant machine. I'm looking for a deal on a 4 or 5 litre one.

  • Does HN stock the black model in store?

    • No

  • Have had mine for more than two years now, used almost daily and it's never skipped a beat. Can't recommend these things enough, they absolutely destroy our oven for effectiveness. Have done dessert pastries, chicken roasts, the humble chip/wedges/hash brown, roast potatoes and just about anything I could think of that fits.

  • Can anyone please confirm if paying with ANZ issued AMEX card will be eligible for statement credit? Thanks a lot in advance.

  • I use mine practically every night. Roast meat/veg, wings, chips, crumbed fish, bakes and omelettes (in the baking tin). Faster than the oven and better overall result every time.

  • +1

Why does every experience I have at Harvey Norman feel so negative?

They kept me waiting there for so long only to be told they have no stock - didn't check stock levels before sending me to the warehouse. Wasted 1.5 hours.

    Thanks Harvey Norman.

  • if you look at the big pucture.. If u buy one. U will eat more under the guise of it being healthier, its alot easier to cook so u will cook more, and u payed a lot of money for this new machine on your bench top so u better well use it..
So all in all i would say its alot more unhealthy to get one.

  • Picked mine up today. It's cooking up the fries right now =)

Just note that the Mother's day promotion actually ends on May 31st, so you have plenty of time.
    Thanks for the AMEX tip.

  • Trying to register product on Philips website to initiate the cashback process.
They say, "We require your address details in order to send you the gift package. Be aware that this is the same address as in your account information"
what gift are they taking about …the cashback is actually a bank transfer, for which they have already asked my details.

    • Here is the response from Philips

      Good Morning,

Thank you for your email. We require your address as part of the complete cash back claim for you to receive your cash back. We understand that the cash back is via EFT but without your address we are unable to process your cash back.

      Regards
      The Philips Promotions Team

  • Do you need to do anything else besides register the product. I could not see anywhere to submit claims for the 50 dollars from Philips website

    • I purchased and registered my product today. You should have been sent an email from Philips with the subject: Thank you for registering your product and cash back claim

My thinking is that it's done automatically upon registering your product, as that's all I did.

  • harvey norman increased the price now

  • even 249$ is a good price.
