  • Anyone got one of these and used it with twitter?

  • remember it does not have 3G/HSPA.

    http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b3310-2907.php

    • Can't get a 3g signal out here anyway ;)..
Need a new mobile anyway, but want something cheap i can use twitter with :)

  • Nice, I'm tempted to get one, but already got a phone :)

  • is it locked to Optus ?
if so how much to unlock it ?

    • +1

      It is locked to Optus.
Free to unlock after 6 months or top up to $80.
Optus unlocked my old mobile after I've bought this one.

  • Cheers picked up another one

  • How long does the battery last in real life? Feedback on the gsmarena site says the battery life is not very good. Another con I see is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. It's a pretty ugly looking thing. Also, did Optus cripple the functionality of the phone?

  • Can Optus pre-paid mobiles be used with Virgin? Since they're the same network anyway.

    • Should be able to.

      • Thanks mate, might pick one up for my brother.

        • I'm using it with my TPG SIM so I imagine Virgin will work as well.

  • Oh dear, I checked just the other day and they were still selling them for $129, that was a quick and large price drop!

    • Works fine on tpg. My mum got one at DSE in the $49 special.

      Nice phone.

  • Im not into phones and dont know alot about them , can this work with my TPG account as its optus I believe? Never had a prepaid before

    • Yes, it should work with anyone that uses the Optus network (Optus, TPG, Virgin, Woolworths, etc). It's only 2G so internet is not going to be fast.

  • Thanks for the reply , what phones would be better for around $60 ? This sucker is pretty ugly and the number keys down the side seem like a bad idea

    • keep in mind it has a slide out keyboard. You wont be using the number keys to text.

Essentially the number keys are just like a computer keyboard.

  • The Samsung seems like quite good value for its price. My only worries are the battery life (from feedback on the gsmarena.com site). It hasn't got a 3.5mm jack so you will need a bluetooth stereo headset if you want to listen to the MP3 player or radio. I'd say it's going to be discontinued and they are flogging them off at a reduced price to clear them.

I don't think you can really expect too much for a prepaid under $50. Kmart, Big W, Woolworths & Coles periodically flog cheap locked & unlocked Virgin/Optus locked mobiles so you could have a look at their catalogues online each week. There are also some other Optus prepaids on the Optus web site.

    • I just received mine today. It came with a set of cheap stereo ear phones (with micro-usb plug) which was not mentioned on the Optus website. Also a free voucher worth $5 for 75MB mobile data. I think the phone is great value for $39. I will see how the battery life is. The numbers down the side is going to take some getting used to.

  • Nice , they canceled my order because I was out when they called to confirm my CC. Never had that happen before :P

    • lol, strangely that also happened to me as well because the voip contact number i gave them wasn't working properly. they didn't mention (or at least i didn't see) that they needed to contact you to in order to confirm the order. the 2nd time i gave a mobile number and they called within a couple of seconds of me placing the order. they saw my previous order so probably you could just ring up to get it sorted.

  • I did thanks. I received no notification via email that the order was canceled. I noticed the card had not been billed so I gave them a call. Reordered and as what happened with you, they called within a minute of the order being made. All good now, look forward to playing with my cheapo phone when it arrives :P

  • How the hell to order? It won't accept my Debit Mastercard then tell me that I failed the credit check!!!???

  • Mine broke down and I have just returned it for repair at the Optus Shop in Hornsby. The staff said it was a very unpopular phone and might replace it with a new one if they cannot fix it.

  • what is wrong with it? mine is still kicking along nicely. i find it useful even as just an mp3 player. the only thing i noticed is i need to turn the phone off & on to turn off the gprs (which chews threw the battery relatively quickly)

  • The screen goes completely blank.. just a white light like a torch..weird
