  • i think it says something about the company when the genuine inkjet cost more than the actual printer

    • Ink and toner that comes with printers is usually less than 50% capacity compared to new inks that are purchased individually. I assume to keep the initial costs down when selling the product, then sting you will full cost consumables.
Same as you get samples of paper with label printers and photo printers etc. Just give you a little to start to use it.

Maybe so but its still cheaper.

That's why you buy new printers instead of ink.

      • But the ink only prints a few pages.

Remember that there is NO WIRELESS capability in this printer which is a real pain.
Much better to go with this - HP Deskjet 3632 as it supports wireless printing functionality. Having a mobile to print or scan documents is well worth the extra cost of $18.

    • I always find I have issues with the wireless connection to printers. I have one right now and only use the USB connection due to the countless issues. Might just be our setup or the printer model specifically.

For $18 you can't go wrong. I've placed my order.

    • both printers use the same cartridges and my HP Deskjet 3632 is running low on ink..

      thanks op!

    • I've been able to hook up my non-wireless printer to my router and print 'wirelessly'. You can also buy printer hubs online pretty cheap.

      • Definitely it can be done but your printer needs to be sitting hand-in-hand with the router ;)

      • Yeh, I do this with my printers too. It's usually pretty easy if your router or NAS can handle a print server, Google will give you a video on how to set it up.

The only irritation I have is that it doesn't seem to be possible with the scanning functionality on multifunction devices, at least not on Epsons, they need the scanner attached to the PC to work.

  • Thanks! I never buy ink! for me, works out cheaper to buy printers. Crazy!

    • If one really wants to save costs, why not just buy a HP compatible 63XL ink cartridge from eBay as it will last you much much longer than the inks that come with a new printer.

      • Wow I salute you!! thank you!!

    • It amazes me how cool you are about contributing to the unnecessary waste of our earth.

      • All my tech is responsibly recycled via my council annually. THANKS

        • You know that's still contributing in a negative way, right?

          @cdestratis:
          A viable alternative then?

It's the free market that has forced that circumstance, not the consumer.

To what? If I have to explain how to be environmentally friendly, you're probably not that interested anyway.

If you can't handle the truth, time to recycle yourself perhaps?

I get it, but you don't see me flaunting around my ability to take advantage of that.

I heard some of these printers that are also scanners won't scan without a cartridge with ink in it - is this the case with this model ?

Parents in law have a lexmark and it's notorious for this!

  • Does this one have a flatbed scanner? So I can thick things, like a book cover?

  • Suppose cheaper the better for budget all-in-ones, but how does HP 2130 compares to Canon MG2560…$18 vs $19?

I'm thinking to get a cheap one mainly just for scanner. Thanks

    • I recently bought the Canon as a backup and thank the lord I did. It was easy to set up and works great.
