          1. Not located in Australia
          2. People have to wait for 2+ weeks postage
          3. Not everyone is happy to use AliExpress

          TL;DR Not comparable

        • @kwchaz:

          Wow does it say unisex

        • +31
          1. Don't need to drive to the shops
          2. No need to try and find in the store
          3. Won't turn up to find they ran out of stock hours ago (or never had enough/any in the first place)
          4. Nice surprise in the letterbox when it does eventually turn up
          5. More choice

I think it's comparable and I'm happy to pay 25% the price for the same item.

        • +40

@kwchaz: The trend will wear off by the time they are delivered.

        • +2

          @SugeKnight: this ^^^^

        • +1

@cloudy: well, Australia Post has been self funded for about 8 years and hasn't used tax payer money since then, but yeah, fair point.

        • +1

@cheapsk8: I'm with you on this one mate.

        • +2

@kwchaz: It's comparable. Same product, different delivery expectation.

        • The fad will be over by the time they arrive. To get the most value out of fads you need to buy while it's hot, even if it means paying a bit extra.

        • What is that photo at the description on the second link? Haha

        • @kwchaz: more like 6 weeks

        • +1

          @Thefong:

self funded because it costs me more to send a mail to my neighbour than it costs a spinner to come from China. Anyone who sends mail or receives mail subsidise import parcels.

In addition, its also fact GST and certain customs duties (if applicable) is not charged, yet customs effort is still involved, so again subsidised else where.

All references are from this inquiry I've been reading:

          https://ministers.treasury.gov.au/DisplayDocs.aspx?doc=press…

Thx for the Negs I'm happy to shout out the facts.

          Estimated Delivery Time:23-47days

          Yeah, nah.

        • +1

@SugeKnight: But my mum thinks their cool :)

        • @cloudy: I like the name of this "Bill Shorten" guy from 2010. Could be an OzBargainer name.

        • @SugeKnight:

Reminds me to email Roboguy and find out where my robot vacuum cleaner is !!

  • +8

Ain't gonna lie, that's probably the best local price I've seen, that's available nationally. :/

    • +3

I'm eagerly waiting for the fidget spinner sex toys : )

      • You can buy them in NZ from Ali baa baa

        • how the hell this comment got downvoted is beyond me… haha

        • @jaybo:

A lot of new OzBargain members from Clayton.

  • +5

We had one left on our boot at the local shops. I guess it was dropped by someone and another picked it up thinking it was from our car.
Our too cool 19 yo son who says fads like this is for fools had great fun playing with it ( although he would never admit it). That was yesterday, I think it's in the bin already. Fad over.

    • +7

      this

retailers need to dump stock before even the slowest of the slow lose interest

      • when we first saw them weeks ago, my son said we should buy a heap and seel at a market - yeah good idea, except by the ime the order arrives from ali-express no one will want them.
we need to know the fads before it happens.

  • Don't let the haters know about this deal.

  • if you like overwatch then the genshi spinners are freaking awesome on ebay

  • +1

    What does it do?

  • +5

not buying one, saves 4 dollars

  • +4

Wow $4 for a fad piece of crap :P

    • +4

      Better than $5

  • +6

When I was younger, the fad was Coca-cola yoyos. Looking at the price that they're going for today makes me wonder whether I should buy a crate or two of these spinners as an investment to fund my retirement.

    • +1

Ahh wow I just looked up the prices and I threw out a few a couple of years ago :/

      • +2

The value isn't in the yoyo though. It's the branding. Anything Coca-Cola branded will have a decent value down the road a vintage Coke stuff is sought after. I'm a collector if it all myself.

        • Anything Coca-Cola branded will have a decent value down the road

The Fanta ones are expensive too…

        • +1

does anyone remember when coke used to taste really good then they changed the formula and it tasted worse, and then they changed it back when actually they didnt.

    • +2

yes but with yoyos you can actually do tricks. all this does is spin. wow.

buying alot of spinners to fund your retirement. man you be rolling in it and be retiring sooner. go for it.

      • +3

Rolling in it or spinning in it?

      • People have been weaponizing them, attaching blades to them, and seeing how fast they spin before they explode. All dangerous crazy tricks ;-)

    • But that's because it's branded coca cola

    • To be fair, the only reason the price is so high is the "Coca-Cola" logo. Anything with the "Coca-Cola" logo from back in the days are basically gold now.

  • Bought the one from the reject shop for my brother and ended up keeping it for myself haha. Got ones from china too but they suck compared to the Reject shop's one. Highly recommend this one. Plus I bought mine for $5 from here so you save $1

  • +1

    Jesus Christ not again!

    • +4

      It's not Easter Sunday though?

      • +1

Can this be put into the Sunday collection though?

        • +1

          It's that you Peter?

  • +3

Reminds me of the Tamagotchi's that Reject Shop were clearing out for $2 just as the fad was wearing off (or a new version was released) . Couldn't believe the price had come down so much (previously up to $20).. this was around late 90s.

    • Tamagotchi, Digimon, Pokemon Red…. the 90's sure were hip

      • +2

        loved those digimon..

        • -2

          DIGIMON IS BETTER THAN POKEMON!!!!

        • I got a shitmon 99% of the time.

    • +4

They weren't genuine Tamagotchi. The real ones were much better than the generics. The plastic it was made of felt and looked better, the buttons made of better rubber, game programmed in a more natural way to navigate, graphics a bit cuter. They were basically the same technology but if you got a generic $2 virtual pet thinking it was the exact same thing as a Tamagotchi then you were wrong :(

      • Really.. will have to dig them out of the archives and examine! Makes sense but I do seem to remember it being branded as Tamagotchi.. couldn't have been an older version they were clearing?

  • who needs a fidget spinner when you have a mx master

  • The fad has died down a lot now compared to a few weeks back. Go to any shopping centre, and you'll find them around every corner.

    • thats when you know the fad is dead or at least on its last legs. when its in loads of shops in shopping centres.

    • Sorta reminds me of pokemon go lol

      • +1

        More like pokemon gone…

      • Except one is free :P

  • OP's avatar checks out

  • +3

Does "Crazy" refer to the target market or the product itself?

  • +1

Many $2 cheap shops are selling for $3. (e.g. Eastland, VIC)

    • +2

Haha $2 shop selling for $3..

      • +1

        inflation…

        • +1

          GST and Bikie tax…

  • +1

this has got to be the most annoying fad ive seen over the past few years. bloody everywhere you look.

  • they've gone mainstream! it's not just ebay now

  • wow crazy

  • Compressed air makes these things more fun. ;)

  • Can anyone comment on the quality of materials and bearings of this particular model?

  • Gonna get myself a fidget spinner instead of my daily coffee today! Wooo

  • +2

im really sorry… but I cant put my finger on this one!
