ALL Optus BYO 12M Plans - 25% Extra Discount (BNE Queen St Mall) - New Customers w/ ABN

140

Hi, guys,

I went to Optus on Queen Street Mall in Brisbane to have a look at the 12-month $40/month BYO plan deal. The sales person offered a further 25% off on top of the already discounted plan because I have an ABN and am not an Optus customer (apparently, these are the requirements).

In the end, I got out of there with a 12-month plan that gives me unlimited calls/SMS/MMS, international calls to some coutnries and 12 GB data (!!) for $30/month (!!!!!!). If you do not need much data like me, you can get the $30/month plan down to $22.50 and get 3GB per month.

I know there are cheaper deals from Kogan and Lebara around, but some of us still like to stick with the top 3 carriers for extra convenience.

Unsure if it is nationwide and this 25% off is not on their website.

Good luck

Welllll I used to have Netflix streaming on my $40 plan but Optus has removed it and now its just radio stream as not being on the cap.

      • No more data free streaming for Netflix.? Well thats no good now is it.

You can get the same deal under the 25% off Family and Friends promotion without having an ABN.

Link to deal is here. Read comments, it is stated to apply to 12m sim-only plans despite title of deal, etc. Can confirm it works on sim-only as I have just ported my wife's number over.

Thanks for the notification man! Been waiting for the Optus F&F deal to pop up again.

  • Hi OP thats a good deal.Just to add one thing that kogan and lebara are resellers of the carriers technically the network sim card working with the reseller is same as to that of the carrier itself. It is the packages that are different.

    • Depends on what deal they sign up to, there are a range and priority different between re-sellers.

Does know if its worth (or difference) going onto optus from a provider whom users Optus network?

I'm currently with Jeenee. And will most likely be switching to this just because its cheaper, but just wondering what data speeds I should expect? That is, will they change?

18$/month Jeenee user here. I've been considering switching purely for free streaming music services, i.e. Spotify and etc. which Optus offer.

      • I'm currently on their $30 plan (which will go to $35 after three months). So that $5 saving means I'll be switching (will check call costs first) but I'm just wondering if I can expect faster or better coverage?

That is, are third party providers given a restricted or deprioritized service?

I guess at the end of the day its unlikely that Optus would be worse than Jeenee so I think I'll just switch anyway.

  • unlimited calls/SMS/MMS, international calls to some coutnries

I just had a live chat and the agent advised they do not have any plans that offer unlimited international calling. Did they really give you unlimited international calling

    • Think it was just the way he wrote it. Free calls local and some international calls included for overseas destinations
