My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, "If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately". Tears welled up in his eyes when he realised what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- "Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 27, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

Bose is offering full refund on QC35 if you upgraded it's firmware and killed Active Noice Cancelling

    https://community.bose.com/t5/Wireless-Headphones/Update-Apr…

I got my refund ($450 bought in 2016 when released) and just bought Sony MDR - 1000X at the same price from eBay Videopro 20% sale.

Bless Bose for screwing up at the right time to buy a better headphone at same price.

    • I upgrading mine from 1.0.6 to 1.0.10 and I didn't notice any difference. Was there a problem with certain builds of the headphones?

      • Firmware update 1.2.9 created problems. 1.2.10 was released to revert but not working for all.

But I am happy as I tested my colleague's MDR1000X …very good…awesome time for a full refund from Bose.

    • So if you upgrade the firmware you won't have ANC anymore? Can I go back to the old firmware again or not? I bought one last year for $399 from Myer, but I am not sure if I wanna kill ANC since that's the only reason I bought the QC35.

      • +1

U can revert the firmware but very mixed reaction (tilting negative) from consumers hence full Bose refund.

    • -2

Do you have the send the headphones to them in order to have it replaced/refunded?

        • +4

Sounds logical but I did get my Plantronic Backbeats Pro 2's replaced without sending them in. I just filled in an online form and they sent me a new one in box. Then the 'faulty' one mysteriously started working again..

If your toaster breaks does the manufacturer refund you without you having to return it?

You're a superstar, I had issues with my QC35, but just gave up on them, I never knew they were doing this until now.
Just sent them an email, how long did it take to get a reply form them and then a refund? - What was the process?
      Thanks in advance.

    • Hey @Jabberwocky - how long did it take for them to come back to you? There are a bunch of us waiting for the QC35 satisfaction program to come back to us with instructions on how to return the headsets… they keep saying they are still working on a procedure for us to return and get the refund.
How did they pay you back?

      • My apologies, should have clarified. I have confirmation that they will refund over an email.
There is a 2-3 week process as they have confirmed they will refund to me but just that it will take a bit of time 2-3 weeks in my case.
or subsequently you can walk into the store you purchased from and Walla !!

I purchased mine from JB and they asked to share the information about the issue and agreed to refund the money as they will get money back from BOSE. (my plan B if BOSE is taking longer than expected)

    • +1

Please enlightened us how you got the refund as the current process of refund for Australian consumer is TBA?

        • Cool story bro. I've asked Bose directly and seems the process is going fine so far, they have asked for my bank in details. So hopefully it goes well.

    • I dont see, which is better, they both has its own good and bad,
      and equally dodgy.

    • -2

Are you saying i can update my firmware, screw up ANC, and ask for a refund cause i dont like silver anymore?

  • +1

Tried to order the black ones but got an error as I pressed confirm and pay that seller no longer had stock. Could be the fact I was trying to click and collect.
Then tried the silver ones and it went through fine.
    Don't forget cashrewards everyone.

    • $4.67 cashback

    • Do you get CR if you add a discount code?

      • +2

Yes, the code is listed on Cashrewards website so no issue there.

  • Tempted to get a Bose Revolve. Anyone bought it and could compare audio quality to SoundLink Mini, Soundtouch 10 or Companion II desktop speakers?

    • +1
    • +3

      I have SoundTouch 10 - Mini 2 - Revolve - Revolve+
      & will include JBL Xtreme
No point comparing SoundTouch 10s or Companions as these are a different type - no mobility.

Mini 2 users no point upgrading to Revolve until you want a lil more bass and lil more warm soundtracks. You loose natural sound and balance

Now Revolve+ is different beast. Worth it as it's awesome soundstage hits all others out of the park.

Fits in small laptop bag and can be used as a travel speaker unlike it's main competitor JBL Xtreme (which I love) which is huge and cannot be used as a travel speaker. JBL Xtreme has pronounced treble can be screechy & boomy bass…but Revolve+ is balanced, very good bass and treble …a better sounding speaker and also Revolve+ works awesomely well as a speaker with mic.
JBL Xtreme good for parties , Revolve for Great sound but not for parties.

To me Revolve+ is a better package overall

      • So Xtreme has more bass but overall the Revolve+ is better?
Is there a 'big' difference in R+ compare to Soundtouch 10 and mini 2?

        • Sound preference is subjective …
Revolves is a better package as its much more portable than Xtreme.
Sound is more balanced ..Not as boomy as Xtreme
          Splashproof & can sustain drops
Excellent mic for talking using speaker
          Looks better
          Brand value

          Xtreme
Is louder so if u party on such speakers Xtreme is for you
          Boomy

This is my take. Xtreme was and is always a good speaker but Bose is much more suitable for me

MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MINI2 ST10 …Revolve + is much better

      • Thanks so much for this. Wasn't really considering the Revolve+ but may be worth it if you find it significantly better?

Also, portability is not a huge issue for me. Most of the time I would be using the Revolve in one spot in my house. So would you mind comparing the Revolve sound to your Soundtouch 10 or Companions? I have the Companion 2 Series 3 currently, and the Revolve would maybe replace it. But if the Soundtouch 10 is better sound quality, I would probably get that over the Revolve since they are the same price…

        • +1

Stick to the Companion and Save Money if portability is not for you. If its for PC Speakers stick to C2 or upgrade to C3 which has a dedicated sub. That will be much better use of money. Similarly C3 will be a much more sensible upgrade compared to Revolve+ or ST10. Go ST10 only if you want wifi music.
If I was you I would actually spend $350-$450 and upgrade even further to a Companion 5. Instead of spending on ST10 / Revolve+
Much better than any of these in the list.
And if you are concerned about the bluetooth availability, connect the small bluetooth receiver…starts $25 goes upto $150 for Bose or similar i think.

        • @Jabberwocky: Thanks for that. Yeah I have already made my Companion 2 wireless with an AirPort Express. I still wouldn't mind to have a good portable speaker, but maybe I should buy the Revolve for that reason, not to replace my Companion. I was looking into getting the Companion 5 but they seem like they are at the end of their cycle and may be replaced by Bose soon enough.
